Valley View Golf Club

The restaurant has been closed for over a year. And the golf course just closed this year, because of what I believe was mismanagement. I am not a golfer, but talking to other people that do golf, that is what I hear!

This is a great course that is a short drive away from the Twin Cities. The name says it all as the views from this course can be spectacular looking down the valley into the city of Belle Plaine. I played in August and the course was in great shape. The greens are very fast and with the right hole location putts can be tough to hold on the greens. Nice wide fairways with a few holes that bring water into play. Lots of hills and valleys will challenge your club selection. Worth the trip to go play.

I like Valley View, it is worth the drive from the cities on occasion. The two star review is a little harsh as we found friendly employees and conditions typical of a course that has been pretty well maintained… it is a good deal out in the outer burbs and in great condition. Plus he only has one review on Unilocal.Who ya gonna listen to?
The fairways and greens are in good shape. The tee boxes are well marked, and have your choice of 3 boxes. On a positive note — the course is in great condition, we played in July. The downside is it is a tough course for amateurs — very hilly and requires precision approaches due to the sharp rolloffs, no rolling onto the green here. And do not walk it — I think it was hole 12 that was a ridiculous uphill that I struggled to get up — and a long walk between 9’s.

I played the course last weekend and was very disappointed. I have been playing this course since the early 90s and it has taken a huge step backwards. When we arrived we had to wait for three employees to finish their conversation and even then got the impression we were inconveniencing them. The fairways are in rough condition and many of the stairs and signs are starting to show their age. Twice on the back 9 we had to help other players find their next tee box. I can overlook the condition of the course however the attitude of the employees was inexcusable. I hope Valley View is able to find its way back to the great golf course it once was.
