Stop looking for a new Dr. — - Go to Red Cedar Wellness near Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. I saw Dr. Janile Martin today for the first time and was so impressed with her. Here’s just a few reason’s why:
She came to the waiting room to meet me and take me back to her comfortable office/​exam room. What Dr. Does that? It’s usually a nurse who takes you back, weighs you, asks you if you have any issues, takes your BP and then gives you a thin paper smock to put on while you wait in the sterile room for the dr to arrive. No thanks.
Dr. Martin had her laptop ready and we started chatting about why I was there (annual exam and questions about peri-​menopause symptoms I’ve been having for over a year.)
After going thru all my pertinent stuff, we moved to another exam room for the «official» physical exam. She turned up the heat as the room was a little chilly, and was professional and easy thru it all. I actually learned two things while chatting with her that had been concerns of mine for many, many years. She debunked my worries, the biggest being my thought for over 8 years that all of the hormones I’ve taken during multiple IVF’s gave me a greater risk for cancer some day… «Hormones don’t cause cancer» she said. Cancer cells are prone to «feed» on estrogen, but you’d need to have the cancer going in to begin with… Why had no other Dr told me this when I brought it up? I’ve been worrying needlessly for years that the over abundance of hormones I’ve done put me at a much greater risk to create cancer.
After the exam we went back to her «office» room to talk over things. She gave me a printout for the Paleo/​Meditterandean diet as nutrition suggestions, a great web site for recipes, suggestion for either hormone replacement or supplements, and additional supplements she thought would be good for my particular situation. Through it all she was friendly and yet professional, very knowledgable and had an easy demeanor.
As a Naturopathic Doctor, an experienced Nurse Practitioner and accupuncturist, Dr. Martin has it all. I am so happy I found her practice and recommend it highly to anyone looking for a new family doctor. And as an added bonus, REALLY easy to schedule appointments with her online.
