Paella was perfectly seasoned and tasted amazing. I’ll be back for dinner so I can try some cocktails.

I had dinner with a friend at Barrio this week. Three of the tapas plates were absolutely scrumptious, but the duck on the duck rillettes salad was way too salty. The homemade cocktails at Barrio are delicious. I would give the restaurant a much higher rating, because I think Barrio offers some of the best food in Bend. But:(1) The service was not good. It was difficult to get someone’s attention to answer questions, obtain a clean replacement plate for a plate on the table that was dirty, and silverware.(2) Tapas, meant to be shared, were brought without any serving utensils.(3) The noise level was so high at our table during the peak of the dinner service that our throats were sore from shouting and my ears hurt by the time we left.(4) They don’t take reservations, which is very annoying. I will definitely be back, but there is room for improvements at the new Barrio.

A friend and I had dinner at Barrio in its new location last evening. Three(potatoes; lamb; brussels sprouts) of the tapas we ordered were absolutely fantastic. Someone can really cook in this kitchen! The fourth(duck rillettes salad) included duck so salty it was almost inedible. The homemade cocktails are very good, and it was my own fault that my chipotle margarita was a bit too spicy for my taste – I should have asked before ordering. There are two reasons I am not rating it higher: 1. the service was not good, as it was hard to get anyone’s attention to order or ask about anything and also a challenge to get sufficient clean plates and silverware – plus tapas meant to be shared were repeatedly brought without any serving utensil; 2. the noise level was so high at our table during the peak of the dinner service that my throat was sore from shouting and my ears actually hurt by the time we paid and fled. I don’t know if that large side room with the high ceilings could be made quieter but unless it were made quieter I would not return to it. The small outdoor patio looked nice(and quieter) but since this restaurant does not take reservations and seems quite popular at the moment, in my view it presents too many challenges overall to having a comfortable dining out experience, so I will go elsewhere in the future, despite the creative and delicious(mostly) food.

First, the margaritas were 5 stars!!! Love fresh squeezed juice and Lunazul is one of my favorite tequilas. Perfect amount of salt on just half the glass in case you don’t like salt and served on the rocks! They were perfect! So we sat on the patio and it was lovely weather! Quiet music playing. I couldn’t hear the other tables words, just the nice quiet hum of conversation. It was very relaxing. So glad we were able to sit outside. When I walked into the restaurant it was not very busy but I could tell there was an echo. With the tall ceilings I knew it was going to get loud. The food was really good. We ordered 3 tapas. I would skip the queso fundido unless you really like bland cheese. It was edible but not flavorful at all. Next time I want chips I would order the chips and guacamole option. The calamari was beautiful and my husband said tasted good, but also a little bland. Not spicy, not greesy but fresh with mango and bacon. The star was the fried plantain sandwich with shredded pork and Avacado slices! So different and yummy that I want to go there now! Two slices of fried plantain acting as the ‘bread’ served with some great tasting carnitas pork with Avacado slices. Served with a lime to squeeze over the top. So good! Next time I would try the paella. It came to the next table and looked amazing. Other tapas that looked interesting were the green beans, cauliflower, papas and tacos. I love the tapas style of eating. But there were at least 3 regular type entrees available besides the paella that was big enough for a full meal.

Tapas. Yum! My favorite was their plantain sandwich with carnitas(you can also get them with sweet potato). The potato gnocchi, lamb croquettes and salmon tacos were also good. Tasty chips/salsa and guacamole.

I used to love barrio. The salmon taco was good. The carne asada was awful. The meat was cold and tough. I don’t like the dark red sauce that comes on all the tacos because it makes them all taste the same so I ordered without tonight, and unfortunately it didn’t help. Also 11 $ for 3 subpar tacos is pretty terrible. The tamarind whiskey sours make it almost worth it.

BYOB salad with added salmon was fantastic. Salmon was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Salad was fresh and delicious. I didn’t know how yams would taste in a salad but they added a nice taste and texture. The bleu cheese was a nice balance to the yams and roasted beets. The avocado was ripe and a generous portion. I cannot wait to eat at Barrio again.

I feel sorry posting a bad review but they have a lot of kinks to work out in their new larger location. Both our dishes we served to us cold, the server seemed annoyed when we told her. She took the plates and came back later with the SAME food! Really?! She gave me and my friend each other’s plates. My veggies were now soggy and my food was luke warm, but my plate was hot! I ate it but felt gross about it — why did I do that! Lol I recommend this place for drinks only for a while.

Where do I begin? Food was good and drinks were AWESOME… BUT, service was the WORST I have ever experience. We ordered chips and guacamole, tacos, and broccoli. The server brought us the chips and guacamole and our drinks, which were great, but when she came back to check on us we asked her about the rest of our order and she told us «it’s tapas style, so the rest of your order will come out when it’s ready», annoying, but okay, we get it. About 45 minutes later she asked us if we need another drink, and they’re good, so of course we respond yes, but also asked about the rest of our food and she responded with a puzzled face and asked us what«other food» we’re talking about… Apparently she didn’t get our order right the first time, but didn’t mention it when we previously asked about the remainder of the order earlier in the night. When we explained that we ordered the two other items, the server said«sorry about that, I can try to put a rush on it, but it’s pretty busy». REALLY??? This has been the WORST service I have ever experienced in Bend and am extremely disappointed with the servers reaction to the issue and how she failed to even try to fix her mistake. I won’t be returning.

