Super amazing burgers, made fresh from meat they bought locally, awesome hand cut fries, best service we have had since moving to the north east this summer!

Very nice dinner, loved the specials. Quick service, and grateful for the helpful waitress who answered all of our questions. Definitely worth a return trip.

Great service clean good American food. The grilled cheese and the tomato soup were great. Think the soup and grilled cheese you grew up with then make it better. Not so different as to be gourmet or funky or spicy but realty just better. 9 tables and 5 seats at the counter. Breakfast and lunch all day. You will like this place.

Went here for breakfast twice while on vacation. The food and the service were excellent both times. Wish I could eat here every week. The menu is a little on the expensive side though.

All in all I don’t feel like our meal lived up to the hype. I had the giant chocolate chip pancake which was 9.95, granted it was large but it didn’t include any sides. For almost four dollars I could add a side of three sausage links. The pancake was a little over cooked and tough, for 9.95 it didn’t include real maple syrup which was disappointing. Sausage was good but for three sausage links almost $ 4 is crazy overpriced!!! My husband had the French toast and a side of bacon, which also ended costing $ 14. He said the French toast was okay but nothing amazing. His bacon was thin and not very crispy. We got two glasses of orange juice which tasted cheap and watered down. When our bill came it ended up being $ 37!!! Maybe our meal was just a fluke and not their usual standard of quality, a nearby table was raving about their omelettes, but for $ 37 I’m not willing to try again. Breakfast is supposed to be cheap! If I hadn’t just worked the night shift I could have cooked my own breakfast that would have probably tasted better and had been cheaper. Our waitress was very friendly which is why I’m giving this place 3 stars. After tip our total was $ 42! My husband and I couldn’t help but laugh, we almost didn’t have enough cash and never would have imagined breakfast would cost this much!!! They do not take checks or credit.

What can you say about a local joint that smokes its own salmon? YUMMY!!! Have never had a bad meal or anything served that was not as ordered and as expected but I have only been there for breakfast. And they even have a loyalty program.

Try the San Diego Benedict with smoked salmon! Amazing. Be advised though it’s CASHONLY. Their ATM currently charges $ 3.50/ withdrawal.

LUMBERJACK: 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 strips perfectly cooked bacon, hash browns, toast, 14″ pancake. $ 12.95 I don’t’ mind paying extra for real maple syrup, but it should be enough to cover that GIANT pancake. I liked the pancake better than Blue Benn’s — that is saying a lot. Great breakfast menu. Toast could be better– the bread they use… a better quality. Prices are quite reasonable — our entrée was much higher than most items on their menu. ‘Can’t wait to try the waffles. Fun and friendly place. CASHONLY.

Split alert! In Bennington this is a pretty good four stars. The pancakes really are huge! The Eggs Campbell was pretty good. The omelette was massive! You can definitely save some room in your fridge and some cash! in your wallet by splitting most menu items. On a Sunday at 11 our family of 7 had to wait a good half hour, but we weren’t in a hurry anyway.

Did the dumb thing and showed up here on a Sunday morning hungry. The wait was pretty long and service was pretty slow. Actually it was ridiculously slow even though they were busy. The lady who I think was the owner was really good at helping us pass the time which saved this review. The food was OKish for breakfast food(its really had to screw up eggs and pancakes). The local Vermont syrup was good. Next time I am in the area I probably wont come back because of the long wait and overpriced food.

We ate breakfast here on a Sunday at the cusp of leaf-peeping season. The place was cute and«diner-y», and busy but not crazy packed. Service was good, however the kitchen took forever to get food ready. The pancakes are an overpriced tourist ploy… I’ve had better out if a box… and barely any blueberries. The French toast was boring also. This place needs to keep it simple and kick their food up a notch to meet their prices.

Unilocal lead us here while on a road trip and we are not disappointed! We sat outside on the deck(which is dog friendly) to enjoy the beautiful weather. As others have mentioned, the pancakes are enormous — they’re cooked on a pizza pan and served with a pizza cutter. I ordered one cinnamon-apple one; it wasn’t particularly cinnamon-y or apple-y, nor was it very fluffy, but it was tasty and kept well.(I only ate ¼ of it and we snacked on the rest during our drive.) Husband and I both got eggs Benedict which were quite good; he subbed out the meat for mushrooms on the California one and found it delicious, while I went for a standard Florentine. The spinach on mine was chopped, not full leaf, which makes me think it may have been frozen, but the taste was still nice and the hollandaise(house-made) is fantastic. Super friendly folk, too. Worth the stop, for sure!

