I had an urgent situation, where I had to have my furnace repaired. I called Cal-bay, because they had been at our house about a year earlier to clean our furnace. At the time they said that I would eventually need a new inducer motor. I called and talked to Chris at Cal-Bay and told her that I thought I needed an inducer motor. Chris went out of her way to squeeze me in the next day, because or our situation. She was so helpful and nice! Dave came to our house to service our furnace and found that we need a capacitor. He was so honest. He said that the inducer motor would probably last for a while longer and he did not recommend replacing it, the reason being that the furnace is over 12 years old. This was after, I asked him to replace the inducer motor. I will call Cal-Bay when we need a new furnace and if we need further repairs. In retrospect, I think that I may have been over charged. I found out that a capacitor cost about $ 10.00. I was charged $ 315.00 for the repair. Not sure about this, but I think I was charged to much.

I called these guys based on a flyer they mailed and what a mistake that was. They charged me $ 55 for a service and then told me I needed $ 700 in repairs. Thinking something wasn’t quite right; I call another company for a second option. They came out and fixed the problem with my heater for free and told me that the Cal-Bay estimated repairs would not have fixed my heater issue. I do not recommend this company!

These guys have saved my bacon twice now, once with a burned out heater two days before we had a house full of people over for Thanksgiving, and once when another HVAC company damaged our ducting so that our other heater could no longer be used. I will always call Cal-Bay for our HVAC needs from now on!

I called Cal Bay after our central air conditioning went out during the last heat wave. I was thrilled with their $ 55 fee to come out and diagnose our problem, as everyone else wanted between $ 75-$ 150 or were too busy to come out right away. The technician came out, and suspected the capacitator, so he plugged in a brand new one, and the A/C still didn’t work. He then immediately concluded that the compressor was broken. They said my system was not the best quality(a Goodman), and was over 10 years old. They said they could replace the compressor for $ 2,000 or replace the whole system with a like one for $ 4800 +. I made some phone calls and found out the prices quoted were average to a little high. I checked Unilocal for reviews and found a place that had many 5 star reviews. I had that technician come out and for $ 100 he actually checked EVERYTHING. And it was a simple fix. A wire had come loose that plugs into the compressor and became overheated, causing it to break/lose connection with the compressor. For approximately 1 hour of work, and a $ 25 part the other technician was able to repair my «crappy» A/C unit. If the Cal Bay tech would have shone his flashlight into the condensor unit, he would have seen that the compressor wasn’t working because one of the 3 wires that plug into it wasn’t plugged in. LAZY!!! No one wants to fix A/C units. They only want to replace them or «repair» them with repairs that are $ 1500 +. Make some calls, check reviews, get second opinions. Just don’t call Cal-Bay

Well, I would have to say that Cal-Bay is top notch in our book! We bought our first home last year and have been going through a number of home improvement projects ever since. During the course of one of these projects, our only source of heat had been damaged beyond repair leaving us with NO heat going into our 2nd winter. We contacted Cal-Bay to install a furnace in the attic, run new duct lines, install new registers, and a new thermostat. The gentlemen that showed up were on time, VERY polite, courteous, clean, and informative. We had absolutely NO problem with the quality of workmanship and being in the service buisness myself, having all of those qualites in a service company is hard to come by. I would HIGHLY recommend them for your heating and cooling project in the future!
