$ 3 for a chocolate chip cookie and worth every penny! Best chocolate chip cookie I have had in my life. Chicken pot pie is great also… its super light and delicious.

The apple crumb pie. the pumpkin pie. the academia and chocolate chip Meringues – all INCREDIBLE… truly special. While I love Crixia, it didn’t thrill me naughtily; and I can easily enjoy just an «ok-to-good» baked anything, virtually anytime, bit – for the calories – not much point eating dessert that isn’t this good, now that I know this exists.

review for coconut merngue… texture of crunchy exterior, chewy center with plenty of shredded coconut. Delicious.

This is a very cute establishment. However, the first question that we all have is how are they going to stay open when they are selling mostly pie? This question is risen because the price is $ 7 for a slice of pumpkin pie with ice cream. It seems reasonable but however my slice of pie had crust that was not completely cooked all the way. I was eating and walking up University, so I didn’t have a chance to let them know when I was in there. It would’ve been perfect otherwise. The pumpkin pie filling was great and the homemade ice cream was tasty! I hope they execute their plan to stay open and make sure their crusts are evenly browned.

Homemade comfort on a plate. This is you’re place to enjoy. People complain that $ 7.00 a slice is very expensive I agree. But wait you get a scoop of vanilla or butterscotch ice cream on the side. Just be plain with simple whip cream. Hey I think that’s cool with me. The pie crust is in layers like puff pastry. Not to many places does that. The place does smell like pie. I had the pear pie with the butterscotch ice cream perfect match. The ice cream you can feel the texture of the fat cells melting in you’re mouth. There are several flavored to choose from. They even make cookies as well. You can request water to clear you’re mouth. Simple country rustic décor with warm service to delight you.

It’s bad enough to have the magnificent candy store next door, but A Dora Pie is just as alluring. Owned by the same owners, their little store front is just as attractive, yet quite minimalist. Soothing, pastel colors and some strategically placed old kitchen utensils hanging on the wall, many of which I recognize from my own mother’s and grandmother’s kitchens, a few small tables, and the cold white marble countertop where they display the freshly baked, *real* pies and the cookies the size of thick hock pucks… this is the kind of place that delights all your senses. How to choose? Key Lime Pie — perfect in every way, from the delicious lime and condensed milk filling to the buttery graham cracker crust. Not too sweet. Simply perfect. Lemon Meringue — tart and tangy. A buttery, traditional crust that was a bit more solid than I would have chosen. Not a fan of meringue, I still had to have a bite. Pecan — a solid pie… in many ways. The crust was more like a layered pastry that had taken on a glazed crunchiness, the custard dark and molasses like. The pecans were huge and generous. A good pie that will give your jaw a workout. And after you have selected your gustatory pleasure(s), let’s not forget to check out the precious, intimate rose garden out back where you can sit and nibble and go into a delicious, sugary fantasy where you imagine, maybe for just a minute or two, there are no cares in the world. How lucky are we to have all this?

A whiff of heaven as I cruised up University, and I had to return the next day to find the source. What a marvellous serendipity that a perfect little pie shop should be next door to my favorite chocolate stop. The key lime was perfect, from tart green goodness to cinnamon grahammy crust. It’s a generous slice, well worth the price. More research warranted! Next, the apple pie. Or maybe the pot pie…

Where I go when I feel like splurging/indulging in comfort dessert. Yes, it’s expensive, but the pies are made from scratch and the pie crust is flaky, light and amazing. The fruit pies are consistently awesome. Friendly service and the cookies are great too.

This was a mixed experience. I decided to splurge and treat myself to some pie. I’m one of those people who is perpetually on a diet so this was a big deal and I was super excited. I left pretty sad and disappointed. Pros: — cute store, nice baker — I asked for whipped cream and got some for no extra charge. It was amazing and creamy and basically vanilla goodness — had a piece of the chocolate meringue sample she had out. Soooo good! — decent sized portions Cons: — the chocolate silk pie was just terrible. Way too sweet, too salty, hard crust. I have never had a bite of pie and decided it was not worth eating before. I still ate some because the whipped cream helped balance the cloying sweetness of the pie and my boyfriend finished the rest. He thought it was fine. I was nauseous. — a bit expensive, but I guess it’s all made by hand with quality ingredients Tldr: if you go here, get the chocolate meringue and whipped cream, avoid the chocolate silk pie

The pies are delicious! The rhubarb was amazing and the chocolate silk was perfectly balanced. And the cookies. Oh the cookies!!! Yum! The prices are steep(which is why we gave them four instead of five stars) but the pie(and its fantastic crust) is definitely worth splurging on!

