I had an odd problem with one(of seven) zones of heat in my house not working properly. I had called the company that installed my heating system(gas/forced hot water) and they’d come out twice, charged me twice, and not been able to fix it. Decided to try someone else and Prendergast was the only company to respond to my Home Advisor search(I guess most companies don’t want to deal with diagnosis and would rather just service, install, or repair). Tom called me, got the details of what wasn’t working, diagnosed the issue(stuck pressure relief valve) over the phone and gave me very detailed advice on how to fix it myself. Problem solved, and for free! Can’t recommend them highly enough, and will definitely be calling them for any future work

Great service — twice. I recently bought a home with oil heat, and being my first experience with oil heat, I know nothing about maintenance or even who to call. So I did some research, called a few companies, and picked Prendergast to do a oil burner tuneup because of their reasonable price. The guy came within a week and being a techie guy I want to know how things work so I hung around with the technician and had him explain everything he was doing. He was very courteous and informative and even gave me helpful tips on keeping it running well. A month later our hot water tank sprung a leak and it had to be replaced(~15 years old). I called a number of companies for quotes and Prendergast was the only one to ask me enough questions to give me a serious quote and two options. I ended up choosing the more expensive but much more energy efficient option. Anyhow, I found out later that the state of Massachusetts has a energy efficiency rebate program that would get me $ 300 back, so I emailed the link to the company and asked for their help. In a few days, I got a letter in the mail with the rebate form all filled out, and a copy of the invoice for proof of purchase. I got my rebate back today(took the state 6 weeks to process it) and just want to share the quality of the customer care I received. Tom, the company owner, was a great help all the way and always responded to phone calls and emails within a day.

I called 5 companies to repair our furnace, and Prendergast was here within an hour. Mike and Brendan quickly diagnosed the problem, bought a part, and repaired it. They also recommended a more expensive repair but said I could delay it if I wanted to. When I mentioned smelling a little gas, they did a soap test to check for leaks. They were courteous, professional, and explained everything in detail. They charge a fixed amount depending on the repair needed(not based on time), and it was very reasonable. We just had our boiler and hotwater heater replaced by Predergast Oil. There was alot of work involved. Dealing with Tom and his entire crew, from giving us an estimate(extremely competitive) to having the work completed, was an excellent experience. We were impressed with their expertise and workmanship. They were a pleasure to have around during a very stressful time(no heat). As Tom told me, he instructs his employees to work as if someone was doing the same thing in their home. HIghly recommend this company.

Great customer service — very personable. I have been with them for 3 – 4 years now. They always show up when they say they will. They have helped me out in a pinch before. They also do good maintainable of a rather old boiler.
