The Loft Wine Bar

Dining here was the best place to celebrate my anniversary. The service was great and the food was OUTSTANDING!

As I become more and more hip to the wine bar experience, I appreciate a place like The Loft very much! My date and I came here on good Unilocaly word of mouth, arriving at 6:30 on a wintery Tuesday evening. There were a few other patrons inside but I was happy to see it wasn’t wall to wall people. My dream wine bar is fun AND soothing, and The Loft completely delivered on that notion that I thought was a pipe dream!
Along with bar seating, there are large comfy couches and fun tables made from barrels lined with bar stools, so this location is super accommodating to various party sizes whether you want cozy and intimate or plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. We sat on a HUGE leather couch, nestled under artwork for sale, and I thoroughly basked in the warm welcoming environment made so cool with club style lighting, and excellent background music that didn’t inhibit conversation one bit. I warmed up with a glass of Prosecco, which was fruity, refreshing and generously poured, woohoo!
Over the course of 3 hours, I developed a major lady crush on Megan the bartender, who took incredible care of us, was happy to answer questions, share stories and make friendly small talk, and even let us personalize the 5-​wine tasting offered on their menu so that we could both focus on personal preferences (he wanted all reds, I wanted sparkling and other fun options) while she made the selections for us based on our feedback. I felt so pampered! I made my way through a white blend, a sparkling Malbec (DAMN that was tasty), a chilled sweet red that I hate that I can’t remember but it was incredible, and of course my soulmate wine Sauvignon Blanc. The experience and delightful tastes were worth far more than their $ 20 price tag.
The last little cherry on top is as you leave the bar at night, there is a light above the door that projects incredible light dots all over the sidewalk, letting the magic of the interior spill out a little bit into the regular ol’ world waiting for you outside. Talk about an instant smile, a magic wand wave over an already great experience.
I will come running back to The Loft often, and bring more people with me to join in the divine experience! Thank you to Megan for being a flawlessly gracious hostess — so many elements combined to make a fabulous night, and I’m so so happy to have The Loft on my radar. Cheers!

What a great place! Jason is always awesome and inviting! We love coming here! The Fore Pinot Noir is awesome but the cheeseburger Mac and cheese is a must!

This is the best place to hang out in Benicia. Jason is very friendly and people who comes here is very sweet. U will be here and forget about everything else

Here’s a little story about some amazing nuts! Jason the owner/​operator of the wine loft has the best tasting nuts in the bar business, he offers a variety of chocolate covered house made pecans, candy coated peanuts, and the nuts feel so good in your mouth. So tasty and satisfying! The dude seriously is thoughtful and kind he offers up free nuts all the time if you aren’t happy with the first batch in your mouth, take them out and he’ll replace them with new nuts on the house. Best nuts, candied nuts, dark chocolate nuts, some nuts smaller some much bigger but you better believe it his nuts are the most satisfying!

I can’t say enough about the loft. We are a couple that loves great wine and food and service. We also love our town Benicia. We go to the loft every couple of months and we always have a wonderful tome. Great wine food and service. Jason and his team always there to make sure our experience is the best. The knowledge and quality perfection. Tonight my goddaughter and kids drove up from LA she wanted a good glass of wine and food. She had her children with her and The Loft is kid friendly. Her son is autistic and she was worried. Well Jason made him feel so special even making him chocolate milk. It was wonderful. We already loved the loft because of the outstanding wine food and service. But this was something that can’t be measured in stars. Thank you Loft.

I’ll preface this by saying I know next to nothing about wine, besides that they are made from grapes and there are red and white varieties haha. My girlfriend and I decided to stop in last weekend while we cruising through the holiday celebration in downtown Benicia. We were going to buy a bottle of wine for the ufc fights that night and happen to come across The Loft. Why not stop in, right?
Jason was awesome! He explained and recommended wines to my girlfriend and I, and just conversed with us for a while. He has a huge passion for wine, and it shows. Real fun and down to earth kind of guy. We decided to have lunch there at his recommendation and figured why not? My girlfriend got a flat bread pizza and I have a chicken verde wrap. Both were very delicious. We will definitely be back! If you’re in the neighborhood, want some great wine, and awesome company, this is the place to go.

