Came for team lunch and we had reservation. Seated with no issues. Tea salad is a must try. Mango salad was so-so, not as recommended by waitress. Garlic Egg plant and yellow tofu curry were quite tasty as well. Dessert serving size was substantial. Enjoyable lunch overall. Will come Back again!

I had high hopes, perhaps too high because of the Burmese food experiences I’ve had to this point. Here’s the breakdown: — The Samosa soup was ok, but extremely oily for my taste. — The tea leaf salad which the waiter spoke of as some kind of spiritual experience… he kept telling us that it was the most popular salad and their house specialty… was kind of gross. Apparently we weren’t the only ones to think this as the table next to us barely touched their tea leaf salad. I guess they were smarter than us because we tried to eat it and I found myself regretting it for the rest of the night. — The pad Thai was pretty good. — We did enjoy the very cool glass chandelier in the center of the room and a good tea selection. It’s doubtful we will be back, even though I want to give them a second chance since they are in our neighborhood. Maybe we just ordered poorly. My advice the the owners… for the love of God don’t push the tea leaf salad! I don’t know the motivation, but save yourselves and your patrons while you can.

We love the Rangoon Ruby in San Carlos but this one is more conveniently located for us. Plus this one has a full bar, which the San Carlos one does not! The service here is very good. Have been here twice and both times the wait staff have been excellent and attentive. Our favorite items here are: tea leaf salad, samosas, palata, sesame chicken, Ruby shrimp(probably one of my favorites), and green beans. The chicken and shrimp biryani is also very good. They did a great job with this location in terms of ambience and décor. Having that corner with windows makes it really nice.

I love the San Carlos location but I live in Belmont, so I was thrilled when Rangoon Ruby moved in on Ralston! The food is just as good as the SC location, and they have an side-dish that I never saw on the SC called palata(some layered bread thing with sugar). It’s amazing. My favorite main dish is the mango chicken. For being new location, this places knows how to do it. Will return again and again.

We had gone to the Burlingame restaurant and found it refreshing and good. So I was excited to see a Rangoon restaurant open up in BELMONT. i placed and order through door dash. Door dash was quick and true to its philosophy. However we found the good at Rangoon BELMONT to be tasteless or bland with no seasoning. We were very disappointed and will not order from this restaurant again. We had to throw out our order.

Pricey but very good. The mango chicken was delicious, just the right proportions of chicken: mango. The coconut rice is delicious, first time I’ve seen that. However with the dishes already being pretty expensive for a Burmese place, rice really should be included. Service was unattentive, though the complimentary cucumber water was a nice touch.

I love the San Carlos location and I think the food here is equally as delicious. Usual standouts are the Tea Leaf Salad and Sesame Beef. I wish they wouldn’t make their waiters use the electronic pads for orders. Our waiter spent so long looking for the item on the pad that he missed anything else that was said and we had to repeat our order multiple times. Not a huge deal, but I feel like the tactic to go paperless could be best utilized elsewhere. The drinks from the bar were not very good. Way too sweet margarita and a watered down old fashioned. I would recommend keeping it simple, which is a bummer because the great thing about this location is the full bar. Hopefully they can work out the kinks with the bartender and make their drinks as delicious as the food.

The food was fantastic and the service was so nice. Also, if you tell them it’s your birthday, they light the place on fire!

Came here with a group and even though we made a reservation, there was plenty of seating(probably because partly they were new). I ordered the Burmese Curried Pork(Red Curry) and was surprised that I pretty much ate it all myself with half a bowl of rice. I don’t think it was the best I’ve ever had, but it was pretty good. The curry was thicker which I liked and the pork was really tender. I tried my friend’s vegetable dish as well and it was pretty good. Everything has a lot of flavor. Overall, I would come back. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but I guess that’s Burmese food for you. Service was decent.

The pumpkin chicken stew at Rangoon Ruby is just delicious! Don’t leave Belmont or San Mateo County without eating here first.

Wonderful experience: great food, excellent wine list, beautiful décor, decent service. Glad we now have a local restaurant in Belmont for date night or a nice family dinner! We ordered the lettuce wraps with chicken, tea leaf salad, and garlic noodles with roasted duck. Everything was very good! One thing to note is that the tea leaf salad has a hefty dose of caffeine due to the fermented tea leaves, so hubby and I were still wired at 1am, even tho we had an early dinner at around 6. I guess it’s like drinking a cup or two of coffee?! We asked our server and he said there is no caffeine, but I’m not buying it. So just beware if you’re sensitive to caffeine. All in all it was a great experience and even our 1-yr old thoroughly enjoyed it, so we’ll definitely be back!

The service was painfully slow and the entrees were served cold, but the reason we left early was the noise; it was uncomfortably loud in this restaurant. We couldn’t pin down the reason — perhaps the rowdy bar patrons, tables crammed too close together or a lack of soft surfaces to absorb some of the hum. But it was so loud at 7:30 pm on a Friday that my husband and I couldn’t hear each other across a tiny table. I would only eat here again if we sat outside or came during an off time. We’ve eaten at the San Carlos location and only remember pleasant dining experiences.

Had the Calamari to start. Tasty! Had the Lamb Curry and it was so greasy I sent it back. It was a very slow night only 5 tables in the restaurant. Service was good. Waiter took the entrée off my bill with a happy attitude. My friend had 2 Mohitos(excellent) and the Lemon Grass Chicken with Coconut Rice. Chicken was tough. Too much oil on that dish too. I will give them another try after they have been open a bit longer.

I’ve had Burmese food at Burma superstar in the city and Mingalaba in Burlingame. The food at Rangoon Ruby didn’t match the robust favors one typically finds in Burmese cuisine. A big disappointment for overpriced food. Always be suspicious of menu items on their site without prices. Wish I could turn back time and tried something else.

I ordered Shrimp Curry and Vegetable Curry for my husband, he said they were very good. My only complaint is that the portions were very small for what they are charging. I was shocked when I got home and looked at them. I have gotten take out from their San Carlos location and they were more generous with the portions.

Beautiful setting and great decoration. Convenient location with plentiful parking nearby. The food is well executed although I didn’t find it quite to the same level as what I’ve experienced at their San Carlos restaurant. Perhaps I’ll attribute it to the opening day growing pains. I’ll definitely be back since I love their menu

I think it’s safe to proclaim that Rangoon Ruby is the best restaurant in Belmont now. Eating dinner on the opening weekend of this Burmese gem was a real treat. The décor is bright, modern, mostly white interior with colorful art work and a beautiful white hand-blown glass chandelier with green accent mounted on the ceiling. The cocktails are unique yet island influenced. The tea leaf salad is distinct and a must have. The appetizers and entrées all pack a punch of southeast Asian flavor with a range of spicy hot levels that you can request at the time of order. This place rocks! Unlike some of the others, the Belmont Rangoon Ruby has a full bar and a large flat screen TV. Nice touch when you need to catch the 49ers, Giants, Warriors, etc during a meal.
