Best soup in Bend, reasonably priced, my favorite is the tomato

On our first night of a 4-day stay in Bend, we stumbled upon an Oktoberfest(in September) in the downtown area. While the lines were long for the traditional sausage and bratwurst fare, I wasn’t in the mood for anything that heavy. Luckily, I spied a food truck that had some healthier options. I ordered the vegan butternut squash soup which was thick and savory. It came with a generous slab of French bread to sop up every last drop. My dining partner had the chili, which was well seasoned and flavorful. The Bend Soup Company food truck was a pleasant and welcoming introduction to Oregon cuisine.

Was not looking for a food truck but wanted a 5 star lunch in Bend. Found it! We had the tomato soup, french onion soup, and a couple of sandwiches. Sat at their picnic table in the pleasant sunshine, nibbled, and talked with the food truck guy(retired business man, this is his second career). Don’t pass this by. Excellent food.

Today is the first time I’ve had the pleasure of eating this amazing soup! We ordered a bowl of the beef stew and a Yankee sandwich and it was all just amazing! The owner is super friendly and you can tell he really cares about his customers. Will definitely come back, and often!

I would highly recommend The Bend Soup Company to EVERYONE! I am what you would call a soup connoisseur and snob, and this truck just satisfies my taste buds. I’ve been here quite a few times, and have had everything from the Coconut Chicken Castaway, the Chowdah, Spicy Lentil, and even the grilled sandwiches. Definitely nice for a college student like myself who has short lunch breaks, but needs a hearty meal so I don’t die. On top of that, the staff are super nice and I always leave after having a great conversation and amazing soup!
