I had the grilled shrimp burrito last night. Fresh and delicious. The shrimp was tender and perfectly grilled. I like it spicy so the guy gave me some of his special stash! Super friendly service.

Steak and chicken are excellent. Very good salads. Buffalo wings are meaty and my favorite thing on the menu. Cant find wings like that in this area of long island. They dont cheap out on ingredients and I hope they never change that policy.

We had a tall order and these guys came through with no mistakes. The manager(Dean) was knowledgeable on Gluten free and Peanut free items that we could order. Our family has these allergies. Since we had a long order, Dean gave us some nachos to snack on for free while we were waiting. That is great customer service. I highly recommend this place to bring your family especially if they have food allergies and they feel like Mexican food!

Best Mexican in the area. It’s a small establishment and great for quick eats, parties and takein food. We get from here at least once a week. It’s very Fresh and better then the franchise chain store next door. Support this small business because it needs to stick around!!! My only knock is they put the sour cream in with the dishes and it melts by the time you get the food home. Put it on the side. :)

Although the food can be good, the portion sizes don’t match the price. Burritos are made smaller than thy used to be when this place first opened. Very disorganized, they need more people making the food especially on a Friday or Saturday night. register guy is way too disorganized and USESHISHANDS to put chips in bags or bowls before and after he is touching money and other things. YUCK. Hire more staff for faster service, to wait almost an hour for a to go order that we are told will be 15 – 20 mins is bad for business… especially with Moes right across the street.

I’ve been going to Texicana for several years now, so this review is based on a large sample size and not just one or two visits. Overall, it’s a great taco(and more) shop to either take out from or sit in for a casual meal. It’s definitely not a restaurant, but it does have character to make for an enjoyable sit-down experience. The food has always been fresh, composed of good ingredients, tasty, and inexpensive. Some pros and cons are below… Pros: — Inexpensive, great-tasting food! — Good, fresh ingredients and homemade food. — Wide variety of menu options from standard tacos and burritos, to soups and salads. — Delicious, homemade salsas to complement your meal that are complimentary. — Gluten free options available upon request. — Friendly staff, especially the owner, Steve. — Homemade iced tea and lemonade, Jarritos soda, and other good beverage options. Cons: — Staff is young and can be inexperienced and slow with orders at times. — Sometimes they will close shortly(10 – 15 mins) before the advertised closing time. — On very rare occasions, tacos may be scantly filled. This is rare though.

I love eating here and getting take out during the week. Some of my favorite foods, — Chicken Fajitas — Chicken spicy soup — Steak Fajitas — Cheese Quesadillas — assortment of burritos are amazing. Meats are marinated wonderfully, salsas are amazing. I always have my husband ask for extra fresh jalapeños, its never an issue. The owner really does take pride in his work and his business. Highly, highly recommend. you won’t regret it!

THISPLACEISONPOINT!!! chicken tacos is to DIE for, His(Steve) sour cream is homemade and cared for. That goes for everything this restaurant serves. Desserts ???F yea! choc pudding in homemade flaky toasted imported sugar coated, bowl! You never had anything like it, just try it. Go now! Say hi to Steve and ask him about his lime-a-lade! Not lemon, but lime, and some other funk. Love love love, I hope everyone supports this family owned spot for years!(Moes is building next door, but it’s not a comparison) Well done Steve,! your hard work shows in your food! you should be proud!

The owner, Steve, makes his food so fresh. His sour cream, is homemade. This is the best Mexican food in New York State, possibly in the entire country. His cucumber salsa, is made with fresh cucumbers from his own garden. I believe he even makes his own marshmallows from scratch for a special dessert. Definitely try this place out!!!

The short: awesome place for taking out or sitting down(super casual, order and pay at counter). I usually get hard shell chicken tacos because I love the crunch… everything is FRESH and tasty. There’s a salsa bar to spice up your chips, tacos, and burritos. Their chicken tortilla soup is really good, too. I just changed it up today and had the pulled pork sandwich with waffle fries and HADTO write this review(finally). It was a flavor explosion, just the right amount of meat so that it’s not too sloppy, and on a toasted baguette like bun. Now the details: What is everyone on here talking about when giving two star reviews of this place? I’ve been coming here for years and yes, I’ve seen them close down early unfortunately, but I stopped in last week at 9:45pm for some food and they were open. I think it depends on who is working. Regardless, I think they’re getting their act together on this so try them out again– the quality and freshness of the food is worth it. The guys behind the counter are really nice and will explain what’s in something if you’re not sure– shout out to Ryan for being the nicest! There’s always something new happening– a new salsa, a homemade smores empanada, homemade ice cream or pudding… The owner takes pride in his food and loves to talk about what’s new on deck. Check it out, it’s one of my go to places!

Went at a twenty mintues to closing time. 2 young men in there told us there we’re closed. Apparently they planned on closing as the store chairs were upside down on the tables and most of the lights were already off.

Visit Date: July 7, 2015 I have mournfully passed this place many times longing to eat here. I finally had my opportunity this week because I stayed too late at my parent’s house after work and my husband wanted to have dinner so he heated some leftovers, which left me on my own for dinner. I was driving back home and decided it was the night I’d finally try texicana. The staff was awesome! They were nice, friendly, talkative and they had such pride for this place. I had a cheese quesadilla because I wanted to have room to try the s’mores empanada. I believe the owner was talking to me when he said he uses homemade marshmallows. The cheese quesadilla was deliciously amazing. Just the right amount of cheese with homemade fresh salsa inside. They served it with sour cream so I dipped it in the sour cream and home made green salsa they had a salsa bar. The quesadilla was the perfect amount of cheese, spice and freshness. The s’mores empanada was good but not as good as I was expecting it to be but it was still good. The crust was sugary and sweet with a hint of cinnamon, the inside was a mash of chocolate and marshmallow. I ate my food so fast because it was very delicious, although I pass this place every day on my commute back and forth to work it will have to be a rare treat to eat here. I’m hoping to drag my hubby here eventually.

The food here is so fresh! I drive from Oceanside just for their empanadas, which by the way, the smores empanada is to die for. The service is also great, all employees are always friendly and they get my order out very quick, considering all of their food is basically made from scratch. would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a great to go tex-mex spot.
