After checking out nearby Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens I decided to check out this trail. This is a nicely kept nature trail that for runners, bikers and hikers. It is not too strenuous so someone with bad knees like myself can walk it pretty well. The trail runs along a branch of Lake Wylie and connects with trails to Daniel Stowe Gardens. There are a few bridges so you can cross over higher terrain or marshy areas and not interfere with nature. And there are a few benches to catch your breath or just enjoy the scenery. Nice place. You may even run into some friendly folk who will be happy to converse with you. It will be great when this stretch connects with more of the Carolina Thread System.

If you want a nice trail, try out the seven Oaks Preserve Trail. It’s approximately 2.8 miles one-way. It can be extended if you take the side trail that connects to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. This is for bikers and walkers alike. There is a small parking lot off of New Hope Road, maybe room for 8 cars. No bathroom so make sure you go before you arrive. Also, for you dog walkers, have them on a leash and pick up after your pooch and take the doggie bag with you since there are no garbage cans either. It’s a dirt path and gets pretty muddy after a rainstorm. At the very end of the hike there are a couple benches to look over the lake. You’ll know you are at the end because there is a sign that says, «End of trail.»
