Located right next to Taj Palace, which is the fancier sit down restaurant, Taj Chaat has a spacious, neat and clean space. We ordered at the counter, and found a table to sit. We tried the paneer kathi roll, dahi puri, chole bhature and mango shake. The chole were exceptional! The bhature were well made too. Paneer kathi roll was average, and the dahi puri chaat seemed a little off. Mango shake had too much ice cream(vanilla I think) so it was too sweet. Would recommend the chole(with bhature, kulcha, samosa chaat etc) and I’ll probably be back to try some other chaats or dishes!

Loved the chaat here. It surely fulfilled my chaat cravings… We tried Malai Kofta as well. It was just awesome. The service was great too. The lady at the counter was very polite and was ready and willing to take any special requests I am definitely going there again.

Went here because of all the reviews but it did not meet our expectations. The Dahi Batata Puri tasted stale — both the potatoes and the puri. The vada pav is some weird mini-burger type deal, the bread for it tasted stale or maybe it was too yeasty. The biryani was good, though it tasted like thawed and microwaved food. Maybe we ordered all the wrong things — but then they shouldn’t be on the menu.

I cannot believe this place has not caught on, the food is wayyy better some of the other hyped up chat places like chat N roll. Hits: 1)Samosa chat: both the samosa and the chole are cooked to perfection and are delicious. Haven’t eaten a better samosa chat in the puget sound area. 2)Onion kulcha and chole: Same as above. 3) Chicken kati roll: Cooked to perfection meat, could have been seasoned a little more, the green chutney made up for it. Misses/OKs: Vada pav is not great, especially if you have mumbai standards. Parathas are good not great.

Update: 9÷11÷2014 — looks like this place is closed now. Amazing food at the Taj Chaat and Sweets. Unbelievably great authentic Indian taste. I’m a big fan of Taj Palace(next door — more sit down place + has great lunch buffets/dinner options) and this is another snacks place they’ve opened up next door. I often vist the Taj Palace for lunch with my colleagues but tried the chaat place for the first time today. We were in a group of six people and in between us, we ordered a lot of different items. The food was fresh, aromatic and tasted almost(if not better) as good as the food I get back home in India. It was clean and the service was quick. We didn’t actually plan on ordering so much but the tasty food made us try more things. Amazing value for money. As an Indian food connoisseur, the Taj Palace set of food outlets are one of my favorite food places in the Redmond/Bellevue/Kirkland area. The other two are Kanishka in Redmond and Clay Pitt in Bothell. The things I loved best in order were Samosa chaat(comes with a nice chole topping), onion kulcha with chole, Paneer Tikka Masala Thali(comes with naan and rice), Aloo Paratha, Dahi batata puri, etc. I didn’t like the Vada Pav though. Highly recommended, definitely one of the places I’ll look forward to going to for an evening snack or dinner.

Taj Chaat & Sweet was still open 10am although the lady was already cleaning up. She said usually the kitchen closes at 945, but still was friendly and allowed me to order take-out. Also explained the menu and made suggestions. The place is clean and no-frills, but the food was AWESOME… I had mango lassi and mattar panneer(peas curry with cheese), naan bread was a good blend of fluffy & chewy. I gave a 20% tip for the friendly service & going the extra mile for a customer — I don’t think she saw it, but in the end she gave me FREE rice pudding on the house(I’d like to think it was my personality… but maybe it’s because she was happy to made one more sale and had some extra rice pudding sitting around)

A combo specialty store and restaurant. Came across it randomly looking for another restaurant. Decided to try their vegetable samosas; two hot and two to go from the fridge up front. The one person working(co/owner I assumed) came off as a little unfriendly but food was decent and very cheap — less than $ 4 for two samosas and a Coke.

I have been a few times here since it opened. It’s right next to its parent restaurant Taj Palace. This one is for chaat(snacks/appetizers) and sweets(dessert). They seem to have the most variety as compared to other places nearby. I tried the Vegetable Roll, Samosa and vada paav. Taste was awesome. I didn’t like the chai though. Could be improved.