Damm $ 7 for a slice of PIE !! WTH… And yes they took my money and I took their pie. From the first bite I started to see Jesus walk through the door. OMGGGGGGGG I was in heaven, Madecasse Chocolate Pie. This pie is so rich and WONDERFUL. It is so quick and easy. It is also enjoyed quick and easy. You must try this for your next Madagascar, Chocolate Pie. It’s hard to find a great Madecasse Chocolate. 200 miles off the coast of Africa, on the island of Madecasse exists some of the world’s last genetically rare pure cocoa. Chocolate made from this heirloom cocoa is so flavorful; it’s like discovering chocolate for the very first time. If you want a piece of heaven GOEATTHISPIE. ITISWONDERFUL!

The blueberry pie tasted so fresh and chock full of blueberries and the apple pie was perfection. The waitperson was nice about giving me a sliver of chocolate silk pie to try and when my boyfriend asked for milk, she gave him two cups free of charge. I also enjoyed the pb cookie sample. Next time I’ll buy a cookie.

This was on my radar for my partner and myself. Finally I made the dive to try it out. Trying to only window shop when I was there, I gave in and bought the lemon meringue pie and the chocolate silk pie. I enjoyed both, by my partner didn’t enjoy either. He found the lemon meringue too tart and the chocolate silk pie too bitter. Out of the two I enjoyed the lemon meringue better than the chocolate to my surprise. The tartness was a mouth refresher as compared to the heaviness of the chocolate. Maybe another visit is in order, but at $ 7 a slice, it is a hefty investment of treat.

Delicious peanut butter cookies! Best I’ve ever had. They were more like peanut butter cakes that were perfectly moist and buttery… I got one warm and it was amazing with a cup of milk. Also at $ 3, a cookie from here is a great value! Slices of pie will run a little bit more expensive… around $ 7. They’ve also got a rose garden behind the shop… it’s really peaceful and is a perfect backdrop to enjoy your treat. Overall, a little pricey but the local ingredients and freshly baked goods + the friendly service and rose garden made it a great experience. Would definitely recommend for someone in the area looking for a desert :)

I adore this place. It immediately smells of fresh baked butter crust when you walk in, and thus the salivating begins. The owner/baker is super friendly, and there is a gorgeous rose garden in the back where you can simply enjoy. I love the summer-like ambiance and the pastel-green walls decorated with rolling pins and kitchen utensils, and along with nooks near the window, you feel like you’re in a rustic summer country kitchen. The pies certainly aren’t the prettiest when you look at them, but boy do they taste real good. I’ve tried the mushroom and leek pot pie, which has huge chunks of scrumptious mushrooms and carrots and a tasty sauce, with a beautiful golden, crisp, and yummy crust on top! My only wish is that there was a crust on the bottom also. It’s a small round mini-pie for $ 8. I had a piece of the chicken pot pie, and that too was good. They seem to be in short supply of that one though. As for the sweet pies, bought me a slice of rhubarb pie fresh out of the oven: so delish with a sweet and tart filling and that crisp flaky crust top and bottom. I’m usually more of a doughy crust person, but this crust was a good balance to offset the filling. $ 7 for a slice, so pretty pricy. Also the crust edges tend to be overdone and browned though. I also tried a slice of the blueberry pie, which has a divine crumb topping and a fresh and delightful blueberry filling. None of that thickened sticky preserved fillings you get at grocery stores. This is the real deal. The crust on the bottom was a bit too overdone, and the edges again too brown for my taste, but the rest of the crust is good. They have seasonal fruit pie offerings, so looking forward to trying their peach! Overall this place ain’t cheap, but I did enjoy every bite. Treat yourself!