We stopped by this nice cozy little diner for breakfast during our road trip. We ordered the blueberry pancakes, the San Diego Benedict, and some eggs with toast and home fries. The pancakes are huge as advertised, and were served on 14 inch pizza pans. They weren’t particularly fluffy, but the blueberries inside the pancakes tasted fresh. I wouldn’t come again just for the pancakes, but they were good enough. The San Diego Benedict was very good; the hollandaise sauce was creamy, but the dish was a bit light on the lox. It seems like the giant pancakes were the talking points of the restaurant heading in but the other dishes were good too. Overall, it was a slightly above average breakfast diner.

Had breakfast and, of course, ordered the giant pancakes! The amazing thing wasn’t just that it came served on a pizza pan or that they gave you a pizza cutter to hack away at it, but how light, fluffy and tasty they were. By the way, unless you have a huge, huge appetite, there is not way you can eat more than one pancake at a sitting. The bacon was great too! Highly recommended next time you are in Benn.

Driving from Bennington to Brattleboro and needed a place for breakfast. Papa Petes parking lot was full so we knew this would be the place on a cold Sunday morning. There were three couples waiting in the crowded vestibule(if you want to call it that) as tables opened opened up the waitress would come out and ask who is next. Everything moved quickly. We ended up with seats at the counter. I enjoy sitting at the counter when you really want to see the nitty gritty of the diner. How the staff interacts with each other and the local drama. The waitresses all complimented my wife on her pregnancy it was fun to hear from the group of women their joys and horror stories. They were sure we were going to have a boy. Breakfast was super as well. I knew since we were driving I had to finish my breakfast. Coffee was solid diner coffee, it was brewed throughout the time we were dining. She got the pancakes, and I an awesome omelet with the home made hash. We enjoyed all of our food and left energized to take on the day in Brattleboro. CASHONLY! We had read the reviews previously.

We had a great time when we stopped in recently! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the home fries were perfect. We were in for breakfast, but there were many items on the lunch menu we’d like to try if we were in the area! My eggs were a little runny(why I didn’t rate higher), but it’s a good breakfast from great people!

As soon as I walked in the door I had no regrets for choosing Papa Petes. The owners go to to the market themselves to pick the veggies served, and everything is fresh. They serve pancakes the size of pizzas and giant omelets. The staff was great. You won’t regret stopping here.

We were driving through the area at lunch time and spotted Pete’s. At first we thought it was a biker hang out as several of them were parked outside but, we decided to try it anyway since we were hungry and they didn’t look that busy. Glad we did. I ordered the Ruben with fries. It was delicious. My wife got fish and chips and it was delicious. You can eat inside or outside. Be prepared to pay cash as that’s all they accept.

Papa Pete’s of Bennington VT took over the Top Notch Diner over a year ago, which is located on the east edge of Bennington close to the junction of the Bennington Bypass(VT279). They serve breakfast(all day) and lunch Thursdays-Sundays closing at 3PM, so it has been a challenge for me to stop here at the right time since I drive by here when they’re already closed. The atmosphere inside is the same as its predecessor inside has the homey diner feel with booth seating, table seating, and lunch counter seating with kitchen in the back. The menu here sounds pretty appetizing offering the typical breakfast favorites(served all day) egg dishes, omelets, pancakes, French toast, homemade hash, homemade muffins & sourdough bread, home fries, Green Mountain Coffee and more. The lunch menu offers sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, and more. They offer several posted daily specials as well as $ 5 breakfast and lunches on Fridays. The prices are fair, most items priced in the $ 5-$ 11 range. Recently, I had lunch here and was seated in a comfortable booth. I ordered an ice water and started out with a cup of hot minestrone soup($ 2.50), which was out of this world and had small penne pasta, vegetables, & kidney beans in a hearty tasting tomato broth, great on a cold day. I decided to go with the BLT($ 5.75) on toasted sourdough bread(add $ 1) served with a side(I chose mashed potatoes) and dill pickle chips. The food was up quickly. The homemade mashed potatoes were very good, which were chunky and soft and topped with homemade gravy. The BLT was very good too, which had crispy juicy bacon strips and the sourdough bread upgrade was definitely worth it! While I was eating, the owner was going around and taking pictures of customers at each table after they finished eating, to put up on their wall. I love pictures, but I was in Unilocal mode and I try to stay discreet in all my reviews. I decided to get much of my food to go, cash out, and boogie. I still had a busy afternoon including a visit to the Bennington Museum. Overall, the food was standard looking, but very good tasting which counts for a lot in my reviews. The service was efficient and I’d return again if the place is open and I’m passing through town. NOTES: Cash Only FACEBOOK:
