I was going to give this motel a better rating until Sunday, the day we left.
We were in town for Thon. Since most hotels in state college were either insanely expensive or full we decide to look a few miles out. I came across this place and the pictures didn’t look bad and it was very affordable. I also knew we wouldn’t be spending much time in the room since we would be over at the BJC for Thon. We checked in on Friday. The room was freezing but it was February and the heater had been off. It didn’t take long to warm up. The room was average. Two full sized bed and tv and desk with lamp. Bathroom looked slightly renovated. Everything seemed clean. Staff was nice upon check in.
So the weekend went by quickly and it was Sunday, time to pack up and check out. This is where the low rating comes in and I will not be coming back. As I was gathering our things off the bed I notice something crawling up the side of the one sheet. It was a BEDBUG!!! I don’t know about you but if i see one the chances of finding more are very likely and I didn’t want to hang around to find another.
I checked my kids and myself and notice on my sons arm he had a few small red bumps that were not there at the start of our trip.
When we got home all of our clothes and even the bags went into the wash, I feared we could’ve brought them home with us.
I will not be booking a room from this motel.

Drove 6 hours to this shack with my husband. Front doorr was locked we rang the bell because no one was at the front desk. It was 40° outside and raining .a woman finally came to the window, wouldn’t let us in and spoke to us through the security hole. She rudely said to us its $ 120 a night, no «hello» no «how can I help you».p.s this MOTEL is down the street from a state prison … FOR A MOTEL AT 2AM?!

Hotel is clean and comfortable. plus 5 stars for accommodations, minus 2 stars for weirdness about getting a receipt:
We were paying with cash — paid the cash at check-​in time and asked for a receipt. Lady at the counter said I’ll get it when I check out — huh? I give you cash and you don’t give me a receipt??? She even rounded up the charge for the room to the next dollar. I insisted on a receipt on the spot, then she said they only give one receipt and if she gives me one now, I won’t get one when I check out — huh? I repeated that I wanted a receipt. She printed a receipt and then as I stood there looking at it, she took the change out of the drawer of 13cents that she owed me because she rounded up and held it out to me. Once in the room, I called ChoiceHotels customer service and asked if «only one receipt» was the normal policy — they said they never heard of such a thing; they offered to mail me a receipt if I did not get one in the morning. In the morning I asked for a receipt upon checking out and she said that she gave me one the night before and it says the same thing; I said I wanted a receipt that shows the time we checked out – she paused and then reluctantly gave it to me. What’s up with this weirdness about a receipt? I felt very uncomfortable.

One of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I cannot emphasize enough how exceptional the service was. Above and beyond what I would have expected from any hotel.

Pros: Front desk staff was friendly and professional. Towels seemed clean. Bathroom was fine. Parking lot was well lit.
Cons: Room smelled was far from fresh and clean. Furniture was very dirty under pillows. I checked bed for bedbugs before I settled in and didn’t see any thing after pulling off sheets and blankets and looking at bottom of mattress – knock on wood!
For the price, not horrible, if you are really tired.

I think perhaps the negative reviewer had the wrong spot. One couldn’t ask for a nicer motel experience. Affordable, very tidy rooms with granite surfaces and great cross-​ventilation on the upper level where my room 104 was. Polite staff. Close to a busy road– but it’s a motel… that’s kind of the point. I won’t hesitate to stay here when I’m next in the area.

Owners must have made a real effort to fix prior problems. Stayed overnight on a cross country trip and it was a great experience. Front desk gave us a complimentary upgrade to a king size bed room and a password to the wifi. The room itself was great! It was honestly the most updated and comfortable ECONOMY room that I’ve stayed at. Furniture was all fairly updated and in good condition, nice flat screen tv, and a beautiful bathroom with granite. Staff was very polite.

Proprieter has a less than perfect grasp of English. Hotel is about 15 min off I 80 further than my impression from my iPhone map. LARGE amount of crumbs from toast or something was left in desk chair. Like half of a biscuit worth. NO INTERNET despite claim of wireless high speed Internet in all rooms.
