My boyfriend took me on a romantic weekend getaway to Bennington. After the four-hour drive, with an unexpected stop for a flat tire in NJ, we arrived close to 11pm and hungry. This Taco Bell was the only place that was still open. Why not try a Doritos Taco Loco, we thought, so we went through the drive through and placed an order. We got one of each of the Tacos Locos. Cool Ranch was the standout of the three. The grilled, stuffed something burrito was acceptable and the seven layer burrito was a winner. I recommend eating your tacos as soon as possible after they are assembled. We waited until we got to the house and they had become a little soggy. Immediate consumption is probably preferable. The seven layer burrito is the exception from that rule. Great job by the guy who seemed to be manning the drive through and kitchen solo that night. We will definitely be back(if it’s almost 11pm and we are in Bennington).

Good stuff! I know Taco Bell isn’t like, the best thing for ya, but sometimes you just have that craving for this stuff! They do a good job here — I was able to try the Doritos Taco here — it’s good. I wasn’t amazed by it but it was good. I actually really liked the Volcano taco — it has this creamy-spicy sauce on it which I thought was great. Goofy kids work here, but what do you expect? At least they’re nice.

I’ve been eating at this Taco Bell for years now and to tell you the truth, if I had been writing this review only a couple of years ago they would have gotten just one big fat star! I don’t know what they’ve done recently but it’s now a completely different restaurant than before. It used to be filthy, the employees were apathetic and incompetent, the food inconsistent, the waits eternal and the music they piped in sucked majorly. Well, the music still sucks ass(as it does in all Taco Bells across the nation) but at least the last time I visited, they had it turned off. As far as the changes in the food go, they are quite generous now and the stuff actually tastes decent. The employees are now on the ball, polite, cheery and efficient too. Also, in the event that something is less than satisfactory with your order, they’ll fix it for you tout de suite. When I was here a few visits ago, my Double Decker Taco had barely any lettuce or cheese in it. When I brought it to the counter, the fellow gladly and without question or hesitation heaped on more for me. I love the DD Taco. I’ve discovered a new trick that you might find of interest though. First, you buy a Cheesy Double Beef Burrito and a Volcano Taco. Then, you open up the burrito and spread the fillings evenly on the tortilla with your spork. After that, you place the taco in the center and envelop it with the coated burrito tortilla, DD Taco-style. You now have yourself a Super-Duper Cheesy Double Beef Double Decker Taco. Delicious! Since this place also doubles as a KFC, you can make other such creations using combos of chicken strips, burritos, nachos… you name it. I’m sure glad this place got their act together. Taco Bell is a great thing to look forward to in breaking up a long road trip and as much as I only tolerated this one for all these years, now I can proudly say that I actually like it.
