Hot Mess? Every time I see this food truck I think grilled cheese sandwich, but that isn’t even on the menu! This truck specializes in Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. Most of the menu concoctions will include onions, green bell peppers, chopped steak and cheese. Menu items are differentiated by some of the additional bits thrown in to the sandwich like mushrooms, pineapple, jalapenos, bacon and the type of cheese or bread. There are also a couple of special items on the menu like soup, sausage, and macaroni and cheese. The line can get long at lunch, so expect to wait in the cold and the rain. The truck is often parked at Kulshan Brewery, so there is a lot of outside seating where you can wait for your food and then dine if you so desire. The cook will pack your«hot mess» to go if you prefer the comfort of your heated home. They take cash and most credit cards including American Express. Most sandwiches will cost you about $ 10. You can pay a little extra to make it a combo with a drink and chips, but you must specify this upfront in order to get the discounted price. The price overall is a bit steep considering the amount of food. I enjoyed a cup of «loaded» mac & cheese(topped with bacon, mushrooms, onions, and jalapenos) for $ 6.95+tax. It was creamy, textured and flavorful. It was still warm by the time I got home to eat it, and it hit the spot.

So delicious. I find myself craving these cheesesteaks throughout the week. I am always impressed with how flavor packed they are. Definitely be prepared for a messy meal though, I always end up using extra napkins.

I hate to be the odd one out but I’m not feeling this place like the previous 5 reviews before me. I had the original cheesesteak w/provolone and it was dry and lacked flavor. Definitely not worth the $ 8.

If you need the most decadent way to enjoy your cheat day, this is it. The sandwiches at Hot Mess are joyous, messy creations. Cheeze Whiz is not something that I would ever eat, but on the Original Philly with jalepeños, this product marries well with the meat and spice. Enjoy with a local beer.

Messy greasy goodness. Had the N.W. it was awesome. Gorgonzola with bacon onions and meat. The bread would be the only thing I would upgrade.

This place is amazing. They have the best Philly cheesesteaks, and tons of «hippie» things for my wife. Also crazy good Mac and cheese… Parked in front of a brewery that allows outside food. There isn’t a better combination in Bellingham.