Love this place! The owner is extremely knowledgeable about wines and they have amazing small plates! Try the Smore dip it’s delicious!

The food is absolutely amazing, the wine selections are remarkable and well picked. Every time I go here I always feel welcomed and the staff really make «the loft» feel so comfortable and inviting as well as being pretty knowledgable in their products.
I can definitely say that everything on the food menu is remarkable, I can’t stop myself from coming here at least twice a week.
P. S. they also have wonderful beers!

The food was delicious and the wines were on point. The prices are pretty expensive, but you get what you pay for. The waitress was very sweet. Would definitely recommend.

We had a bottle of Moscato & the Bananas Foster to share. The salting was a pleasant surprise; the burnt nuts, not so much… I’ll be back to try something on the dinner menu.
As for the bells & whistles:
The lighting does terrific things for the ambiance, but terrible things to photos.
It was rather dead for a weekend night, but this allowed for Callie (sp?) to provide us with very attentive service.

The Loft has the best selection of great wines around.
The food is spectacular and now it’s family friendly.

Stopped in for a bottle of wine and some apps on our way from a vineyard tasting to our hotel. Went there because of the recommendations on Unilocal.
Got there at 5:15 and were the only ones there for over an hour. Ordered the chicken flatbread pizza and the nachos… both were good and service was fine.
The problem was that our nachos took over and hour to make it to our table… I told the waitress that we would leave in 5 minutes if we did not get our nachos, and miraculously, they showed up in 4 minutes!
Apologies were given, but I would expect some kind of discount for waiting 1:15 hr for nachos, but nothing.
Would not go back as there seemed to be a lot of other places in this quaint little downtown to spend $ 100.

My boyfriend and I have been coming to The Loft Wine Bar for almost 2 years and I suddenly, it dawned on me that I haven’t ever reviewed it so here we go! The owner, Jason, is nothing short of a wine genius with impeccable taste in matching his treasured wine finds with delicious high quality eats! I highly recommend the cheese board with salami (Best cheese board in Benicia), the new skillet nachos, and of course, his Greek rooted appetizers. If you are smart and call ahead, there is a Beef Wellington as well served with the best mashed potatoes and asparagus! Tonight, I discovered a merlot called Pride that glitters in the sunset view from the couch! Truly magical evening for two and the best place in Benicia for your refined tastes! Thank you, Jason!

My husband and I visited and did a wine tasting with a cheese plate then ordered two flutes of the bubbly we tried. That was $ 85, I think a bit over priced plus the automatic tip calculator was set to 22% and higher. Personally I thought that was a little steep.

Wonderful, downtown wine bar with small plates and more substantial food, too. Jason, the owner, has this down-​to-​earth, super warm European (Greek) vibe. When we moved to Benicia, this was the first place we visited, and we make it a point to come once a week for a date night.
The wine selection is amazing — one of the only places I’ve found a good Lambrusco at. Also try their sparkling Malbec and their many great pinots. Pair it with their hummus or tzaziki and you’re set!

We adored the Greek-​influenced menu and well-​selected wines. We will absolutely be back!

Wine, food, beer. Location, location, location. The Wine Loft provides all of the above. Comfortable setting, awesome patio (with a view of the Carquinez Strait), and the sweet and savory to appease your cravings and pallette, this place hits the spot no matter your mood. All the times I’ve been here, the owner, Jason, has personally greeted his guests and given them his sincerest recommendations. The bartendresses are sweet and equally as knowledgeable. The Housemade Hummus plate is the best I’ve had anywhere, and their Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc is one of my favorite beers at the moment. I’ve had their wine flights and enjoyed them, but while I’m admittedly not a wine conniseur, the owner does a great job of stocking wines from your lesser known wineries in the area. On a nice day, it’s tough to beat downtown Benicia, and even more so if you hang at the Loft.

The Loft Wine Bar has a very special place in my heart, my boyfriend and I discovered it while having an adventure, and I am pleased to say upon every visit I am never disappointed with the level of knowledge and expertise Jason gives us. I’m not a wine connoisseur by any means, but Jason is so incredible to allow my boyfriend and I to learn and experience wine from his palette and expectations.
Our favorite, until Jason recommends something else, is the Saddleback Zinfandel.