Went for a business lunch during a hot, thunderstormy day and sat on the patio. Awesome. Ordered the House Paella. ABSOLUTELYAWESOME. Easily the best paella I have had in years… full of flavor, full of large chunks of meat. It was… well…I said it already… AWESOME. I will neither confirm nor deny that I had a Barrio Margarita and that it too was AWESOME. I’ve had their food from the truck before they opened this location. And while it was good, it wasn’t nearly as good as the piping hot food that came to my table today.

Delicious everytime! I visit Bend about once a month for work. There are two places I make on my trip… barrio and spork. Both do food really well and have a very inviting atmosphere. Since my last visit Barrio has relocated down the street. They now have a bigger space to handle their mad rush of people. It was always crowded when I went for dinner. Now that they have outdoor patio and ample indoor space it does not feel as claustrophobic even though I loved their décor. I hope they are able to recreate it at the new location and got a good TI allowance from the Landlord! Today I ordered the Veggie Paella. I had yet to try it but heard they have a wonderful one. Today is my veggie day so It worked out great. Plus I had been traveling all day and was starving. The Paella was amazing!!! It had all sorts of veggies in it like butternut squash, brussel sprouts, onions, cauliflower, spinach, peas(which i had to pick out bc I hate them) but didn’t phase me. The smokiness and garlic flavor were incredible. The dish comes with a salad and tortillas which were a nice touch. A lot of food for just one person but who doesn’t love leftovers and I suspect it will taste even better tomorrow! I have never been disappointed at Barrio so make your way over!

Love this place! I usually skip the wait for a table and sneak into the bar for some sliders. Staff is amazing, atmosphere is great, and the food is well done. Expect crowds.

My first time here at the new location. Nothing but good going on here. Sooo much more room compared to their previous location. Food is still good, I love the house paella and it pairs well with my tamarind whiskey sour. Everyone is correct though, if your looking for Mexican food this ain’t it. If your looking for Spanish tapas this is most definitely the place.

First of all, our bartender, Hannah, was amazing. She was quick, very friendly, and did not stress out about the crazy busyness. We both ordered tacos, 3 for $ 10. We were able to choose three different tacos. We had pork carnitas, carne asada, and snapper tacos. We also ordered jalapeño cilantro margaritas… DELICIOUS! We recommend Barrio very highly.

This place is great! The grilled green beans were yummy, the green chile Caesar dressing was very good(they make it from scratch, ask about it), and the seafood paella was delicious! There was a bit of a wait, but we’ve waited longer at their old location. The service at the bar was awesome. We’ll definitely be back.

If you are looking for a Mexican restaurant, I would suggest you walk right by. If you are looking for an amazing Latin restaurant with a good fusion of multiple types of food, then hurry on over to Barrio! Rainy Saturday and after hitting a few shops and talking to some shop owners, we were sent to Barrio for lunch and cocktails. We all enjoyed the margaritas and after several got down to some serious eats! Food: Everything we tried was amazing. We had daily soup special which was black bean and chicken, Winter Sally Salad, lunch special that was these amazing wings with salad and beans, chilaquiles, and the Sonoran hot dog. Bit after bit we just kept eating and enjoying. Nothing we tried was less than stellar. The kicker? Cinnamon churros with chocolate sauce. Holy Shit Show this stuff was warm and crispy and amazing. Service was great! Place was fun and had a solid vibe. Go and lose yourself for an hour or so and then hurry back to try it again!

Friendly staff, comfortable environment. First time in so we tried the tacos, first was the carnitas they had good flavor and didn’t skimp on the meat next was the grilled snapper not as much meat but still flavorful and a bit spicy. We also had the vegi seafood paella and it was very good with lots of flavors could have had more meat but nonetheless it was enjoyable.

We had so many options to choose from in Old Town and the last thing I had on my mind was Mexican. But, the crew from Old Joes gave us a few suggestions and the Barrio was one of them and it happened to be happy hour. Happy hour menu was really good. Plenty to choose from– the margaritas were $ 5 and VERY tasty, though small. Since, we are from Eugene, we asked our friendly waitress for suggestions. We ordered them all. Her fav? «DUCK& date kabob» which we reluctantly ordered. It was a perfect 10! OMG!!! We ordered Shrimp(hell yes!) and the Calamari, which had amazing flavor. The nachos looked delicious at the table next to us, but we skipped them because we love them Café 440 style in Eugene, Or– THEBOMB!!! This is over-the-border food w flair. Hard to call it Mexican. What is it? Some kind of fusion. LOL! Just go there! We crave this place… just wish it wasn’t a couple hour drive for us or we’d be regulars!

The food here as a rule is excellent, affordable, and fun. More of a latin offering with Paella, great specials, and cocktails. This is really more of a locals place but now growing up. They had just moved into a new location so things are a bit out of sorts I guess. Service was terrible and food was consistent with other space but this location has a lot to be desired as we’ve visited many restaurants there and all others have failed. The location is very, very loud and not as hip or connected with their guests as the other space but we hope it works out. The menu seemed a little limited for lunch which is fine but prices have gone up with most lunch meals around $ 10-$ 12. This has been a fun place visit since they opened in the small space on Minnesota so we’ll check back in a month or two, for sure give them a try.
