Although the people who work here are lovely, the quality of the alterations is terrible. I had a bridesmaid dress altered so short even flat sandals were showing completely and it was also way too big in the waist. I had jeans taken in at the ankle and the first time I got them back I couldn’t even tell they were altered. The second time was almost just as bad. One dress and the jeans cost me over $ 200 and now I have to go to a new tailor to spend more because I don’t trust their service. Not worth your money.

Based on reviews brought pair of trousers to be hemmed. Told 2 – 3 days and went to pick up actually a week later. Not ready. Told definitely 2 days. Two days passed and called by Hartmanns to say they can’t make the«deadline» and needed more time. Called and said will be picking up and cancel the job. At pick up, the person cluelessly asked«what is the big deal… why so mad?» Politely answered that when you yourself set a deadline and cannot even keep it TWICE don’t expect happy customers. He didn’t seem to care and continued with the«no big deal… why so angry» mumbling.

I love Hartmanns. Siegfried is a great tailor and a funny guy, you will not be disappointed. I’ve had three suits fitted by him now and all were done within two days. If you’ve had tailoring done, you know how amazingly fast this is. And he’s entertaining to boot! It’s not the cheapest place in the world, but hey — as with everything else you get what you pay for.

I’ve taken several suits here to get tailored and my wife has taken a few dresses. Siegfried it a great guy and does amazing work. He’s been doing this type of work for many years and his skill is very evident. This place is a little on the spendy side, but we think it’s better to pay a little more up front for quality than to pay more later on down the road when you have to get your tailoring re-done.

I cannot say enough good things about Siegfried Hartmann and his services. After losing over 80 pounds, he’s had each of my suits through two cycles; some of them thrice. Every time, the fit was impeccable. Some of the suits have needed total rebuilding and it is impossible to tell that they’ve been reconstructed. This man is an artist; a true European craftsman who takes pride in his work and it shows. His rates are reasonable(I think he’s giving me frequent-flyer discounts now…) and he has great suggestions about how to improve the cut of the clothes as my physique is changing over time. Outstanding work, outstanding services.

Made two pairs of pants that have lasted years. One pair started pilling around the back of the thighs(later I figured out this was caused by velcro on my bag swinging against my legs), they remade using different fabric for only the cost of the material. Very fair!

I was under a short timeline to have a tuxedo shirt made for a black tie event. I can’t wear one off the rack since I’m so tall and thin. I went to Hartmanns not expecting them to be able to make one for me on time. Not only were they able to make one for me, the fabric was top notch and the shirt was tailored exactly how I described it to them. Pricing was very reasonable for service rendered.

The alterations done at this establishment are impeccable. Top notch. What I take issue with is the customer service. I went in to get three items altered and was not given an estimate. To be fair, we didn’t ask. When my husband went to pick up the items, it was over $ 200 with tax. Yeah. I mean. Wow. When my husband balked(and he’s a mild balker — he’s a low-key guy), the woman who co-owns the place was terse and rude. «You still have to pay for it» and«next time, ask.» Guess what: There ain’t gonna be a next time.
