Great Northern Window and Door

In 2011 we purchased all new windows for our 1932 house in Bend. All double pane, combination of double hung & awning type, 13 in total. They looked great. The problem is they do not open & close easily & also the latch mechanism is very difficult to close. You have to hold & push up as hard as you can on the top window while trying to slam down the bottom window to get it to latch closed. It usually takes me at least 6 times slamming & pushing if I don’t have to call my husband to do it for me. They do not glide up or down easily at all. It is an exercise in aggravation every single time. Soon after ordering, I reported this to the rep & he offered no helpful suggestions. I also feel they are too cold to the touch which makes them feel drafty. The other problem is condensation. The rep said the condensation was because I have window coverings over the windows & hot air gets trapped… huh?! In my previous home, different vendor, the new windows kept a even temperature, no draft or condensation at all which is what anyone would expect when purchasing all new windows. That vendor did not install in my area at the time. We experienced forgotten appointments, forgotten orders which we had to follow up on ourselves & unreturned phone calls from our rep. The actual owner was a pleasant man who actually did the installation & seemed to take great pride in his work. He doesn’t run the day to day operations unfortunately.

Go no further for window installation. Sales reps were knowledgable about local utility credits which saved me almost $ 1000 and gave me a prompt and fair bid. I had some challenging window change outs/​modifications and the installation crew was able to problem solve instantly and complete the job quicker than expected. They were prompt hard-​working and cleanly. The installation looks flawless and their highly experienced installation leads will no doubt give you the highest quality results. I actually got 2 other bids and gnwd came in the lowest with the best quality. Highly recommended.

I highly recommend this company for window replacement. I received quotes from three different companies and Great Northern submitted the lowest bid. They arrived promptly for all appointments and did an excellent job with the installation. There was one window that had a problem with the grid pattern that was discovered as they installed it, but they reordered and replaced it quickly and without any extra charge. It was a pleasure to do business with this company.

These guys were great. The installer was right on time and left the site clean and the new windows have made a huge difference. We have noticed a reduction in heat coming through the windows. Nice job guys. Would recommend them to anyone needing new at replacement windows.

We worked with Great Northern twice. First experience was great, 2^nd not so much. Biggest issue was attention to detail. Left caulk all over everything resulting in dark brown smears around all new windows & doors the moment dust hits it. Ironically, there were also windows/​doors where they forgot to caulk. Cut corners in detail areas (IE: trim). Really nice people but detail work needs improvement.

I have used Dylan and his crew on multiple occasions and each time the service and delivered product have been great. I appreciate that these guys are very prompt reliable, and the final cost has always been in-​line with the estimate provided… No Surprises. Also Dylan has been great at making special trips to help with projects and answer questions I’ve had regarding product and installation options. I’m going to be replacing some doors soon and Great Northern will be my first option for those as well. I ‘d recommend Dylan and Great Northern to anyone!

I’ve used GNWC four times now, once for a self install and the other three they did the work, and have had great experiences every time. I shopped around, even with the local box stores, and their prices couldn’t be beat. I’m a picky person — their finish-​work was great, and so was their follow-​up.
