Love this place! Everyone is great! Perfect location and their fries are to die for! I recommend to all my friends! It’s nice to have a high end restaurant in town

The Governors Pub hasn’t been updated since Bellefonte lost its mill. We stumbled into town on our way back to New York hopeful that the Governor’s Pub would fill us up after a long three hour ride from Ohio. Instead, we waited over an hour for our food, most of which was bland and ill prepared. Our waitress, Megan, forgot many of our items although she was very nice and smartly dressed. We hope that next time we come to Belafonte we can instead toboggan down the mountains or take a canoe in the beautiful lake as opposed to dining at Governors Pub.

Awful. Manager is rude. They make you pay for take out before you get to see and, which for me resulted in taking home inedible BURNT food. I complained and they woudn’t do anything about it. Avoid at all costs.

Had the Poutin Fries to start which were the best I have ever had. .with a rich brown gravy with fresh curds… when moved on to the Debris Sandwich which was equally good. …with fresh cole slaw which i am truly picky about. …loved it. … I would come back.

The food was delicious. The beer selection is well curated and quirky. A nice place to eat and have a beer on the patio.

Stopped on our way across I-80 and glad we did. Ruben was top notch and the chicken wrap was great. And don’t forget to put malt vinegar on your fries like you’re supposed to.

Just stumbled upon this place while driving through. Never heard of it, never been to Bellefonte. But the town is really charming, historically interesting, and this pub is terrific. I’ll surely be returning, and soon. Very comfortable atmosphere, lively but allowing for some privacy, too, due to layout; there’s a large patio, too. I abhor TV screens in restaurants, but theirs ran only Bellefonte trivia questions and info(volume muted), an enjoyable proud-of-our-town touch. The pub had a CD with fantastic blues that gave a beat to my excellent Reuben and side of poutine; I’m eager to come back when they have live music. Now, if you haven’t had poutine, let’s just say it’s a yummy pile of freshly-cut french-fry/cheese curds/brown gravy happiness on a plate. Quintessential comfort food. It was a good mate for the Reuben, itself a tasty mess that was better than most I’ve had in central PA, though this ain’t NYC so deli snobs shouldn’t expect a world-class Reuben. The beer menu is impressive, with beers from many brewers in many states. The Rogue Mocha Porter was superb, a bottle for $ 5. The waitress, a truly sweet and beautiful woman who made me feel at home, was quite patient with me and let me sample beers before settling on my porter. I appreciated that many other waitresses were also very friendly during my stay, and they’re all fast-moving and hard-working. The menu goes beyond typical, standard pub fare to more creative dishes. I really want to return for more of them. I refrained from enjoying dessert but I was really impressed by the home-made desserts I saw other customers wolfing down, especially a chocolate cream pie that almost brought a tear to my eye. I had a great experience, a delicious meal, and a very good beer for $ 20. I’ll take that anytime.

My boyfriend and I stopped here by chance for dinner near the end of our road trip from Milwaukee to NYC. We couldn’t have been luckier to find Governor’s Pub. The service was friendly and attentive. The menu was extensive and eclectic for pub fare. We had trouble choosing what we wanted, there were so many tasty sounding dishes! We ended up sharing soup, salad, and a sandwich. Everything was cooked perfectly and portions were big. Veggies in the salad were fresh and crisp. Fries were delectably seasoned. The ambiance is casual and inviting.

Food was good. The French fries were seasoned with a mixture of seasoning not plain salt and they were fresh cut. My husband had the Rubin the sauerkraut seamed to be home made it was great. I had a chicken sandwich with Gouda cheese it was good chicken was a little dry but overall good.

This is my second time eating here, and since I’m from Arizona, it set an impression as I remembered it from a year ago. The first time, I had chicken pot pie, and thus time I had meatloaf. Both meals are more than ample in portion, and quite tasty. The gravy was good and I liked the smashed potatoes. Not a five star place imho, but a good solid four stars, because I don’t think I could ever be disappointed coming back here. This is the structure that was formally a barbershop that launched The Mills Brothers.

We arrived hungry and left totally stuffed and happy. Homemade dishes that is close to home cooked. Megan our server was wonderful. She was on top of the water and made sure we were satisfied with everything. I ordered the monthly special: hot roast beef sandwich smothered with gravy along with smashed potatoes. Husband ordered the pub favorite: mashed potatoes and homemade meatloaf with squash on the side. Both were delicious. The atmosphere is a nice upscale pub.

Our waitress was really nice and attentive! Veggie burger was good, fries had a lot of seasoning. Beer could have been colder(bottle), but I think the place was a cool spot to stop and have a bite. We were in and out in under 35 minutes.

Very good home style cooking and a great little combo playing… a happy place to be. Great selection and variety of beer, cool college town type atmosphere but with a more 30−40s crowd.

Ï’ve eaten here several times. Usually I think it’s a bit over priced. Not true this time. The special salmon burger eas excellent and well worth the price. If you come in the evening, you can hear local musical griups. An excellent evening out with great music and great conversation with us locals. Try it out.

Found this place on a random lunch stop during a long drive from NYC to Cleveland, which I actually learned was very fitting during my lunch at the pub. I tried the Reuben since the menu said that it was the house specialty, and it was juicy, not too fatty, and quite good. The fries were even better and went well with vinegar, just like I like it. My wife had the turkey Reuben, which she said was just average and was deli turkey instead of sliced turkey like she had expected. The beer selection was good, especially the bottles. I had a tasty Troeg IPA on tap and noticed some Unibroue’s and Dogfish in bottles. The best part, really, was just the atmosphere. Loved the Bellafonte trivia at the table while we waited for our food and learned a lot about the area in our brief wait. Most interesting, I did not know that Bellefonte is right in the middle of PA and also right in the middle of a straight line between NYC and Cleveland, so it was a natural fit as a stopping point on the airmail route created as the US took air delivery to the skies. Now I know that, and so do you!

This place is trying hard to serve innovative food and they should get credit for that. I really wasn’t feeling my California veggie burger– great concept that just didn’t quite hit the mark. It was tempeh(?) based, with corn and carrots– homemade, and served with feta and a lemon mayo. Creative and a nice try, but something was off about the burger. The texture wasn’t great(but that’s hard to nail on a veggie burger), but it was more the seasoning that was off. It was heavily dominated by an herb I couldn’t quite identify– savory maybe. The steamed veggies I requested were good. Hubby’s Reuben, the house specialty, left him less than thrilled. The meat, he said, was very fatty, with a slimy texture. Admittedly, he’s from the New York area, but he has found other Reubens in this area that he does like, so he’s not just being a Reuben snob. The atmosphere of the space is really nice, chill and homey. Service was friendly and prompt. Hubby is over it after one visit because our meals really did disappoint. I might still give this place another shot, just because: 1. They are trying to do something beyond run-of-the-mill, 2. The atmosphere is so comfy, I did really like being there. 90’s alternative goes a long way with me.
