Owner is very knowledgeable on the products and has been a pleasure to work with. The owner really cares about all of his customers and that is a great way to run a business.

Drove the 90 miles to visit Julian and was not disappointed. He spent almost 3 hours answering questions to help me make the best and most ethical decisions for stocking my tank. Prices are a little higher than elsewhere, but the quality, quarantine protocol and attention to the health and well-​being of their livestock is absolutely worth it. Drive to Bellingham and check them out. I guarantee you will walk away with a huge smile and a lighter wallet :)

I found this place after a bad experience with Clark’s, and I’m very happy I did. While it is smaller than Clark’s, the quality is *noticeably* far superior in a few ways:
1.The first thing I noticed was how clean all their tanks are. Water is crystal clear and no algae. At all. Anywhere.
2. Staff. Julian is the most informative and helpful salesman you’ll meet and his other employee is just as good.
3. I was extremely happy with the fact that almost all of (maybe all?) of their fish and corals are tank raised and aqua cultured.
The selection can be limited sometimes but he usually gets shipments on Sundays and I was told he can order me specifics if I’d like. I appreciate the quality over quantity approach and I’m happy I found this place!
Keep up the good work guys! If you haven’t visited, you should. Seriously

We are so lucky to have this store in Whatcom County! Julian (the owner) is incredibly knowledgeable and the store is magnificent! I have been in the hobby for 6 years and I have a 360 gallon mostly SPS reef display tank so am no novice but I continue to learn from Julian.
The livestock is healthy and the displays are always clean. I buy all my supplies through Crystal Reef — they can get me anything I need for usually for the same price as I could get anywhere else. Even if a few things cost a little bit more I think its so important to support my local vendor. Crystal Reef provides excellent service, ongoing personal education and healthy livestock. Its expensive to rent a building, pay the power bill, pay staff and all the other things necessary to run a business. I don’t know how Julian does it.
As far as price goes I do know that for things like setting up a new system they are considerably less expensive. A friend of mine got a quote from Clarks Feed and Seed and Crystal reef for the exact same system but Crystal Reefs price was at least $ 1000 less. She had Julian help her set it up this summer and its beautiful.
They also provide tank service and consulting — both of which I have been really happy with.

Finally a local store that caries, APEX, VorTek and Radions!!! Their knowledgeable employees are helpful, patient and kind. They will spend the time with you to make sure that you end up with exactly what you want. I highly reccomend this store and will be a loyal customer for many years to come :)
