The Forge

When the locals hang out there you know it’s good! We eat there at least once a week. Great food, friendly service, live entertainment, Austin vibe atmosphere makes it a cool place to hang out. Come join us!

The food is good but slightly overpriced. The resaurant has an arty hill country vibe to it and the bar is decked out with tree branches and oil paintings. Its THE place to go in Ben Wheeler. There is a back area that looks like a greenbelt and a covered outdoor venue behind a creek. I always walk around and explore the property after eating. Try their Moscow Mule at the bar. The beer selection is ok but they need more local beers and IPAs.

Sunday Lunch — — Great patio area. Friendly and quick service. Portions are large. Food did not disappoint: table had the Spinach Artichoke pizza, The Mayor pizza and Beef Fajitas. Good choice for a family friendly lunch or adults out to relax. Would definitely return.

Appetizers are good, servers are hit and miss. Sometimes a pronounced Deliverance vibe. Live music is also very hit and miss, sometimes good, sometimes crappy covers of mediocre songs. Incredibly cool wood bar and cool pictures on the walls, best part of the place.

Good food Great music with no cover charge inside the restaurant. I especially like their salads, homemade chips and Razorbacks. Great place to hang out for a couple of drinks after a long day

Very small and expensive. Waitresses are there to look angry, not work. If you’re a small group looking for $ 10 burgers that take an hour, this is your place. They have local bands daily if you want to feel like you’re in a jam session in a garage, you certainly will. Order multiple beers at a time or you will be playing the «where’s my angry waitress» game. The nice thing is they will over serve anyone so if you want to see someone stumble to their car and drive, you will not be disappointed.

Fun, local place. Went on a wed. Night-​open mic night and the music was good. The waitress was very friendly. I had a margarita which was just ok. For $ 7.00 I’ll try something else next time– mostly sweet and sour. Tried a small pizza with 3 toppings. I only saw 2 and it was dry. Ordered chips and salsa and they were out of salsa. They did make some and it came at the end of the meal. It was very hot inside and flies everywhere. I know that’s hard to control because it’s really an inside-​outside joint. The music and friendly servers helped it reach 3 stars.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service. You will want to stay and enjoy the local, live music… very relaxing, great place to just chill.

Great atmosphere. Great live band out waiter outstanding. The appetizer came out with dinner. About 45 minutes after we ordered. Appetizers were dried out and cold. The food was burned. Bartender rude.

Unbelievable food and service! Try any pizza they are great! We also had the razorback jalapenos! The service is impecable! We look forward to our nextvisit!

I’ve been to The Forge twice in the last six weeks. On both occasions The Forge has been host to special events (June Bug Music Festival and Fire Department Benefit). The food has been good, but not great, and the service is a little spotty. Here’s what you need to know. Slow down. Order a beer. Watch the band. You’re food will eventually arrive.
The shrimp tacos, bleu cheeseburger, and deviled eggs are very good. There’s a nice selection of pizza, which looks fantastic. If the Fire Department is frying catfish… it makes for a great $ 5 appetizer.
We will be back!

Great blue cheese burger, excellent chicken nachos and brisket quesadilla. Bartender makes a perfect, not too sweet margarita.

The burgers were fantastic!
There were 11 of us that rode over from Allen to see what the place is all about. The small dining room was about half full so we had to wait for a few minutes for a table to clear so we could all be seated together. The only waitress/​bartender handled the entire restaurant with ease (looked so, but I’m sure it is with great talent and practice that she made it look easy). A couple of folks waited longer than they expected for the food to arrive but it seemed reasonable to me considering we are a group of 11.
Most of us ordered the burgers which were on special for the day and mine was perfectly medium, as ordered. A couple of others came out a little more done that they had asked for. The meat was tasty and delicious, as if they ground it in the back just as we ordered it. Everyone enjoyed the food and other than the two burgers too done for taste, we were all pleased with the quality, taste and presentation.
Because we waited a while, the bartender brought out some baskets of their blue chips and salsa, which were also good, and really the hit the spot since we were all hungry.
The beers were cold, the iced tea was good and not watered down and the prices were in line with the quality of food we ordered. Might be considered overpriced for a small town venue, but the food in no way is typical «small town fare».
We had a great ride out and a great ride home and I would recommend this place to anyone heading that way. I will definitely be back!
