My family loves the muffins here — we get a box whenever we have people over and everyone agrees they are delicious. They have no idea whatsoever about allergies, though. Nobody’s ever been able to list ingredients for me with confidence, so I only go here to buy things for people without allergies.

Anywhere that has a ‘Best Donuts in the Greater Boston Area’ sign requires a stop in my book. Stopped by for a treat this morning while visiting a friend(she insisted that these were the best donuts ever and that we just HAD to go — trust me when I say there was no argument on my end…). We tried 6 different flavors: honey glazed, sugar raised, maple chocolate, butter crunch, blueberry filled, and marshmallow. Every single one was INCREDIBLE. Personal favorite was the blueberry filled donut — it was so unique and nothing I’ve seen before. Go check this place out! Save your calories for this visit because you’ll want to try them all!

Honey dip! They were voted the best donuts in Boston, and I might agree for their Honey Dip. I stopped by around 11am on a Wednesday, and they weren’t super busy at that time so I got to order right away. It didn’t seem like they had sold out of anything, so I got to peruse the entire selection. I just decided to try their Honey Dip & Butter Crunch($ 1.25/each, ). I thought their Honey Dip was delicious, since it was soft and fluffy, and not too sweet. My coworker loved their Butter Crunch, which he thought was the best version he’s had in a while, but I didn’t think it was as fluffy as the Honey Dip. I would come back to try additional donuts(and grab another Honey Dip) if I were in the area, but wouldn’t go out of my way to stop by again. However, the woman who helped me was super nice and friendly, so 5 stars for their customer service! Parking was ok during the time I went since there were a decent amount of street parking spots nearby.

My new favorite spot to get bagels! They were amazing. My friend and I were served quickly. Only downside is that they have a $ 10 card minimum(there is an ATM nearby) and they only have plain cream cheese.

Though I haven’t been to this location I have had their doughnuts after one of my roommates brought some home for another roommate who was leaving. After trying one, these were the best donuts I’ve ever tasted. The next day there was one doughnut left from the box that was sitting around that morning — probably for one of the other roommates — but it seemed everyone left the building and I didn’t want to go stale so I ate the rest of this deliciousness.

The bread at this place is amazing! its so fresh! and if you can come in early morning the bread will be warm! that being said, we got a couple of donuts to try and sadly they were all super greasy and did not taste good at all! we ended up taking a bite out of each and throwing the rest away as we couldnt eat them with all that oil in them. Come for the bread!

Heard this place had the BEST donuts in Boston. Solid donuts(so soft). Our favorite was the honey dipped donut! Would I say that this is the best donut I’ve ever had? No, but still a very good donut if you are in the area. Ambience: Standard bakery. Smaller in scale. No tables so you have to order and go enjoy your donut in your car or on the street.

These are my favorite donuts in Boston, and I like my donuts! Better than Union Square in my opinion, although they have more standard favors. You MUST try the buttercrunch(toasted coconut), and the regular honey dipped are pretty delicious, too!

the regular glazed donut is incredible !!! The jelly one is soooo good too. The other donuts I’m not so impressed with, but everything else is great. Been coming here for years and won’t go to any commercial donut shop, yuck.

Love this place, a bit slow young high-school aged staff makes it lose a star but who am I kidding? I’ll be back, they have some of the best donuts I’ve ever had in life and the conolis are not-a-bad either. Prices are reasonable for what you get, they could take it a little easy on the sugar on some of their chocolate crusted items but it’s the U.S. so I may be barking up the wrong tree… Good work which is why people know where this little hole-in-the-wall is.

