I’ve taken lessons with Mr. Wellwood for 4 years. Very friendly and very knowledgeable. He’ll go with the student’s learning pace, but at the same time encourages the students to work harder. For the parents who are interested in having their children do CM, he is a CM instructor. I along with several of his other students at the time won competitions under his tutelage.

In high school, I took clarinet lessons at IAMS from Dr. Wellwood. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and was impressed by the structured approach towards each lesson. My previous clarinet teacher was also very good, but with Dr. Wellwood I was able to not only learn musical pieces, but also improve my sight-​reading because I practiced the scales, arpeggios, and other commonly occurring musical patterns necessary for this. I was able to effectively build up my musical repertoire to the point that when I sight-​read music, I could recognize parts of it from my practicing, and could excel in my studies. I was in Symphonic Winds, an audition-​only, competitive band at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, and Dr. Wellwood’s lessons were enormously helpful! I am sure that other instructors at IAMS are of a similar caliber to Dr. Wellwood, but since I can’t speak much to that, I will just say that I definitely recommend trying out the Institute of Art Music and Science for yourself, whatever your musical interest!

I’ve been taking my violin lesson for almost 4 years with Ms Lee and she is a very talented teacher/​musician and a kind person. I’ve been with a lot of teachers who taught me violin and Ms Lee was the only one who I have learned a lot from. Teachers at her school is high quality mostly from USC. I highly recommend this school especially for kids or adults for after school activity. They offer a variety of lessons aside from violin, like cello, flute, clarinet, drums, piano, voice, art class, and robotics.

I got the Unilocal deal and it’s enough for 4 lessons only. I enrolled in piano classes. I have a background in music, so it helped. I was not able to continue and only did 3 lessons due to my busy schedule. I liked the classes overall. My teacher was very nice and appeared knowledgeable. One of the reasons I decided to go was because they are trained professional musicians themselves. Many are professors and teach.

I am a beginner jazz guitarist and I started getting lessons here two weeks ago. When I started the lesson, I realized how much I needed it! It was so informing!
The instructor is a very good guitarist and from what I was taught, he knows what he is doing and can lead you in the correct direction. I find that having a bad experience here is going to be very, very rare.
Overall, great staff and teacher.

Amazing art & music school, they work around your schedule. The director is very nice! Helpful and very cooperative. My kids have being taking piano lessons for over a year and they love it. My son is 9 years old he was very hyper active at school, therefore almost impossible to stay focus for 8 hours in a classroom! A friend of mine suggested the piano lessons to help him develop the skills needed to improve in school. It has been the best investment! Not only he is one of the best students now! But he has develop a love for classical music. Teachers are very helpful and patient!

First day of my sons piano lessons. Teacher was very nice and patience, my son really enjoyed it, I even added another day of lessons. This is the real deal.

This is a place like no other music studio in the area, because they attract Great talent. Most important, one can feel the energy and excitement because the teachers love music and to teach it. That enthusiasm and passion is transferred to the students. The teaching approach is about striving to give the students a solid music foundation by helping them master the precise skills so they can build and grow with ease and truly enjoy playing. My son started when he was nine and sadly had to stop when he went away to college this year. My second son has been studying since he was 7 and is now 16. Once they are both in college I will take lessons because I could not be away from this place. Ms. Eunji Lee, the founder and director and master violinist is the heart of IAMS. It is clear to see that her desire is to give the joy of music to all children in the community. She understands, what parents know who bring their kids to music, that music makes kids more confident in all other aspects of life and school. In a nutshell, The Institute of Arts Music and Science is really a community of Music Lovers. If you love music and you wish to learn from and among passionate music lovers, then this is the place for you. If you wish to gift your children the ability to play a musical instrument and the love and appreciation of music, then this is the place too.

My experience has been awesome here. Enrolled my daughter for piano lessons 2 years ago with Becky and I am so happy with the growth she has had. Instructors Becky and Jessica are super talented themselves but are also great instructors. Eunjui Lee (she runs the «show») is probably one of the nicest people I have ever met. This place is definitely a hidden gem in Bellflower and I consider myself so lucky to have found it

Staff is friendly, and I really liked my son’s teacher. I agree with a previous Unilocaler who said that the instructors are highly qualified.
My issue was with the Unilocal deal being offered. I had a hard time getting it honored! I’m no mathematician, but if lessons are $ 30 each, a credit of 160 gives you 5 lessons and $ 10 towards a 6^th, right? Well, unfortunately Ms. Lee, the person there, tried to tell me that the credit was only good for 4 lessons! We talked it over and finally, resolved the issue amicably. However, today, my husband took my son for lessons, and upon arranging payment for the recent lessons, again, Ms Lee tried to over-​charge us! She said we had to pay for a lesson, which my son did not attend because THEY (the studio) called and cancelled it on us!
I’m sad because I really liked the instructor, but they definitely need someone to do their books and maybe take role of their students? While I don’t think the intention of the person i dealt with was ill, I just don’t feel that I can trust them anymore! Am I going to have to duke it out every month for extra charges?! Thanks, but no thanks… Today was my son’s last day at Institute of Art, Music and Science.

This a very good music school. The teachers are all highly qualified and friendly. They do all they can to accommodate your kid’s schedule.
They put on annual recitals for the children to perform before parents and friends.

Our 4-​year-​old is taking violin with Ms. Lee. She loves it and is making great progress. Ms. Lee is a wonderful violin teacher!
