I have no idea how the other reviews got on here to say that they have a good breakfast.
I’m at Charlies and it is at 200 Mascoutah in Belleville, IL. the breakfast was not good maybe the people who’ve eaten this breakfast don’t go out a lot because this breakfast was not good. I didn’t even finish all my pancakes, and I love pancakes. I mean it wasn’t super bad, but not even mediocre good either.
I got the steak potatoes and eggs breakfast with toast and pancakes. Nothing that came out looked appealing except for the toast, I thought the pancakes were decent looking but they were not making me wantinting to just dive in nothing had an excellent taste to it.
The ribeye had a real bad taste, like it may have been old. I ate it anyway, I got other food from them, to take that home, I’m going to try the hamburger and I’ll try the hot wings and I’ll give update to those at a later time but for right now if you’re looking for breakfast this is not the place.
You’re better off at IHOP, I mean the food just isn’t that fresh and its not that appealing. The only thing I can say is once I was able to get service the service was excellent however, when I first walked in there was no one to greet me, no one to seat me and there was no one to talk to me. I sat there for about maybe 5 – 7 minutes then someone finally came out and noticed me and then they proceeded to take my order. The people in general are fine people, they have a TV you can listen to or watch while you eat and you know my thing is I’m a foodie and I’m looking for those hidden gems with the good eats and this place is not one of them.
They may have good drinks as I didn’t order any alcoholic beverages but the food, if was breakfast is not good to my tastes.
The place is in a nice off the path place, it’s clean and like I say the people are nice not friendly, but nice. I’m a foodie and I’m judging the food and this was not it, so save your time this is not worth the experience, I mean if you just want to try then go ahead but those other reviews are not what they say they are, the best breakfast at best I would give this place of two stars.
I’m going to give you them one because I rarely go into a restaurant and none of the food s good or just not tasty at all, usually you have one or two items that may be ok, so for this place I cant even find one. Nothing tasted fresh to me

Local Bar & Restaurant can’t beat the price or service. The food? Well, let’s put it this way, if you’re looking for fusion cooking or a gourmet type dinner setting with fine china and table cloths, stop reading now! This is not your kind of a place.
However if you’re a hard working blue, green or brown collar person, retired, bachelor, senior or just your plain old everyday American Joe or Joan and enjoy good company and just plain old comfort food, this place is for you.
Take a step back to a simpler time. The food is always hot and cooked to order. Breakfast and lunch Mon — Sat, open for dinner Thur — Sat only.
I’ve had breakfast and dinner there and the service is friendly the food quality is good to fair, can’t beat the price. Saturday special two half fried chicken dinners with two sides $ 10.99, that’s less than $ 6.00 per person. The chicken? Hot juicy and delicious, my sides? Not a fan of instant mashed potatoes but the green beans were great and a cold PBR to wash it all down. Yea! we’ll be back to check out the rest of the menu.
So give Charlie’s a try but remember leave your plastic at home this place only takes cash.
