I have to say that I’m still hurt by how Tom Gavin did my wedding. He sold my husband and I from day one. Great talker but does not deliver! Of all the things that we didn’t trust at the wedding he was defiantly one who we trusted. Well, he came to the wedding late! He had someone else do our ceremony who was clueless. We had to play our ceremony music via a cell phone. Prior to the ceremony we were googling the ceremony music on our phones. DJ Tom came strolling in late during the reception! No apologies! No nothing! We never got to dance with our parents. When he approached us about it 10 minutes before our send off the mood was different and the moment lost. He played 1990’s music and nothing from the website portal that we asked him to play. On top of that our honeymoon money was absorbed because the day of the wedding he charged the entire amount on our card. We couldn’t get in our hotel because we had no funds! He is a great guy with a big personality but I can’t say professionally I walked away happy! I hope this message will inspire him to do better because he is talented; however I will not be using him again.

I met Tom and his fiancée at a wedding expo, and he gave me some sample CDs(1). I called Tom(2) after a month had gone by and my fiancé hadn’t heard from any of his DJ friends. We set up a meeting and he emailed me links to video testimonials(3). At the meeting, he talked his talk, telling us his price(4) and letting us know what his services included(5). In my super stressed state, I pleaded with my fiancé to sign before we really even read the contract(totally my fault). Tom thanked us, paid for our meal and said he’d be in touch(6). 1) My husband and I are Black, and the CDs he gave us were«Urban» and«R&B.» :/Our favorite bands are Queen, Heart and Journey. 2) Tom said he would call us to chat and give us names of officiants, but did not. 3) The satisfied customers were all Black couples. :/ 4) He said that certain customers from certain areas(not ours) were willing to pay for quality. It was a sneaky tactic to make us seem cheap, and it worked even though I recognized it. 5) He said a lot, such as «I’m coming to the rehearsal» and«I’m sure I can play music outside» even though our venue explicitly prohibited amplified music outdoors. Of course, he did not come to the rehearsal because he had other events and I hired a ceremony musician in order to avoid problems. 6) From February to the first week of May, the only time I got a call from Tom was when there was a balance due. I emailed him about music selections, called him to ask questions, but still nothing. I brought this up and he tried to argue, saying he did call. And more than a week after I paid in full, I’m still waiting on a receipt. The day of, he and his fiancée were there early, smiling, and completely accommodating. The timing of everything kept changing, and they went with the flow. So day of, 5⁄5. Everything else… meh. I wish we could’ve hired Davis DJs since they had a great deal going and have a better reputation. ***UPDATE*** He left a scathing, attacking response to my review on WeddingWire, basically calling me a liar and blaming me for everything I wasn’t happy with. World class guy…

I am extremely disappointed in the service I received. I was assured that Tom would be the person there for my event and that there would be 2 people there due to the challenges for the venue accustics. We also discussed speakers set up on the farside of the venue so that people on both sides could hear. None of which occurred. No one was able to hear us being announced into the hall or the speeches. After multiple conversations with Tom prior to signing a contract, I trusted that the company would be able to appropriately DJ my event. This was definitely not the case. I will be sure to make sure that NOONE I know will ever use this company ever again. I do not appreciate being fed false information and then having the first half of my wedding ruined by the stress of what happened. Completely unprofessional.

Terrific salesman, shady business practices. Be very careful before you give your money to Tom Gavin!!! I hired this company for an event on August 27, 2011. Unfortunately hurricane Irene came through the area on the same day and ruined our plans. Furthermore, it caused mass power outages in the state and unsafe driving conditions for anyone to leave their homes that day. While the caterers and the party hall all graciously provided refunds because of the unfortunate and unpreventable cancellation of my event, Mr. Gavin retained all of my money without providing any services. His only response to me was that«he is not in the business of giving refunds.» Please use caution if you are considering using this company for your event, they are currently under investigation by the Consumer Protection Division of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office as a result of their suspect business practices.
