My first visit to this establishment was memorable mostly for some of the worst service I have ever experienced. If not for the food, I would never think twice about avoiding it like the plague. Our server was not knowledgeable at all about the menu, never checked back with us after taking our food order for any reason ranging from ensuring our food was correct(it wasn’t) to offering more chips and salsa or drink refills(yes, we wanted more chips; yes, our drinks were empty.) The only time he visited our table again was to deliver the check. I hope that my next visit, motivated only by the delicious food, will be better — yes, I’ll write an additional review at that point.

Everytime we go the service and food are great. The food is authentic and there is always a special every day of the week. It is a very good place to eat authentic Mexican food and I have recommended it to a lot of people. They all enjoyed it!

Was not impressed. The food was just ok. I have had much, much better tasting mexican food for less. Found it to be pricey for what we got. Sunday lunch for 2 adults and a 6 yo, we got water, no alcohol and the bill was $ 34.00. We wont return.

Great food and drinks. Good lunch specials and the food is made fresh to order. Cheap prices and the service is good.

This place deserves a million stars. Why? It’s the best Mexican food in Belleville or the metro east Illinois area hands down. I recently moved here from Colorado and out there they have a Mexican food truck on every corner and Jesus is slinging those tacos like it’s nobody’s business. And my point is that Mi Casa is every bit as good as Jesus who freshly crossed the border. The service is spot on and man, that salsa will make you want to dance like Elaine on Seinfeld.

Food was very good and arrived quickly. I didn’t taste any blandness as described by other Unilocalers. The complimentary salsa was great and always refilled without asking. Friendly wait staff. It is a bit cramped but it is in an old Wendy’s restaurant, so there you go. Dinner for 2 adults and 2 kids(ordering off the kids menu) was $ 27.00. Not bad at all. They also have Margarita specials on certain nights. Can’t wait to go back!

Hey we liked this place! The food was good, fairly priced and the place is clean. Avoid the taco carne asada. $ 8.75 is way to much for a child’s portion of tacos with no sides

This is one of our family’s favorite place to go for dinner. The servers are incredibly friendly and helpful, and I’ve never had faster, more consistent service anywhere. The Pollo Chicken(aka Chicken Chicken) is nothing but rice, chicken and cheese, but it’s incredibly flavorful. The Pollo Enchilado is similar, but slightly spicier. That comes with tortillas, lettuce, sour cream and homemade quacamole. My favorite, by far, is the Caldo Cameron, which is shrimp soup. The broth is full of flavor that soaks into the broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. It’s perfect for a cold winter day, or anytime. And again, the service is unbelievably fast. After you order, you have piping hot, fresh food before you literally five minutes later. The chips and homemade salsa are a great meal starter(the queso is fabulous as well). And if it’s someone’s birthday, be sure to tell your server as they will smash an enormous(and delicious) fried ice cream sundae in their face. This is definitely a must-visit restaurant.

Small cozy Mexican place. Service is always friendly. Nice tangy salsa. My favorite dish on the menu is the Carnitas dinner – oh my sooo much food though – seasoned pork shoulder cubes, grilled onions, a ‘salad’(shredded lettuce, guacamole, and pico), and beans. Last night I had the #1 combo plate – 1 taco, 2 enchiladas, and beans. It was ok – I guess I didn’t really care for their mole sauce – I wound up ditching the mole soaked tortillas and mixing the hamburger filling with the beans and salsa. My friend had the #17 – tostada and chile relleno… I got to tast the chile, and it was pretty good(meat and cheese stuffing). There was a table of 2 couples who had apparently never ate their before. One of the women ordered chicken wings(where the hell did she find that on the menu!!!) The man next to her ordered a burrito something or other which wasn’t to their liking – they had to have a menu to compare because it wasn’t what they expected. Gil(our waiter and theirs) went out of his way to make sure they had extra attention all was ok – It really seems like they were just trying to score a free dinner or something. I wish they would have taco variety or rather real tacos instead of just crunchy corn tortillas stuffed with ground beef and lettuce. The carnitas meat shredded – wow that would be a fab taco with the grilled onions and squeeze of lime, may some shredded lettuce and bit of cilantro! I am never disappointed in the margaritas there! And one thing that is very noteworthy – this is one of the few small scale Mexican restaurants that you can walk out of and not smell like food!(I hate that. often times, I will leave a coat in the car just so it doesn’t wind up smelling like food. And it’s not just Mexican that does that, ate some place last week and we walked out smelling like a restaurant. Ughhhh!)