So I came to Ohlin’s because it was my boyfriend’s birthday and rather than get him a cake, I wanted to get him gourmet donuts — or at least ones that aren’t from Dunkin. He can scarf down 3 of those in a sitting so why not give him something better? Plus, he’d been asking if there were any good donut shoppes near us. Lo and behold I used handy dandy Unilocal to find Ohlin’s! The bakery is adorable. It clearly must be good because I was there early but there was a line behind me. I bought a dozen donuts for Will and I had to get 4 more because **HEADSUP** there’s a $ 10 minimum if you pay with card. The staff was really friendly and helpful; the woman who helped me let me know that the ones in the glass are not the only ones they have — check the ones stocked on the shelves behind them too! I am going to meet up with my boyfriend during my lunch break to surprise him with the donuts so a follow-up to come once he tries them out — but I have already had a honey-dipped one myself and it is AMAZEBALLS. Plus the texture of the donut itself is so perfectly light, soft, and fluffy. Definitely a must! Our next donut adventure is Linda’s also in Belmont … then we’ll determine who’s the real King/Queen of donuts!

Well, if I’m going to try Linda’s, I might as well try Ohlin’s. Just not on the same day, as I gotta maintain that girlish figure. :-P The décor inside screams old school seventies-ish bakery. The service is generally friendly and patient, as they know you’ll need some time to determine what you want. The donuts are their raison d’etre, so I went for a glazed just to start. it’s soft and sugary, just what you’d want from that type of donut. The maple has got a nice maple syrup flavor to it, though I wouldn’t have opposed having a slightly stronger maple. The next visit I had their lemon meringue, which okay, but not as favorable as the others. I just didn’t think it worked for me, as I like a more pronounced lemon/tart flavor to my lemon donut. The meringue part neutralizes that. Also, the donut looks more like a sandwich, and you can imagine filling going all of your shirt if you’re not careful.

I went on a dessert/carb spree in Belmont one day and one of my stops was this place. I came right after I tried a donut from Linda’s down the street and was impressed with the varieties of donuts and cookies I could get here as opposed to the options I had at Linda’s. We tried the blueberry old fashioned donut and the maple chocolate stripe donut and while I liked the consistency of both, I thought that the blueberry donut tasted.artificial. It did not really taste like blueberries, it tasted like sugar disguised to taste like blueberries. Still, super cheap(I’m used to Union Square donuts/Blackbird donut prices) Note that this place is strictly a bakery take-out place. I do not believe there were any tables inside, though I may recall seeing a few outside. $ 5 min for credit cards.

Their donuts are fantastic! Fresh, no strange aftertaste like at Dunks, and the service is quick and friendly. A hidden gem in Belmont!

This is a darn good donut both in the raised yeast and the old fashioned«cake» variety. Great price too, not jacked up like some«gourmet» or trendy donut spots. The bakery smells delicious however I’ve only been able to slowly work my way through their doe but selection and fritters. Everything is superb. Muffins etc will make the list eventually. They have everything including real bread(I think, I usually have donut vision when i go in). FYI bring cash, they have a ten dollar minimum on card payments. Or nvm if both your waistline and wallet can afford it, I personally think it’s worth it.

Went to Ohlin’s for the first time yesterday. Nice little place in a nice little town. Ordered a half dozen glazed and sugar raised. I’m a nut about sugar raised. These were incredibly light with good sugar coating. Perfect. The glazed were very good but not as good comparatively as the sugar raised

Ohlin’s Bakery is one of those fantastic local institutions that has been around forever because it makes an excellent product that has attracted a loyal following. I popped in here Christmas morning for a late morning snack and was pleasantly surprised to see a wide variety of baked goods and a sign in the door about them have the best donuts around. I am not big donut fan, but I figured that I had to buy one. I got a glazed donut and it was amazing. Definitely one of the best donuts I have ever eaten. I also got a half moon cookie /cake. The cake was fluffy and light as the icing was a thick layer of whipped chocolate and vanilla goodness. I also got a pack of Parker House rolls which were delicious and were well liked by my family.

As I’ve worked in bakeries myself, I know the anatomy of a donut. I’ve also learned that my go-to tends to be more on the yeasty side but I can still appreciate Ohlin’s. When I worked in Allston, Twin Donuts was my en-route breakfast, now that I work in Cambridge my route brushes up on Common Street. I was influenced by Boston A-List to try them, and I might even bump them up after sampling a few other places, even if for nothing other than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles birthday cakes. 3 well-earned stars, given that I am probably biased when it comes to most American pastry.
