What a Workout! It’s nice to be back at this DoJo. Peaceful Power! That was a Blast! It seems as though you can get traditional training and leave the MCdojos behind with SKA, thanks Sensei! A great family feel here! My core feels tight,…

I began practicing Shotokan Karate at the advice of my rheumatologist for the treatment of early onset arthritis. After four months, I was no longer using pain killers. I have not returned to the rheumatologist in 2 ½ years now! I notice a decline if I miss a week. The Shotokan Karate Academy is the perfect dojo for those who wish to study a martial art without the militaristic attitudes. There is a family-atmosphere here. All of the advanced belts sincerely desire the success of lower belts. The main focus is on fitness, form, and community. Competition is not a main focus here, but is available if an individual so desires. This is a sport that anyone can get involved with, regardless of shape, age, or ability. The instructors are great at altering the lessons to the capability of the student(s). It is also a great way to get in shape while gaining a valuable skill in the process! Forget the gym and endless miles on the treadmill, have fun while exercising! For anyone curious, the dojo also offers the first lesson for free. This is a great way to check out if this is something you might want to do.

Good traditional Shotokan instruction with no pretentiousness and being the least militaristic as possible. The instructors are caring and good and dojo-cho(head instructor) teaches most of the classes.
