I’ve eaten off of Bennington ware since I was little. My parents still have the same set, despite numerous little kid drops and probably thousands of rounds in the dishwasher. I got a ton myself for my bridal shower — and was thrilled! I absolutely love all Of their cookware. Have you ever tried cleaning a messy casserole from a Pyrex baking dish? Half of it stays behind. Not Bennington ware. After the dish has cooled, let it soak for a short bit and simply wipe it out. No scrubbing! Yes it’s expensive… It’s hand made. Check out any etsy shop. since that is all hand made, price premiums are up there as well. I ordered a baking dish and coffee mugs for my in-laws for Christmas … They prefer corelle ware(sigh) but after they stayed at my house for three weeks and saw the durability of all of my Bennington ware, they commented on it. So I ordered it for Christmas… A little late. As in a few days ago. About an hour after I made the order, I received a call about my order– a very nice guy noted I had written Merry Christmas in our note to them in the packaging. He wanted to let me know that it probably wouldn’t get to Green Bay, WI in time for Christmas. I told him I definitely wasn’t guessing it would! I just looked up the tracking. It was in Chicago last night, one day after it shipped. Expected To arrive on my inlaws doorstep by Christmas Eve. For the minimal price to FedEx ship heavy pottery, I definitely wasn’t expecting it to get there in two days! Thanks Bennington Pottery for impressing me(and my inlaws!!) all over again!!!

This is a fun home goods store in addition to a local innovative stoneware manufacturer.

Great atmosphere. Huge variety of things for sale. Plenty of items were on clearance too, which brought prices down to completely reasonable. Managed to get my hands on a Frasier Fir candle which you can normally get only at Christmas. Friendly people too.

Love this place! It is SO well curated — walking around the store is a lot of fun and there are always interesting things hiding in nooks and crannies of the beautiful space. Some things are waaaaay out of my price range, but there are still affordable items, and it’s a great place for buying presents. Also fun to check out the pottery factory space and admire the gorgeous old buildings.

I always enjoy going here. Their selection is large and have many color/size options. They have lots of color and size options but everything is always a bit too expensive for me. So I always find myself at the ‘reject’ section seeing if there’s anything special I might like to bring home from vacation. They do have a Midnight Madness sale once a year I try to get my mother to go to for me and sometimes I get lucky. They have a nice selection of aprons and dishtowels, table clothes and yes Pottery! One time I was there last year they had 2 cats in a cage condo thing.(which was sad and strange to me) But, I just told myself they were there bc the owner was working and couldn’t/didn’t want to leave them at home. They didn’t seem in distress or anything but, I did love on them for a bit before leaving. All in all a nice store and I’ve spent many of moments in there admiring the work.

One of the reviews below said it well –that the studio visit experience left them feeling«chilly.» I’m sorry I visited so that I might have kept my previous warm sentiment about Bennington stoneware the legend. The self guide tour, while I was pleased for the chance to view the workspace, was lifeless and unwelcoming. The studio staff who were present there were frowny, didn’t make eye contact, and seemed bothered. The pottery mold process was as previously described: literally cookie cutter. I left feeling as though former artists turned factory workers don’t make for good outreach. For this and the prices being charged in the shop as artisan ceramics I am sorry to say that the potters yard was a let down. If you like Bennington pottery, and know how good a welcoming studio visit can be, skip this one

The self guided tour on how they make the pottery is interesting. Everything else in the shop is like an upscale Americana free market. So if you are 65 and into that you will love it.

I am a California girl with roots in Vermont, and I have been working on my Bennington Potter’s collection for a few years now(Morning Glory Blue is my glaze of choice). I don’t get to visit Vermont often, but when I do I make sure we stop at Bennington Potters. They have a «seconds» area of the shop where things have minor mistakes and you can get a great deal. We have a butter dish that has a little«crack» in it and it’s our favorite piece! For me, it’s also fun to see everything in person when I’ve been confined to online shopping for a few years! This is a very Vermont, must-visit shop if you are in the area. Have fun!

It’s a must to visit while in Bennington. The pottery has been a viable working pottery in Vermont for a long time. I always have enjoyed their trigger mugs. A must for any serious coffee drinker. Another item we enjoy in our home is batter bowls. On our last visit we purchased some hand blown wine glasses for our home. Great place to spend an afternoon of browsing. Don’t forget to talke the factory tour, very interesting.

Bennington Potters enjoys a long-time reputation for its diversity of pottery, much of which doesn’t seem to have changed much over the decades. That’s both good and bad. The good is that you can count on finding select styles and colors here(tavern bowls, brown and blue colors). The downside is that it all seems a little stale and drab to our eyes. If you’d like a little color in your place settings, this is not the place to find it(try the folk art museums and stores around Asheville, NC). In the warren of rooms here, there are linens, napkins, aprons, bowls, platters, etc. and even some maple syrup and jams, and some furniture(which we liked more than the pottery and found rather reasonably priced). Honestly, the creative vision here seems wanting a bit, and the pottery strikes us as a product of a cookie-cutter process, sort of assembly-line, if you will. We’d prefer a greater sense of individuality, but maybe we’re wishing for what this place isn’t. So – it is what it is, and we hope you enjoy it. The setting is indeed lovely, but the overall impression of the pottery left us chilly.

Retail of the New England style pottery but there is stone ware also. A labyrinth of rooms filled with a variety of plates, bowls, platters, mugs, cups, bake ware etc! Made right here in the factory which also offers tours too. Retail section of table linens, mattes, napkins etc. as well as local Maple syrup, mixes, jams. The building & grounds are nice to meander on a crisp colorful fall day too.

My first summer job(30 years ago!) was working in the factory making the very same trigger mugs I use to this day. Brilliant design that has held its own since its inception, and I wont drink out of anything else. While I don’t always agree with some of their color combinations, the classic solid browns, blues and white are always a safe bet. Their annual sale is the best time to shop there, but its also a great go-to for beautifully handcrafted gift items year round. A must see for anyone traveling through Bennington!

I went to the Bennington Potters for the first time about 45 years ago and I still go now when I’m in town. The basic styles are timeless and the quality is as good or better than in the old days. They’ve expanded the overall inventory, so it is a great place for gift shopping. Can’t think of anyone whose morning coffee wouldn’t be improved with a BP mug including my own.

Our favorite inn keeper introduced us to Bennington Pottery. We decided to take a stop in on our way up to central VT. The shop was your typical VT artisan store. Lots of interesting kitschy handmade stuff with some cool old furniture and antiques. They had most all of their stoneware products for sale as well as factory seconds. The building is pretty interesting, but the Burlington one was better. Overall it was an interesting place. I wish we got there in time for the tour.