3.5! Date of visit: 3⁄12 Thank you Nique F. for the recommendation! I loved the pie! My girlfriend JL and I kind of had a major restaurant hopping experience. I have wanted to try this place because I was majorly craving pie. Also, I had a terrible day the day before. my poor sweet dog got hit by a car & died… I miss her so much. Anyway, sorry about that. We stopped by Brazil café, then Chocolate Blue, and then finally A Dora Pie. We both got the blueberry pie. The filling and the crumble top was delicious!!! I love blueberry pies. The crust however was not my favorite. It was an off texture. Sort of like filo dough. BUT it wasn’t flaky, it was chewy and crunchy. It was chewy to the point where it was hard to bite through. You kinda had to pull with your teeth. The top of the crust was slightly burnt and ROCK hard. I did not like that. Overall though, I did like the filling and crumble top. I LOVECRUMBLE tops! If any of you have great pie places please message me! :)

I’d adore a pie, thank you! I thought that was the idea behind the name, but it’s actually named after the owners grandma, named Dora, who loved baking pies. I’m sure she’d be proud of A Dora Pie’s efforts to celebrate the pleasure of freshly baked pie. Their resident baker is a real pro, and uses only the fanciest Berkeley-eater approved ingredients: the richest dark chocolate for their Chocolate Silk Pie, Strauss organic cream and Madagascar vanilla beans for their whipped cream, and expensive butter for their crust(the kind you’ll actually eat, not eat around). We tried a slice of the formidable lemon meringue, with a 3-inch high toasted meringue layer on top. The lemon was perfectly tart and dense, like a stiff lemon curd. My favorite was the chocolate silk pie, rich as chocolate mousse and with the perfect balance of bitter dark chocolate and silky cream. Topped with fresh speckled vanilla whipped cream and paired with a pour-over coffee… it was a dreamy afternoon snack. At $ 7 per slice, or $ 35 per pie, it’s upscale for sure. But if you need to impress a hostess, or treat yourself, A Dora Pie provides a literal slice of nostalgic noms.

When I heard Slow was closing, it made my heart hurt a little bit, but reading about A Dora Pie made me feel better. With Thanksgiving rolling around, I’ve been actively on the hunt for some extra pies to supplement the dessert spread. Why not kill two birds with one stone? The space itself is minimal and cute, painted an inviting shade of minty green with simple baking accoutrement, like flour sifters and rolling pins, attached to the walls for décor. There is a fair amount of seating, a supremely clean kitchen in plain sight, and the cash register alongside an organized display of the baked goods for sale. They made a great visual first impression. Customer service was just ok. One of the two girls behind the counter was friendly and greeted me when I entered the building. However, I didn’t feel like either of them were making much of an effort to educate me about the baked goods or make a sale. 14 dollars later, I walked out of the door with two average sized slices of their pumpkin pie with two insanely small, nickel sized dollops of vanilla bean whipped cream on top. No doubt, tasty as one would expect. It’s hard to go wrong with Strauss dairy, high quality baking supplies, and organic produce. The pumpkin filling was well spiced and had a pleasant custard like consistency. However, the crust was a bit dry and harder than I hoped it would be. Not the best I’ve tasted, but definitely one of the better pumpkin pies being sold in the area. At this time, the offerings are limited to pies and cookies, plus hot and cold beverages. During my visit, they were serving a number of pies, such as lemon meringue, banana cream, apple crumble, pumpkin, and chocolate. All of which were presented beautifully. Aside from meringues, the cookies are unfussy in execution, but they are hefty in size and look as good as any you’re going to see in a major food publication. I’m eager to sample some of them, particularly the double chocolate chip and the oatmeal. I don’t really know what to make of A Dora Pie as it stands. It’s hard to make an assessment this early on, especially because I didn’t encounter any other customers. I read that they were planning on including dinner service and alcohol beverages into the mix. When those other features come into play, I’m looking forward to paying them another visit.

A Dora Pie only sells pies and gigantic cookies(3). setup is a counter with cookies and pies within and several tables for sitdown. choose sitdown since pies tend to get messy when transported. eats: slice, lemon meringue pie(7.5) –very dense crust, needed knife to cut it nothing unusual, just thick –lots of meringue, melt in ur mouth –lemon not too sweet, not too tart nice balance with both being tasted –got free glass of milk with it.(ups rating to 5 stars) –may be the best lemon meringue tasted, certainly the most pricey 4.5 stars

Went to A Dora Pie on Sat 11÷1÷14, it’s not too far from Downtown Berkeley Bart in the old SLOW spot. They have a bunch of giant cookies $ 3 ea — next time I need to try one. I saw: chocolate meringues, peanut butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies, double chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal currant cookies. Bunch of pies I saw: Apple Crumb Pie Pumpkin Hazelnut Almond Pie Lemon Meringue Pie Madagascar Chocolate Silk Pie I tried the last slice of Hazelnut Almond Pie — like pecan it was really sweet and the crust was a bit too thick and crunch for me. $ 7/slice. They plan to expand and later serve savory pies, ice cream, etc. Charge it. Daily 10am-7pm for now.
