This is my favorite long-time Resturant in Bellingham! The food is always good at times exceeding my expectations. There are some dishes that are for the daily special for a change of pace. The main menu is small enough that they can be very good at it and big enough to give me variety when I want it. They have a full bar and have great drinks! My favorite main dishes are the meatballs, chicken or pork souvlaki, beef or chicken gyros OR I love getting the Greek dinner for two! The GDF2 are several appetizer items, 2 salads and several main dishes with rice or potatoes(or you can have both!). I absolutely love the egg lemon soup and now there is a lentil soup that is great!!! I have been enjoying this place for 25 years and still love it!!! My kids love it too and now they go there for dates and when we want to celebrate, they request this place. Since I have a big family(5 kids, 4 of which are big eating boys) it wasn’t always very feasible to take all the kids to a semi formal Resturant all the time but they started selling their sauces in containers and I’ve been able to have many a gyros night at home very reasonably without compromising on the flavor! It’s also great that they can make them up however they want and have two! I would definitely consider them if you are needing catering and have asked representatives wanting to hawk their products to bring me food from here. Great portion sizes, reasonable prices and fresh food! They are now using more and more locally sourced foods and organic ingredients which is nice. I’ll keep going to my favorite place!

My wife and I had the Greek Platter for two and were very impressed with the quality and freshness of the food. The whole meal was delicious. The décor was pleasant, and the service was friendly and prompt. Don’t usually 5 star, but I can’t see why not from the experience we had there. Nice to find a new gem downtown!

This review is strictly for take-out. I ordered a lamb gyro dinner entrée for take-out last night and was a bit surprised by the price… around $ 18 after taxes. Was it worth $ 18? Nah… to me, it was probably worth more so around $ 12-$ 13. Really delicious tender slices of lamb but small portion. Rice was delicious! Soft, fluffy and very flavorful. Potatoes were alright. Greek salad and slice of garlic bread, I could have gone without. Overall, would I come back here again? Two stipulations: only if I don’t feel like driving to Mykonos(near the airport) AND only if Mediterranean Specialties Café(on 32nd st) isn’t open…

I cannot say what the restaurant is like on the inside as I only placed an order. What I am giving them 4 stars on is the food. I purchased the family style which included a little of everything and had it set to my daughter as a gift. She said the food was delicious. So I would use them again. It was recommended to me by someone else that lives in the area and said it was their favorite restaurant. Also they delivered it right when I told them to…

Delicious food, good prices. Server suggested a falafel gyro and it was the perfect meal.

It is not easy finding lamb served in Bellingham restaurants. Akroteri’s gyros(using roasted leg of lamb) offers a fine balance of flavors and textures. Their shrimp souvlaki is exceptional, perfectly seasoned and grilled. When available, the lentil soup is fully satisfying, but sometimes a little too peppery. However, the lamb chops and rack of lamb can sometimes be too chewy, almost tough.(I understand that it may not be easy to find a local, reliable lamb supplier.) Service is always cordial and accommodating. Unlike many new, hard edged, crowded, and noisy restaurants, Akroteri is soft-edged, spacious, and quiet – very old-world and civilized – worth becoming a regular.

What a fabulous evening! My future father-in-law planned a little«congrats on your engagement» dinner and our server, Amy was awesome. I loved her! I think we should be friends. So, the service was beyond amazing. The food was also some of the best Greek food ever. We were stuffed after our appetizers and lemon soups. We also got the roasted half chicken to share, which was pretty good, but wasn’t my favorite thing. Their cocktails are also amazing. I got the Greek 75 and the Helen of Troy. I definitely felt that the next day. Wish I could return more often!

Happy hour? Yes, please. 25% off appetizers. A light, balanced spanakopita, a spicy feta spread with warm, fresh pita, $ 1 off local drafts… my wife and I had a good date meal/drinks for under $ 20. Personable wait staff, nice downtown Bellingham location, with an easy walk to other nightlife and to views of the bay. FTW.

