We love this place! Great food, great prices, great ice cream, great antiques!

Bess was hankering for a sundae when we stopped at the CC for a late lunch. Numerous clues led us to believe that we would enjoy the grilled cheese, BLT and homemade vegetable soup. The outdoor seating next to the creek was pleasant, especially on a fall day when Ned, my boyfriend, was still sweating from football practice. We gave him a large, delicious glass of fresh ice tea and his color and temperature returned to normal.
My pulled pork sandwich was very good. The meat was tender and spiced with a North Carolina vinegar and pepper. The soft potato bun and red BBQ sauce made it soft and moist, so different from a dried out imposter from a lesser restaurant.
While Bess and Ned fought over the last chips on my plate, I explored the restroom which was clean as a councilman’s police record.
We completed our meal with apple pie baked fresh that morning. Mmmmmm, apples. This is why we love the Shenandoah valley so much. Perfect crust and filling… saving a couple of bites for Hannah Gruen. Mystery solved.
