Every year we go to Lake Ocoee Inn and Marina with a group of friends and kids. We love it there. The cabins are clean, and have everything we need for a weekend full of activities and fun. My favorite is Cabin 15. It’s big enough for our group, and I like the fire pit and the deck. We are able to cook big meals and sit all together in the big picnic table.

A group of 12 of us stayed at Cabin #15 for one night. This was a very basic, 12-person cabin. It was worth the price we paid for it: about $ 30 per person, with a $ 200 deposit. The cabin had a small kitchen, dining room, living room and den, 1.5 baths, 4 bedrooms, and 2 lofts. The bedrooms and lofts had a mixture of twin beds and double beds. The only way to get up to the lofts was via wooden ladders. The cabin was old and creaky. In the middle of the night, it’s hard to move around the cabin without waking anyone up. The furniture was kind of old too, but it served its purpose. The beds were firm and the pillows weren’t much of pillows at all(very flat). Probably the most surprising thing about the cabin was that it had a small mounted TV hooked up to DirecTV. College football, FTW! Amenity-wise, the only thing provided were bath towels and some disposable cups at the sink. No soap or shampoo. It seemed we had enough towels, but not everyone took a shower. Kitchen-wise, the cooking utensils, plates, and silverware were not enough for 12 people, so we had to make due with what we had. Outside, we were next to the marina and lake. We had a small shore and dock all to ourselves so that was nice. We went swimming in the lake, which was pretty clean. There was also a fire pit. We went to the nearby convenience store and picked up some firewood and a fire starter kit and made smores at night. The driveway was gravel and roundabout. Overall, the cabin was clean and in adequate condition. It was bare bones, but certainly a fair value.

Unlike the other 2 reviewers, this is about their cabins, not the restaurant. First of all, they get huge points for being the only place that’ll allow us to rent a cabin for 1 night. Every other place only allowed us to rent it at minimum 2 nights. Yes, we did book it near the off season(late Sept), and they were accommodating to our needs. I liked the location. It’s conveniently located on Highway 64. It’s close to all the white water rafting companies. Heck, this place even has its own white water rafting company. It even has a restaurant, but we never tried the restaurant. We stayed at Cabin #15. It was a 12 person cabin with a small dock. If you have a big group, this is a nice Cabin to go to. It is the only cabin where you can swim in the lake. Inside, it’s a cabin. It isn’t a 5 star hotel. But I liked the rustic feeling. They even had satellite TV available. The beds looked small and clean. I didn’t have problem sleeping on the beds, but I know a few people that complained about how uncomfortable they were. Our cabin only had 1.5 bathrooms. For 12 people, its going to create some fights on who’s going to use the bathroom and for how long. I wished they had 2.5 bathrooms. Oh well. They provided clean towels for the bathrooms. But I think we needed a bit more towels, especially for the amount of people the cabin was suppose to support. I would bring extras just in case. It also has a nice, big table for meals. The kitchen has most utensils that we would need. But it was missing some forks and a lot of spoons. So if you want to visit, I would bring extra silverware just in case. They don’t have a roast pan though. So if you’re planning to roast some meats, you should bring your own. Also, bring your own Chef’s knife too if you want to do some serious cooking. Outside, there is a fire pit where you can create a campfire. And of course, there’s a dock and a lake you can swim in. Overall, it’s a nice cabin. Once again, it’s not a 5 star or even a 4 star hotel quality. You are in the mountains and it is a cabin. I did not see any bugs, bears, or other critters. The people I talked to to make the reservations seemed friendly and helpful. It’s a decent cabin, overall.

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. After a late day whitewater rafting on the Ocoee river, our group of 8 wanted to grab a quick bite and a couple beers and relax after nearly 3 hours on the river. We walked in and immediately things started badly. There was a young lady about 17 who appeared to be either passed out drunk, or having a medical issue sitting in a chair, RIGHTATTHEFRONTDOOR! She was doubled over and resting her head on her lap. We were told by whom I thought was the hostess that it would be a 10 minute wait. Well, being out in the middle of nowhere we decided to wait. The place was kind of shabby and their were pictures on the wall behind where you were supposed to sit to wait. We noticed some tables drinking beer and figured it would be fine. It was at this point the young girl up front woke up and as it turns out not only worked there but was taking cash at the register. When our table was finally ready we asked if they served alcohol and were told they did not since they were in the park but said that we could bring our own and they’d serve it for $ 5 a person! Being so late we decided to eat anyway. We went back and realized there was a party of 50 taking up nearly the entire place. The waitress took out drink orders…3 waters 3 teas and 2 cokes. Our drinks came about 10 minutes later at which point she went to take our order. Several of us, myself included asked how long the food would take due to the large party. We were assured they had eaten and it would be fine. We placed our orders and five minutes later she came back and told us it would be at least 30 minutes before our order would even be in due to the large party. Collectively as a group we decided to just leave. Told our server to cancel the order and walked out. The server came chasing us down in the parking lot and said we had to pay for our drinks. We said we certainly would not due to the service and continued walking. She went in and came right back out and said we HAD to pay for them. We went back in and asked to speak to the manager. Another young girl about 17 identified herself as manager. She explained also that we had to pay. We detailed the experience for her. While she agreed we should have been informed of the wait she stated that we still had to pay. She then said«well if you can’t afford to pay.». We politely informed her that we most certainly could afford to pay, but were refusing to do so due to the service. She then said«well leave and just don’t come back then!» She does not have to worry about that because this is a joke of a restaurant. We didn’t even get a single apology.

The Lake Ocoee Inn and Marina«Blackwells» is a very nice, clean restaurant with a beautiful waterfront view, plenty of seating, and parking for RVs and trailers. Unfortunately the praises end there. We(three of us) arrived at the end of the lunch menu and the dinner menu wasn’t offered to us. The lunch menu was short with only burgers, sandwiches, salads and appetizers offered. After we all settled on burgers, we were informed that they were«out of hamburgers,“though we couldn’t help but notice the cook sit down in the dining room with his own burger a short time after we placed our order. I settled on an item from the list of appetizers, but when it came out, I found that it was not as described in the menu and was missing some ingredients. The food I was given was stale, and the two dining with me shared a similar opinion of their own meals. Service was very friendly, but painfully slow. Ultimately, we brought our experience to the attention of the manager who explained that they had been working short staffed, though he had not left his office chair during our entire visit while he was watching television. The next time we pass through this area, we’ll wait to stop in Murphy N.C. or Cleveland TN. depending on our direction.
