The Eyecare Center

Absolutely no complaints from my visit today: even though I was a few minutes late, the staff was very accommodating… They were ready for me, and quick. From the receptionist to the assistant to the ophthalmologist Dr. Kwong, everything ran smoothly. They had my insurance information all figured out to show me what was covered, and what wasn’t, which is always the most difficult part of the process. Will definitely be back!

To be honest I LOVED the doctor but the rest of the service was TERRIBLE.
After I was finished with my exams the person who makes the glasses (older man) kept grabbing glasses for me to try on because HE thought they would look nice. Ones that I kept saying were not my style, even after trying them on, he kept trying to convince me to get because HE liked them. He kept putting them on my face for me like I was a child and wouldn’t let me put them on myself. I finally said I was just going to sit and wait for my boyfriend to get there to help me decide. He still kept coming over and putting glasses on my face. Once I decided on a pair he started adding all these things to them like «oh these are the best lenses for optics, oh you work with computers so this would be a better coating» and added it all up and handed it to me to go pay. my insurance pays $ 160 for glasses and it still came to a $ 150 out of pocket.
EVEN WORSE! I got to the front desk and the lady there looked at my form and started saying «oh it looks like they forgot to charge you for this, this this and this» all kinds of stuff making my total around $ 250 out of pocket. when I said «woo I cant do that, I cant do the glasses then. «she gave me all kinds of attitude, pulled my checkbook from me and said I had to pay at least half of it and talked to me like I was stupid.
I’ve never felt more disrespected, pressured and obligated in my life. I’ve had ALL of the same procedures done at other eye doctors with the same plan and never paid anything out of pocket. and that’s with getting all exams, contacts and glasses.

I’ve been going to Dr. Rumpf for almost 15 years now and can’t say enough good things about the Eyecare Center. From when I was wearing contacts to now when I’ve had Lasik, I always get the best care and really appreciate that Dr. Rumpf always explains what is going on with my eyes and why he is suggesting specific treatments for them. I recommend them whenever anyone is looking for a new eye doctor.

This was my first time at The Eyecare Center and I had a great experience. The staff at the front desk was extremely friendly and made me feel comfortable. Even though my appointment was at 11:15 am, they took me in early. I was taken into a room for a pre-​exam checkup by Josh. He was also friendly and explained all the procedures to me well. Thereafter Dr. Susan Kwong examined me. The doctor made me feel extremely comfortable and kept on giving information to me about my eyes which was helpful. In the end, I also got 10 dollars off for being a first time visitor! Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend this center to everyone!

Every single person, from the reception folks to the person who leads you back and conducts the first series of tests to the Doctor to the optician who helps you select frames and lens options was absolutely first rate. Best experience by far with any optical shop. Certainly my new gold standard and a new loyal customer!

For some reason I have been called twice now about a scheduled appointment that I never setup as I already did my routine exam recently. I told them the first time that I did not book it, so it should have been taken off the schedule then. Strange situation to say the least.

Rude! I had ordered contacts, and they ran my card. Apparently they called me never got a voice mail called back to tell them my friend was picking them. They told him my card had declined! I had sufficient funds not sure what error this was. What is upsetting to me is that… They were very forward with him as to my card being declined. Couldn’t have they been a little more private and sensitive?! Calling me out like that determined my business with them! I will not be going or referring anyone there.

Can’t comment on their doctors, I got my prescription here a couple years ago. This time, I went somewhere else for a new prescription, but came back here for my frames & lenses.
Boy, was that a mistake. Miserable selection of frames, and they take two weeks to make! I need my glasses to drive, so they assured me my order would be expedited. Two weeks later, I get the call that they’re ready.
I show up to pick them up on my way to work, and I’m asked to wait «just a minute» so a doctor can clean and fit them for me. After ten minutes, I just took my glasses and left.
If you have all the time in the world, this place is good enough. The staff is friendly and the place is nice and clean. But if you have any sort of schedule to keep, I recommend somewhere else.

WARNING — lots of out of pocket charges.
Went there for the first time a couple weeks ago, and I was very disappointed. Except for the $ 10 equipment fee which you pay out of pocket and they do tell you that beforehand, everything else is hidden and you have to pay after the service is rendered. They do not tell the customer beforehand, and do not explain in details of the charges afterwards, simply stating that insurance do not pay for it.
I know for sure that my insurance covers regular eye exam 100%, but still ended up paying $ 45 out of pocket for the visit.
The Assistant had to retake lots of high exposure pictures during my exam, so not a good experience overall. I recommend look elsewhere for your eye care exam.

This place lives up to the awesome reviews, I had a wonderful experience. I saw Dr. Kwong — she was professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. I will be back next year and would highly recommend The Eyecare Center to others.

They are horribly expensive. They listed a bunch of fees for everything and I ended up paying over $ 400 for basic frames and progressive lenses WITH insurance.

I had a great experience with The Eyecare center and Dr. Kwong. Generally everyone is friendly, and I had a few visits — one for my eye exam, another to check how my contacts fit, and a third to pick up the contacts when they arrived. While they’re spread a little thin at lunch time, what office isn’t? Waiting a few minutes for quality service doesn’t bother me and they seem to move pretty quickly.
The best part about this place (other than that they accept my insurance) is that they don’t dilate your eyes. Instead they use this machine to look inside your eyes making dilation unnecessary — and be honest, who wants that done?! it does cost $ 10, but it’s worth it to me to avoid dilation. The most interesting part was the explanation of the images.
I have pretty good eyesight but I have an astigmatism, so my prescription is minimal… but I hate feeling like I have to squint to try, and fail to see. I really love sunglasses. I wish I could wear them all the time (but I hate the sun… now that’s an interesting realization). But with glasses I could only wear my prescription sunglasses, which was a bummer. After finding contacts that came in my piddly prescription, Dr. Kwong fitted me for contacts that make me so very happy.
All in all, a wonderful experience each and every time.

