Having only been to Joliet, Road America and Gingermann Raceway, I found Grattan to be the toughest. I was EXTREMELY fortunate to drive a three time national championship Cobra replica, a Z-062007 and 2 different FSR or Ford Spec Racers. The elevation changes were a 1st for me and I had a hell of a time adjusting. Turn 3, 8 and 9 were the most imposing parts of track for me. Turn 3 was the most user friendly, but 8 and 9? These two required a lot of speed, attention and g-forces to lower lap times. The only way I knew was by sitting passenger w/a better driver. My buddies raced their bikes 30 plus years ago at Grattan and did so in the opposite direction. I am fortunate indeed to know these fellow Detroiters since childhood. The review that posted photos of the bathrooms and griped? Seriously? It’s all about the pavement. The staff was over the top friendly and I really enjoyed it. Really nice layout and some of the best days of my life.(And worse) Note; All I did was open track in the ‘B’ group. LOVEDIT! p. s. Photos of a bathroom? SERIOUSLY?

I LOVE the racetrack itself. The elevation changes, the off camber turns, the bowl, the esses… — GOSH!!! AMAZING! I wish we had a track with the same technicality closer to Chicago. I usually ride the motorcycle days here with Sportbike Track Time. However, the bathrooms are HORRENDOUS! I mean«want to gag or throw up» disgusting. I mean«afraid to sit down» disgusting. Graffitti is all over the walls of the stalls. The mirrors are etched with carvings from what seem like teenage girls. Do I really need to read that«Kate loves Mike»(with a heart around it) while I’m in the bathroom stall?(in addition to other proclamations of «love» in the bathroom stalls?) Also by the end of the day, the toilets are clogged and no one fixes them. The water that comes from the sink really stinks. At least they have good soap(economy sized Dove with moisturizers, phew!). The showers are sooo gross and the shower curtains look like they are from the ‘80s and haven’t been changed since.(ew!). The curtain is even falling off the shower curtain rings in one of the stalls. I have never showered there — too scared to. All of the times I’ve been to Grattan, we’ve had to find hotels in the area for the weekend. It would be more convenient if we could camp and if the bathroom facilities were a bit cleaner. It makes you want to wish you could hold off on going to the bathroom until you could leave the racetrack. Additionally, the concession stands don’t have much selection for lunch. Hot Dog, Bratwurst, Chili Dog, Chips. I can’t complain as I am sometimes in the mood for that kind of food. Summertime does that to me I guess. I have a soft spot in my heart for Grattan Raceway as I’ve always enjoyed the track itself, but gosh, I wish they’d fix the bathrooms especially if you have to spend the whole day there.

I used to come here every year with my Dad for the Ducati Club weekend in the summer. All weekend different classes would be up for the right around the track, novice up to the hot shoes. They also had a two up session, so you could right with your partner. It was a lot of fun especially if you like speed and grinding your shoe(sometimes your knees) to the pavement. It’s really a smooth easy track with some good curves and a long speedway. You could set up camp and display your bikes in the pits if you didn’t want to leave for a hotel. They have showers and fast food restaurant available here. Definitely check the website out they have all kinds of events and races here. The BMW club and Porsche club are here often.