I have no idea how this place has 4 – 5 stars. The food was so mediocre and didn’t taste authentic, i’m not sure if people are so use to taco bell that they call this heaven. I had the enchilada and taco combination and neither stood out, neither did the chips and salsa. They are fast as far as getting you your food and the service is great, I just cannot give this place three stars as I would never come back. This place has some really crowded seating. Not recommended by a Mexican connoisseur as myself.

INSHORT: A great Belleville-area Mexican restaurant if you like your food fried and flavorful. The mushroom quesadilla is great for herbivores. THEFULLSTORY: We went to MiCasa on a whim since we have been to Margarita’s and Mariachi’s many times and wanted to try something new. Belleville’s not really wanting for good Mexican restaurants(aside from the aforementioned, Dos Gorditos is also very good, and Zapata’s in Swansea is worth a visit), but MiCasa is out on the West End where restaurants have been vanishing left and right, and we’d heard it was worth checking out. Our tipster was correct — MiCasa is very good. The menu is fairly similar to what you’d find at any of these places, but they had a lot of specials that sounded quite interesting. My wife and I each got an entrée(a seafood chimichanga for her, and a mushroom quesadilla for me!), and our toddler daughter got her own smaller quesadilla. Everything was fried, but it was delicious. Whatever they did to my mushrooms made them taste amazing, and I made sure none of them went to waste. The service was about what I expect from a Mexican restaurant — not the most attentive, but quick and polite. The seating area is converted from an old Wendy’s, so there aren’t any large tables and the booths tend to line the perimeter. This isn’t a great place to take a large family, but it is good for a couple or a group of 3 – 4 people. They seemed to have a lot of regulars stopping in, which I take to be a good thing. We were quite pleased with the experience, and we were in and out for dinner in about a half an hour. The only complaint I have is that the food was greasy enough to give my toddler some pretty nasty diapers(and subsequent diaper rash) a few hours later. But while she was eating, she was loving it, making loud«Mmmmmmm!» noises as she shoved her quesadilla into her mouth. My wife and I will certainly go back to MiCasa, but our toddler might have to wait until she’s potty trained.

Since I work close to this restaurant, I eat there almost weekly. The building is a remodeled Wendy’s restaurant building. They did a great job giving it a casual Mexican restaurant atmosphere. The friendliness of the workers a this restaurant is what first comes to mind. They are a great bunch of guys and work hard to keep the place clean, and keep the food quality and service great. They have the«typical» Mexican restaurant combination menus, for lunch time, and the prices are reasonable. I generally order the Chile Relleno, Taco, Guac Salad combo, but I have had their tamales and quesedillas as well. I cannot say that I was ever disappointed with the food or the service at this restaurant.

We really do enjoy this local mexican restaurant a lot. The waiters are always very kind and attentive, its close to home and easy to get to, and overall the food is decent. This is my kids’ favorite restaurant and they beg to go here just about any time we are going to eat out. Admittedly it is a redecorated Wendy’s but I can appreciate that it is being repurposed and is now the location of a new, thriving business. I’d much rather see that, then the run down and now vacant Arby’s down the street. Quick tip: Seafood enchiladas are very yummy here!

Haven’t experienced much in the way of decent Tex/Mex or just Mex east of the Colorado border… The chips were good, the salsa okay(needs a bit of help). Didn’t have much in the way of carnitas on the menu and didn’t see chorizo so I decided to settle for the burritos. I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised with the beef and bean, then chicken burrito. Nice flavor however(coma) where’s the green chile? Okay I’m quite bias towards the green chile and consider the red quite inferior, but come on doesn’t the green chile flow east? Haven’t found it yet and I’ll keep searching. Now that I’m done ranting, I would come back with no hesitation.

Service is FAST and friendly! Gear place to go for quick lunch or dinner. Food is tasty although sometimes dishes come out more bland than I would prefer. nothing a little salt and pepper can’t fix. Servers are attentive and friendly. but not overly attentive. They call you amigo and I like that. american servers won’t great you and call you friend!(Admittedly that would be weird!) no matter what I order I always their in a chile relleno for good measure! If in belleville for quick lunch definitely give Mi Casa a try!

Mi Casa is a great place for good Mexican food. The service is excellent the minute you wall in the door. Our family of 4 can eat for under $ 40 depending on if we order appetizers and desserts. Anytime is a good time to go. Their carry-out is just as big as their dine-in plates. We had my husband’s birthday here and they treated him right. even down to the fried ice cream in the face. Just a good time all around!!!