They take care of their customers! I see Dr. Lindbergh and really enjoy his dedication to my eye care. I had to see him on an emergency in the spring and got in same day. Ended up needing a referral to a specialist and he knew just who to send me to, but also stayed informed with my case and follow up. Very impressive.
Great for yearly exams with great technology! He explains so much with the images they get. Works hard to find the right Rx and contact brand too. I love the office ladies also. Got glasses (because they worked with my insurance to get me the BEST use of my insurance between contacts and glasses) and their assistants are helpful and honest in finding a good frame for you! Loved that!
They also are using online programming with your file so it’s easily accessible and you have your Rx should you need it. Happy to work with these professionals!

I went in for an exam today. The staff was very friendly. Scheduling and parking were easy. I didn’t wait long to be seen (5min, tops). They seem to be very up to date on eye technology. My eyes were scanned by lots of machines, in addition to the usual, «which is clearer, A or B?» The doc went over all the scans and was pleasant but informative. I didn’t order glasses, but I did order contacts. I will take the rest of my family back for their exams.

Dr. Lindberg is great at addressing my concerns and finding the lenses with the right power for me. I used to prefer to have lenses with less power, but Dr. Lindberg clearly told me the reasons that I should not do so, and worked out the right solution for me. This is not a cheap place, but I think that the service worth the price.

Very efficient and friendly group. The staff greeted me as I walked in and I immediately had my exam and saw Dr. Rumpf. Dr. Rumpf is very knowledgeable and excellent at explaining the process and results. The exam was very thorough and comfortable.
I would highly recommend Dr. Rumpf and the Eyecare Center to anyone looking for high quality eye care.

Great experience with Dr. B! Plus, the whole staff seemed super friendly and easy to work with. They even checked in on me while I was waiting for Dr. B, to see if I needed water or a magazine – super sweet!
They have a huge selection of frames to choose from, which I appreciate!
FYI: They use a machine, you pay extra $ 10 for, instead of dilating your eyes. I hate having my eyes dilated, so I didn’t mind, but you may want to know about that option.
My optician was great and helped me pick out cute frames; I like that she was super honest about how they looked on me and that she didn’t push expensive product on me – thank you.
My only suggestion: when a client picks&purchases their eye wear, tangibly & visually show them on paper the break down of the costs, what insurance covers, and what features are included. This helps us make the best decision regarding our eye wear as well as makes us feel good about the process.
Overall, great experience and happy client!

I’ve been blessed with excellent eye-​sight: I’m middle-​aged, and still don’t need glasses.
So sayeth the optometrists at The Eyecare Center in Bellevue.

Now, on to the review:
I’ve been getting my eyes checked at The Eyecare Center for about 6 years. Each time, I’m ready to hear Those Words… someday, I know I will have to pick a set of frames that will define my personality. In fact, this place was recommended to me because of the great help they give when picking frames. (I think I’ll be nervous when that time comes… good to know I’ll have a fashion advisor there for me.)
Anyway…Don’t be afraid to get your vision checked!
«Oh, I don’t want my pupils dilated!» you say???
Pshaw! This place doesn’t dilate your pupils! Nope. They’ve got high-​tech equipment to test all aspects of your vision — without dilating your pupils!
When I brought my (then)6 year old in to get his eyes checked, the technicians explained that looking through the machines was like playing a videogame. My son wasn’t scared at all. (And hooray! He doesn’t need glasses — yet! ;)
The location is great & easy to find — it’s off of 8^th street, in a one-​story office building (or is it more like a small strip mall?), with plenty of parking out front. Definite bonus.

I called because of an issue with my right eye. They fit me in right before lunch. They are easy to find and have plenty of parking. There are lots of toys in the front for children to keep occupied.
I was only in the front for about 5 minutes before I was called to come to the back. Dr. Rumpf came in after about 10 minutes. I was with the assistant for 5 of those minutes.
The exam was quick. He gave me some anti-​bacterial eye drops and instructions on how to remedy the situation.
All of the associates, including Dr. Rumpf, were very kind and answered my 8 year old’s questions. He is very curious about everything.
They also gave me a discount for the visit. That was unexpected. If we are in the area when I need my annual exam, I will return to this location. It was a very pleasant and professional visit.

Most people don’t spend a lot of time thinking about the merits of a good Optometrist but for those of us who have worn glasses or contacts for years on end, a good eye doctor is worth finding and keeping around.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Rumpf for more than 15 years and can’t say enough about the great practice he, his colleagues, and terrific staff have built in Bellevue. The Eyecare Center is a full service clinic with a frame shop on site and a comfy waiting area that includes toys for the kids. They provide a very thorough checkup with all of the tests and exams you could ask for plus plenty of time with your doctor to address your questions. Things usually go very smoothly but if something goes wrong they will always work with you to fix it.
The Eyecare Center is a great place and will continue to be my clinic of choice for years to come.
