El Capitán’s

What a strange place to be at 4 11:30pm! The vibe of the place is friendly enough (and of course I must mention that the hotdogs and brats are superb!) and the location and hours are really convenient for a late night snack. If you’re a night owl, make your way to downtown Bellingham for one of their many delicious sausages.

Bellingham after hours paradise. Don’t expect heat, seating or space. Do expect hot bratwurst, kielbasa, veggie dogs and free condiments galore. The gourmet underworld of Bellingham night life. A true golden star, centrally located on railroad with parking abundant. Low key atmosphere and delicious, fairly reasonable grub. ($ 4= hot dog, bun, onions, relish, mayo, mustard, ketchup, peppers etc. Very fond memories, post dancing downtown.

I wish I could rent out their unused portion of their store and live there, just so I could eat these hotdogs all day and get super-​duper-​ultra-​mega fat, cuz they are that good.
The only review I saw that was less than 5 stars was only because they didn’t have a vegan bun, and to you I say, kindly, go fuck yourself. I wish I could give extra stars just for not having a vegan bun.
Pick whatever hotdog you want go nuts and go Seattle style, throw a pretzel in that order, grab yourself some condiments and enjoy. Chances are you are drunk, and this is the last good decision you are going to make for the night, so strap in and prepare for that shitty hangover tomorrow.

Came here on a drunken night because there’s no better time for a hot dog. El Capitan’s has a divey, «hole in the wall» type of environment. Upon entering we were greeted with neon flashing lights and Evanescence. Strange, but humorous nonetheless! The cashier was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. I got the bacon and cheddar hot dog and it was made fresh right in front of me. I wish the cheese was melted a little more but the bacon was crispy and the dog was good quality! He offers many extra condiments free of charge, but the combinations on the menu are really good on their own too. I’m sure there will be many drunken nights to come & I will definitely stop by El Capitan’s again. Even though the Seattle dog with onions and cream cheese sounds so weird, I’m determined to try it next time because of it’s popularity!

If you can catch this place when they are open, then you are in for a treat. This place has the most gourmet hotdogs in all of Bellingham! They have a dog for everyone

This is the best place for a late night meal after hitting the bars! They always have great service and the wait time is never long once you’ve ordered. Its a must-​try if you’re out and about downtown in the late night !

They have veggie dogs, no vegan buns though.

Great for a quick bite on campus, or to satisfy your drun-​chies

* Dogs are great! He has a variety of different dogs, as well as a vegetarian option.
* In my final year in Bham, I noticed he started offering cream cheese along with his dogs as well. Finally! Yesssssssssss!
* The owner is AWESOME. My senior year, we used his business for a management class project. He was extremely helpful in answering all of our questions. And yes, we got an A: p

* He doesn’t have a full time shop… however the current model is perfect for the owner’s lifestyle.
OTHER COMMENTS:
* Located on vendors row in front of the VU during the weekdays.
* Located a few steps away from the Pita Pit in downtown Bham on those late weekend nights
FINAL THOUGHTS:
El Capitáns was one of my favorite places to go to after a night of drinking in Bham. Down here in Seattle… after a long night of partying downtown, we always get cream cheese hotdogs. El Capitáns always made me reminisce about partying in Sea town. Overall I would probably give El Capitáns a 4 out of 5… but after he made himself very available and helpful with my team’s project, I gotta give him the 5 outta 5. The dogs are great and the owner is awesome. Support this man my fellow WWU students!

El Capitans! Tasty dogs, good array of toppings, including, jalapenos and two kinds of relish! Everyone knows, you gotta have two kinds of relish. Cheap, fast, drunchie-​friendly food. The music is always loud, but not too loud, so you can have a good time in a situation that would normally just be a bunch of drunk/​altered people silently filling themselves up with delicious meats!

Other than the limited hours, this place is perfect. They take credit cards, which is great if you don’t like carrying around cash late at night downtown. Their hot dogs are all amazing and yes, you crave hot dogs when you’ve been drinking, so their location could not be any better. Love the atmosphere of this place, super friendly and there to get you what you want quickly.

It’s hard not to like the Captain. I get a hot dog here about once a week, plus he is open after the bars close downtown. Meaning when you’ve been drinking not much souinds better than an awesome hot dog. Tons and tons of choices even vegetarian. Lots of topping, basically all you can ask for out of a hot dog. He’s also the nicest guy ever, (he’ll learn your name)

Yum! Delicious Hempler’s dogs are just the thing to complete a beautiful summer day in Bellingham. El Capitán’s is friendly, fast, and super clean. The buns are soft and warm and the dogs are the perfect temperature. You are the first person to lay hands on your dog; this is the place for hot dog connoisseurs who are picky about getting untouched food! Plenty of condiments to dress your dog. This place hits the spot.

Kind of expensive for a hotdog but whatever. Taste ever better drunk at the night of a night out with your friends. Overall friend service.
