Let’s start with this wasn’t an event I planned. I normally don’t think dangling from a cable 80′ in the air is a good idea. However, it was a dear friend’s birthday request to go zip lining, so I paid my dues and stepped up to the harness. We were in a group of eight(max size) and I’m glad that’s the max. There’s only so much room on those platforms! While there were a couple seasoned pros, there was also a few like myself. The guides were fantastic. Shout out to Tanner and Laura. They would be part orangutan, only on that they swung around the trees with complete ease and helped me feel more comfortable. They cracked jokes, told us little nuggets of information, and kept us secure and moving along. After 6.5 zips(it makes sense when you do the course), the bridges were the hardest part. They each knew every line so well they gave tips for dismount and tricks to try if you felt so inclined, and also gave me the assurance of ‘it only takes about xx seconds to cross this one” when I was scared. Kudos. I did it and don’t think I hated it. That says a lot. Definitely a good option if you are looking for something different to do or some place to take an out-of-towner. While I wouldn’t recommend this for kids, teenagers may enjoy it.

This week I had Orientation week in Washington for my new job and we had to attend this«Ropes Course» which was a team building event. On Monday they took us here at this Challenging Course or «Ropes Course.» So the whole purpose of us going to this place and doing their activities is to see how we work in certain tough and uncomfortable situations as a team and learn how to trust each others decision processes even though you may disagree with what they suggest. We didn’t do the high ropes course, we were mainly on the ground but some of the obstacles that were given to us were pretty hard and challenging but as a team we were able to complete each task without getting frustrated with each other. Friday was our first day on the job and Monday we had to do this«Ropes Course» and I mean you have to come across awkward situations that you are not used to, especially with people you have only met once in your life. But overall I think this was a great opportunity as a team building event, and we were all really sore the rest of the week because you do work out certain muscles that you are not used to. A few examples of some of things that we had to do: We had a hacky sack and it had to touch everyone’s hands once and it was timed and we had to feel confident that we beat the other groups time. If the hacky sack fell on the ground we had to start all over again or if it touched someones hands twice. We did a tight rope course, so there was a square of tight ropes that were probably no more than 3 – 6 inches off the ground. There was 20 of us and half of us had to go in one direction and the rest of us had to go in the opposite direction… this requires tons of holding hands, and everyone is in your own personal space, and the worst part is, you cant touch the ground… and if you do, you have to start at point A again. I fell off twice, and I almost gave up but my team kept rooting me on and was able to give me the resources I needed to finish the job! =)
