I have been here a couple of times. It can be a little intimidating since I rarely recognize any of the brands that they carry, but my questions are answered, and I typically walk out of there with at least one bottle of wine that I enjoy. That being said, I went there today, a Monday, at 5:45, a time that the store should be open. In fact, Unilocal is currently telling me the store is open. However, it was closed. Today isn’t a holiday, weekend, or any special day, but the store was closed quite early. I was a little peeved by this. No sign, no explanation, nothing. Just a dark store. Odd, wouldn’t you say? I don’t go here very frequently, and I’m sure I’ll go again some day; but, maybe next time I will call first to verify that they will actually be open when they advertise that they are.

This is simply the best wine shop in the Boston area, along with the original store in West Concord. The owners offer something at every price point and everything in the store is there because they think it is a good wine that they enjoy drinking. They have relationships with many of the wine makers, so you’re getting a product with a personal connection, made by people who love their craft. You won’t find the latest marketing sensation here, or anything made in a factory. But you won’t be paying extra, either, its not that kind of place. Vintages holds frequent in-store tastings on Fridays and Saturdays, and they have an email newsletter to help stay up to date with their offerings. They constantly change their stock, so to be a regular customer really is to go on a continuing adventure — a never ending tour of the world’s most wonderful wines.

Stopped in there today to pick up a bottle of wine, and asked if they sold a particular brand. Apparently this brand was offensive, as the woman working there laughed at me, said no, and proceeded to make me feel like a complete moron for asking. While this may be an «upscale» wine shop, I would have preferred to learn from the knowledgeable staff, rather than be scoffed at with a pretentious, snobby attitude. I will NOT be going back.

I LOVE this little wine shop. They totally know their stuff and have a great range of wines for a small shop. It’s so much better than going to some soul-less place where the staff hasn’t even tried the wines. If you are looking for something that’s not your run of the mill bottle that can be found at any Costco, this is the place. If you need a wine for a meal, tell them what you are eating and your price range and they will pick you something that is perfect. This place makes me happy.

Goddammit! I wanted to open the first wine boutique in Belmont Center! AND Vintages has cheese too?! Somebody kill me for being such a goddamn procrastinator. And I’m pregnant too, so basically, this awesome shop has stuck a burning hot fork in my(completely sober) liver and twisted, and twisted, AND twisted… I’m hooked. In less than 2 months, I will live here and hope the owner adopts me.

We have a nice wine shop in Belmont Center. Finally. Why did this take so long? Why is our town center sooooo vanilla? I feel so deprived sometimes. Is Dante opening his restaurant soon? Honestly, any store that opens in Belmont Center that is NOT a bank is okay by me. Could anything be more boring than a bank? Could anything be more happy than a wine and cheese shop? Correction, a boutique wine and cheese shop — ie, these bottles are carefully selected, and any bottle you pick is probably going to rock. Did I mention the interior is beautiful? Slate, wood, chalkboard wall at the entryway. The web site is pretty cute too — «Rich, verbena scented chardonnay with silky texture, mineral notes» — I mean, that could actually make me try(bleck) …Chardonnay. One suggestion(hopefully it’s allowed by the crazies«running» the town) — use some special signage when events /tastings are happening. I don’t want to miss out again.
