The only bad thing about this place is it’s not closer to where I live. The people are friendly and the produce is amazing! They have turned me into a produce snob. I don’t even want to buy produce at the grocery store anymore. Their produce smells and tastes great. And it lasts quite a while. I bought some peaches and plums on Sunday while traveling back home. I have one of each left and they have not started to rot nor mold. But they won’t last much longer because I plan on eating the rest for tomorrow’s breakfast.

I stopped by here on the way back from Tennessee. I pass it constantly when I go to and from STL. As many billboards as they have up, it’s not hard to miss them. Diebold is a family owned and operated orchard located in Benton, MO. It is south of Cape Gerardeau by 15 or 20 miles. They have tons of produce. Right now they’re in peak season for peaches and sweet corn. In fact, I bought 12 ears of corn for $ 3. They certainly have a surplus of corn hence why you can buy so much for the cheap. The peaches looked ok. I didn’t end up buying any since I had gotten some when I went to the farmer’s market when I was home in TN over the weekend, but a lot of them that I saw looked like they had some rotten spots on them. I kind of wish they would have sorted through them instead of mixing the bad ones with the good ones. I did purchase some peach preserves and peach mango salsa. They have hoards of different jams, preserves, salsas, sorghum, honey, candies, breads from the bakery, and anything else you can think of that would come from a country store. All reasonably priced items for the most part. I think they overcharged on the honey. Why would you pay $ 7 for a 6 oz thing of honey? Maybe I am just stingy. They have green houses that outline the country store. I didn’t go in there or anything, but they grow different plants ranging from cilantro to sage. I like it. If you’re ever in the area it is worth taking a stop to check out.

A small farm stand selling seasonal stuff just off I-55. I’ve gotten some great peaches and apples here and the prices for flower like fall mums are really excellent.
