This place was really good. I had a chicken sandwich and I half expected it to be really dry but it wasn’t. It was very moist and tasty. Fries were crispy but not overdone. I only give 4 stars because I thought the prices were a bit high for the amount of food you get.

It wasn’t my most favorite burger in the world but for fast roadside food? My burger and fries were awesome. Hot, juicy, fresh fresh, assembled well(I know you know what I mean), fries fresh, tasty, hot and crisp but not too crisp. They were cut nice, not dried out skinny Minnie’s. Clean and nice fast working folks. Beats the other options on the closest 5 exits off 95

They have a big sign on the lawn boasting about being named«Best Burger Joint In North Carolina» by USA Today… USA Today was obviously drunk or on crack that day. This was my first visit to a Char-Grill which is a little local chain with other locations in the Raleigh/Durham area. This one is a fastfood burger joint setup with a drive-thru, very nice and clean building just off the interstate. I hit the drive-thru for quick lunch while traveling, I went with the Double CharBurger meal deal(regular sized) which came with a medium drink and a regular fries. The burger was a real disappointment after reading some of those stellar reviews, it was 2 tiniest, flavorless patties with no hint of any kind of seasoning or «Char» or «Grill» flavor whatsoever. If you’re gonna charge folks $ 9 dollars for a fastfood burger/fry combo, that better be a pretty super awesome burger… I was robbed no doubt… the fries were nothing special either, just regular fries like any other fastfood place. They may have some things to offer that are great, I don’t know… all I got here was a $ 9 sack full of sadness.

My wife and I are huge char grill fans and typically frequent the location on strickland near six forks! Today we were headed to Myrtle beach and needed a lunch stop — my wife wanted quick as in burgers. We decided on a national chain and then the exit sign says«Char Grill» !! Love love love the Benson store layout, no slips — no having to ask for salt, pepper, katchup etc… So my closing comment is — RENOVATE the remaining stores! Much more personal interactions ordering at counter!

Delicious traditional American fast food. The chargrill burgers were fabulous and fire grilled to order. Would stop here again for a burger fix.

Jules Winfield would say… mmmmm mmm this IS a TASTY Burger! I Loved it. The burger and cheese was fast and fresh, fries with salt and malt vinegar were the best. I couldn’t finish the sandwich so you get plenty on that bun. The counter staff was friendly and answered questions for us first timers and the entire place was clean. I don’t get this way much but next time I do I will make sure I stop in.

Hey! It’s a burger joint! And they’re flame grilled when ordered– so, fast food? No. A double Char took all of 8 minutes. Worth it. Think In-and– Out(west coast). Have a shake!

Best burger in North Carolina? I sure hope not. It’s *Completely* underwhelming. Burger King is at minimum its equal. Fries are probably the best thing they make. Their shakes are a Wendy’s Frosty in disguise. All that and not very fast fast food either. Five Guys in Ottawa CRUSHES Char-Grill.

A small 50s style burger place off the highway, exit 79. Milkshake, awesome. Burger, awesome. Fries, awesome. Price is great and the customer service was excellent. Not much more you could ask from a small town burger shop. Fast food made to order on a grill, served«fresh». Definitely worth the stop over one of the chains.

I have stopped in twice while visiting family in NC and the food is not up to par. The burger was dry and had no flavor, the fries were equally as bland. The original Hillsborough Street location in Raleigh is by far the best and this location does not even begin to compare. You need to up your game Benson…

Very tasty and the customer service was great. The décor is very old school 50’s vibe. This store was very clean and organized. Tucked away from Benson main, but worth driving over the bridge.

I have been to Char Grill Twice and I love it! I am not a burger person, but I have to say there are days where I inform my husband that I am craving a Char Grill Burger. The employees here are also great.

Great value. For what it is, it is very good. Fast food that tastes fresh. Burger was very tasty, «actually tasted like a burger!» Pulled pork sandwich was above average. Fries were very crispy, but a bit too dried out for me(B+). Décor is franchise-y feeling, but very, very clean. Staff were pleasant enough. Music was pleasant — 1950s classic vocals.

This was a nice change from the usual fast food. We stopped in for a burger and shake while also taking a bathroom break in the middle of a long drive to Virginia. The food was great except for the same old chopped iceberg lettuce served by all the other places. The Char-Grilled burgers really made a difference even though the bun and fixings were common place. The shake was great and the service was fantastic. The entire place including the restrooms were super clean.

This is a great alternative to your average burger chain restaurants. This location is SUPERCLEAN. They like to play«Happy Days» type music which I feel is a bit outdated business model. For the benefit of Unilocalers all around, I ordered: Hamburger Steak, Junior Steak, Hot Dog(Famous Red Dog), Barbeque Sandwich, fries. The junior is already huge but the Hamburger Steak sandwich has a double square patty. The junior is unique because its a different rectangular patty. The Red Dog is certainly dyed red… has a good taste but the dye is a bit disturbing for those who are more in to natural foods. The fries are the weakpoint… in a vastly competitive market, I’m not sure why they didn’t put out a stronger potato product(see Five Guys). The Benson location is a great place to come and enjoy a burger.

Char Grill is just like the great food on Hillsborough Street near NCSU except there is air conditioned seating. They have the best hamburger(my choice is the junior) in the southeast bar none. Great milk shakes and apple turnovers just like the original! Service is fantastic with a smile and greeting!
