Stan gives excellent haircuts. He does a stellar job every time and not only is the price reasonable Stan himself makes the experience worth while. A hot towel also comes with the cut!

I am visiting NYC for a wedding and drove over 10 miles to get a haircut and shave from Stan based on recommendations from Unilocalers. Had a great experience and walked out with one of the best haircuts and shaves I’ve ever gotten. Stan is also engaging and time flew by in conversation.

Stan took care of me on a Saturday afternoon when I really needed a haircut. Great service. He took his time to make sure my hair was the way I wanted it and the hit towel is always a great addition. Highly recommended.

Stan cut my hair. He was fast without being rushed and could hold conversation. The best cut I’ve had since living on Long Island for 8 years.

Most shops nowadays either don’t know or just don’t do the little things that make a haircut experience exceptional. Razor shave for my lines, hot towel, & friendly barber are signs of a good cut and that is what I received here.

Went here last weekend for the first time. Open on Sundays so I went around 11 o’clock am. Didn’t have to wait and Stan sat me down right away. Real nice guy. I asked for a trim up top and a high fade on the sides. He did a great job, fair prices, clean place, very courteous. Definitely going back to use this place as my regular.

My bf went there tonight for a quick haircut since he’s in the military and needs to have his hair fairly short at all times, which i hate but meh i digress. We got there and im guessing the owner cut his hair, man o man this guy was meticulious, it was really nice to see someone actually take the time to cut with such precision. We got there around 530pm and they closed at 6pm so i felt bad keeping them there for a bit but it was basically a no nonsense, no talking, just a great hair cut place and it was 13.00 which was nice. Very old school and clean.

This is my spot and will continue to be while i live in bellmore. Great cut for the price, no reason to give someone 3x the money for the same result would highly recommend.

Please note: When I showed up for a haircut in early May, 2013, I learned that Mr. Rivera retired and sold the business. The new owner, Stan, has installed new chairs. He cut my hair very well. Best wishes to the new owner! The name of the shop is now Elegant Barber Shop, same telephone, same address.

For decades, I was aware of some good barbershops in Bellmore near the train station, but I continued to patronize a skilled and agreeable barber miles away on my way home from work. He sold his shop recently, and today I luckily found myself in Bellmore again. Sam’s Barber Shop is the kind of place I will return to when I next need a hair cut. The shop is spotlessly clean, the staff friendly, but not inquisitive. The young barber today gave me the regular haircut I like. And there was none of the persistent, nosy questions I have encountered at other nearby shops. Recommended. Next time, I may wait for the owner.

The location is 210 Bedford Avenue, at the corner of Frederick Avenue, just two blocks north of the Bellmore train station. December, 2008, prices: $ 12 regular, $ 10 children and seniors. If you dislike parallel parking on Bedford Avenue, twenty yards north on the opposite side of the street is a free municipal lot with angle parking for shoppers.
