I recently met Dr. Young while shopping for new frames at Advanced Vision. Although my exam had been performed in Florida, Dr. Young seemed friendly and welcomed me to the office. I was assisted by Jill, who radiates great energy and she is extremely knowledgable regarding her passion — assisting clients find the perfect frames and lenses. Jill is very patient, and her professional humor is refreshing and appreciated. My frames and lenses were prepared on-time and I receive numerous compliments on them while traveling and working. Thank you Jill and Advanced Vision for providing great service and stylish frames. Your Florida client, JBF

Dr. Young and his entire staff were b friendly and efficient. I appreciated the time they all spent with me explaining the tests and results. Dr. Young goes above and beyond in his exam and teaching of proper eye health.

They have all the latest equipment to make sure your eye care is just as good as it can be. There is always a relaxed atmosphere in the place and it clear they really care about making sure you get the right glasses. There may be cheaper places in town but, as a photographer, I can’t take chances with my eyesight and so it is worthwhile coming to Advanced Vision.

I have returned to Dr. Youngs practice at Advanced Vision. Years ago I left because of billing issues but always remembered what a great Dr. he was. Recently I had some vision issues that the doctor I had been seeing at lenscrafters could not figure out. Dr. Young has always been great and his current staff is very friendly and professional. I am glad to be back.

My wife went to get her vision checked by Dr. Young he was a great doctor and took very good care of her, and the other employees there were great to. I will defiantly be going there myself when i need my eyes looked at too. I would rate by price but my insurance covered everything minus part of the cost for the glasses.

My family, like others, followed Dr. Young from Costco to Lenscrafters to Advanced Vision. We did so because we found him to be very competent and professional. My mother presented with advanced Alzheimer’s. Dr. Young spent two hours testing her. It was one of the most stressful experiences I have witnessed, but he stuck with it, trying several techniques to test and communicate with her. I would give him five stars. On the other hand, one has to deal with the staff. To add to what others have said, one of them actually tried for ten minutes to pressure-test my eyes while I was wearing contact lenses. I finally asked if that was the proper procedure, and she had to ask someone else! We have had some of the same billing problems others’ have mentioned. However, in the last two weeks or so, we have been called several times by a new staffer, who has cleared up at least some of the problems, and she assures us that she was hired to clear up the mess created by now-departed employees. My wife was in there last week, and said all the staff but one was new to her. I just scheduled an appointment, and will be assessing the current staff with an eye(no pun intended!) to going elsewhere if there is no improvement.

For my 100th review on Unilocal,I’ve decided to honor Dr. Spencer Young, who has been my optometrist for over 7 years. And it all started with a frank, honest, and thorough answer to a very simple question triggered by the new patient questionnaire. I’m the curious, inquisitive sort, and after filling out the initial forms, randomly asked how exactly a particular condition listed related to eye care. Dr. Young surprised me with a measured, concerned, and concise response that shared not just his expertise but passion and care for his craft. It was immediate, specific information regarding my health that incorporated my family history and revealed possible future consequences — in less than 3 minutes after meeting me! He was clearly someone with whom you could communicate in an honest way, which should be the #1 thing you look for in a service provider who will touch important areas of your life. He has never once talked down to me or made me feel silly — no matter the question asked. And it’s because of this that I’ve followed Dr. Young from when he was at residence at Costco and then LensCrafters to now his own full service practice in Bellingham. His staff is warm, friendly, and exceedingly helpful. I have never felt rushed, ignored, or patronized — all of my questions, issues, and concerns are always addressed promptly and thoroughly. Even now that I’ve moved to the big city, I’ll still make the drive to work with a team I trust and can count on. Dr. Young has never once recommended a product or procedure that wasn’t right for me. He helped me make the transition from glasses to contact lenses despite my initial trepidation, and my last pair of glasses were a great pair of Sean John’s that I adore. Here’s to many more years of a beautiful working relationship with a team that’s really more like extended family. Quick Tips: *Use the website for research and to save yourself some time. You can print out pre-appt forms and make your appointments online. *You can try a walk-in appt but I’d call first just to be sure — they’re usually pretty busy. *If you have any insurance or payment questions or issues, let them know right away — they’ll work with you when possible.
