Stopped in tonight to visit this beauty in the middle of nowhere! Right on the tarmac — a bit noisy watching planes land and takeoff, but it’s part of the ambiance. Not thrilled with the two drink s we ordered on the menu that advertised«moonshine», but the fried pickles, service and food were great! Somewhere between those three or four staples — chicken fried steak, burgers, salads and yes, a pretty god Ruben. Overall, pretty fun night, but probably not multiple visits per year. If you are near Benton Kansas, look this place up Unilocalers!

One of the best chicken fried steaks I have ever had! Unbelievable. The country gravy was on point too! Good thing I live so far away or I would be here all the time! Great service and love the atmosphere. Will be back.

For the tiny town of Benton, this is their«hot spot». It doesn’t disappoint. From the lively dance parties and weekend bar-type excitement to the family fun festivities, this hanger/restaurant is a happening place with great food, cold beverages and the bonus of watching small aircraft land and take off. During Benton Day celebration they even offer helicopter and rides in old bi-planes. If you’re lucky, you might spot a tri-plane rolling in while you enjoy your meal. I highly recommend a visit soon!

Atmosphere is so great!!! Love the fact that planes can fly right over you! Just a neat place! Their martinis were different, not bad just not the usual. Food was ok. I haven’t tried too much there but it seems to be standard Sysco fried pickles and their burger was good. I’m definitely a fan of the fans!!! Lol I haven’t sat at the bar or outside but will be back! Oh and there are nicely placed TVs so you can watch the games. That’s a big deal!

Took the family here for the first time about a month ago. Great food, cold beer, and a very nice(and unique) atmosphere. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed being so close to the planes that were taking off and landing. Wait staff was friendly and prompt.

This place is truly a gem in the Heartland. Lots of fun if you are an aviation fan, it draw a crowd from a wide area. Burgers and Pizza are both great, and it is a very friendly atmosphere. It can get very busy especially on the weekend, so if that is a concern go early or off-peak. They do take reservations, but only for groups of 8 or more. A great experience, try it out!

I had lunch here during the week. The service was very friendly and fast. Love the atmosphere in its unique that you can sit outside and watch planes land and take off. I ordered the Spinach walnut salad(with grilled chicken). It was delicious!

Chicken fried steak. The best Really nice seating next the taxi way and runway Food is always top rate. The last 2 trips(last 2 weeks) the service is really below what i would consider below standard

Been there a couple of times; and enjoyed it both. The bloody Marys were one of the best. The breakfast buffet was ok. It wasn’t as warm bc of the constant opening and closing the warmers. Not their fault at all. But the burgers were delish. The scenic views of small prop jets coming and going compliments the atmosphere very well.

Visiting my in laws they wanted to take us to this airfield restaurant in the plains. First thing we saw when we arrived was a plane taking off, apparently you can fly in eat and fly out. Cool restaurant with typical American food, burgers and salads and wraps and appetizers and a good beer selection. Oh and the biggest fan I have ever seen. Burger was good and the fries too. But the star is the view. This place is a winner and a must visit.

Always a blast! Great food, great sights and fun people watching! A great«go-to» location for a short motorcycle ride or a fun place to take the kiddos.

The food was good, the atmosphere was amazing. This is built into an old aircraft hanger and you get to see airplanes all meal long. It’s a unique place that affords nothing like iv’e had before. The food was really good, but everything seems to be greasy. The menu is limited, which is fine, but I feel with a menu this limited they should absolutely own everything on it. They seem to be just ever short of perfection.

What a fun place! We sat on the patio, which is inside but has very large garage doors which roll up. The patio looks out onto the runway, which is very close to the building. The architecturally appealing control tower, with its beautiful glass block treatment is right next door. The décor is fun and intriguing. I had a delicious, juicy cheeseburger, good fries, and a margarita. There’s a playground right off the patio for the kids, and a stage, which looked to be set up for live music later tonight. The staff was attentive and efficient. Looking forward to going back!

Great atmosphere, nice staff, good food! This is my 4th visit and I must say they keep getting better every visit! I heard an ownership change had happened and it seems they are making the right adjustments to make this a great destination to watch planes and enjoy good food and drinks. They also feature live music from time to time.

Come here for the unique dining experience, not the food. This restaurant is located in an aircraft hangar at the end of a tiny airport that serves small aircraft, so you get to watch planes while you dine. Half of the restaurant is inside, and the other part has large garage doors that open to the outside, so when the weather is nice it is like you are eating outside. The food was forgettable(I vaguely recall having a grilled chicken sandwich at dinner and the yucky buffet at breakfast), but the experience was cool. Airline enthusiasts would love the place because it is decorated with aircraft memorabilia and you get to see all the small planes up close. There were people of all ages there and it’s really super crowded. They have a small area for the kids with playground equipment. They have a pretty good selection of beers. Makes for an enjoyable outing.

What an amazing experience. Food is good, service is good, but what a fun place to be. Everyone in the community seems to migrate there. Everyone is friendly and I have met some great people there. One of the locals gave my two young kids(ages 6&8) their first flight in his Cessna.

A great place for aviation enthusiasts to enjoy a simple meal, just a few miles outside the Air Capital! I usually have a club sandwich or a Reuben and come on Saturday evenings. If you get there around 6, getting a table is not as much of a problem. After 7, it can be a challenge. The atmosphere is great for aviation enthusiasts, with several model airplanes hanging from the ceiling and a great view of the runway, where you can watch planes land and take off. Sometimes they fly a little low when coming in, so don’t be startled when you drive into the place.

Stearman Grill is really a great weekend evening destination. It’s a beautiful setting, and the grilled foods they specialize in add to the«best backyard cookout ever» vibe. Gotta say, though, it’s the only thing around for miles, and it can get really, really crowded on summer weekend nights. And they don’t run people off their tables, nor do they tell you while waiting that you’re still sixth in line after a 90-minute wait. So check ahead, maybe, if it’s a Saturday night and the weather’s alright, because there will be many others with the same great idea.