Delicious! Food was awesome, and the gyro was a perfect amount of food. Prices might scare away a college student at first glance, but once the food started coming we knew we’d made a great choice. The lamb gyro came with Greek salad, rice or lemon garlic potatoes and bread, and was definitely worth the $ 16. I wish that more people knew about this place! We’ll be back for sure.

I drive by here all the time and somehow I had never noticed this place until just recently. Wish I had found it sooner! Love that they have parking for customers so you don’t have to feed the meters if you can nab a spot. Food is very good too — the gyro/Greek salad combo is my favorite dish here but the souvlaki is also excellent. The service is the only thing that I am taking off a star for — both times I have been here, it’s not been what I would call friendly though the orders have been accurate and the food was cooked to satisfaction. Not rude just kind of standoffish and that threw me a bit. Otherwise a good experience!

The food is great but we had terrible service. We reserved a table for a birthday dinner. The waiter was a young man. He attempted to rush us through our meals and was not welcoming at all. He seemed bery irritated to even be working. We have not returned again and probably wont. Very disappointed.

I have been to the other Greek restaurants in Bellingham and this is definitely the best. Great food(all homemade!), good portions, friendly staff! It’s a good place to go for lunch or dinner. The sampler platter is great if you want to try some of everything. The hidden menu item to go for is the Greek ribs, they are seasoned perfectly and fall off the bone(seriously) delicious. Also, good drink selection with local brews on tap.

Tried this place for the first time and it was pretty good! Paid $ 15 for a lamb gyro, which comes with a salad, garlic bread and potatoes or rice so it was definitely worth the price. The meat was very juicey and tastey and the tzaziki sauce was delicious! Loooooved the feta. Good place for some greek food!

The best Greek food I’ve had in years — and it was delivered!(Through Viking Delivery). I love Bellingham but most of the food scene here leaves me wanting. Not this time. I ordered the standards — Hummus, Souvlaki & Dessert. Everything was clearly home made. It was all fresh and just scrumptious and the portions are large. I’m excited to eat a huge lunch of leftovers. My new fav go to take out!

Very delicious Greek food! The dressing on their salads is yummy! I got the chicken souvlaki. The chicken was cooked just right and super juicy. Bonus points for the gluten free pita which was pretty good also. You definitely get a lot of food for your money here.

Pretty decent Greek food for what it is. Have only gone for lunch and had the beef gyro with rice on the salad. Co-workers have ordered the Greek salad which always looks good. The gyros are always hot and tasty. The pita is always fresh as are the toppings. If you like garlic and like smelling like it definitely try it. They are always filled with a good amount of meat, however the amount of tzatziki is always lacking, and their typically tends to be too much feta for my liking. The dry saltiness of the feta tends to take over your mouth and overwhelm everything. All and all though it’s a good pretty inexpensive and filling lunch. I’ve only ordered take out and it isn’t the quickest, which surprises me because it’s never been busy when I’ve gone and the assembly of a gyro and addition of rice shouldn’t be a 30 minute wait.

My friend and I bypassed an Indian restaurant to eat at Café Akroteri for lunch. We sat outside to get what I think was a %10 discount on the appetizers. My friend ordered the Spanakopita and a bowl of soup which I forgot the name of. I ordered the Kalamari lunch plate. My friend said that her soup was ok, but the spanakopita was dry. Also when she asked for some zatziki sauce she wasn’t aware or told that she would be charged extra for it. My Kalamari plate with the salad was not bad. The breading coating the kalamari in my opinion could use some spicing up but all in all was ok.

The best part of dining here was our waitress, who was just an adorable ball of hipsterism, unicorns, and glitter. Seriously, happy people usually just irritate me, but she really was a breath of fresh air. The food was pretty darn good. My friend was not overly impressed with his lentil soup, and I thought the dolmades were nasty(I am in the minority, but the sauce on them made everything taste bitter to me), but the spanakopita, tirakopita, hummus, and other goodies on the sampler were fantastic. Note to Disabled: Reasonably accessible, has its own parking lot.
