I can’t say enough good things about these guys. Brought my 06 ninja 500 here to get the rear brake pads replaced and not only did they do that but they also adjusted my clutch and fixed an issue with a loose bolt that was rattling at roughly 4000 rpm. I was amazed at the level of service i received here and it was über affordable too. The people who work here are all awesome and did a great job. These guys rock!

I’ve been to this shop three times.
The first went smoothly and everything turned out fine.
The second time I went to get both front and rear breaks replaced as well as the forks. Took about a week and after picking it up and wanting to go for a ride (it was still early) I noticed that the chain was slipping and grinding down the teeth and my clutch wasn’t properly set. Fucking lame.
So a few months later I need some alternator and other electrical work done. Now bear in mind I have a fairly common recent model Kawasaki. They tell me that the parts are only available in Japan and it’ll be a two week wait or so. So that was bullshit, I found the piece online in ten minutes and for $ 60 cheaper than what they were charging. Anyways I bite the bullet… FIVE WEEKS LATER THEY CALL ME, bike is ready. I pick it up, ride it home, pop off my seat to look at the work and guess what… they had removed all my emergency tools and patch kit that I keep in that compartment.
Front desk people are great and friendly. But their mechanics are obviously careless and only there for the pay check. If I’d had a garage and the time I’d have just done it myself, which is what I suggest anyone who can does. Either that or go elsewhere. I take my bike across the bay now. Don’t risk your safety riding a machine that careless mechanics have touched.

Two thumbs up for pulling out a monster drill bit from my rear tire and for keeping the shop open so I could pick it up same day :-).

Took my bike here to fix a flat, was told no worries as they had 2 hours before closing. Went on to have some food to kill some time. An hour later they call me and say they can’t do it and I have to walk all the way back and ride out to Lake Merit to go to another shop, which didn’t charge me a penny to fix my flat and helped me immediately. They get the second star for at least calling another shop but yea not a fan of having 5 friends who were riding with me waste over an hour to only have to go somewhere else.

Our experience at this shop was not pleasant at all. Dropped off bike more than an hour and half before they close due to a flat tire. Was told it will be taken care of so we leave the shop waiting for their call for when we can pick up the bike before they close. More than 30 minutes after our bike was dropped off, we get a call that the shop feels like they don’t have enough time to fix the tire & that we should take it to another shop all the way across the city! We cautiously ride the bike to the other shop & the flat tire was taken care of immediately in a very short amount of time.
It was very disappointing to see how this shop turned us away in a manner that not was not professional.

I gave it five star because I had my 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 classic so I went to my friend to see if he could fix my tail light and license plate light to start working again because they went out it’s not the light bulb is the wire so going back home it went out again sawdust in the middle and the night 9 o’clock so I decide to go to berkeley Performance so they gave me a good customer service and I fix my problem so that’s why I came back that was 2013. So now I have a 2000 Yamaha v-​star 1100 classic so I bought this bike on Craigslist its not bad it rides its passé Thunderheader pipe that’s nice you seem really loud so I bring it to you again berkeley Performance so far so good taking my back soon this will be updated again.

I just called to see if they had oil for my Honda,
and the guy who answer the phone seem pretty unbelievably the opposite to good customer service. Simple questions as «do you sell motorcycle oil» seemed to annoyed him. He should be remove and replace with someone who truly loves motorcycle mechanics world…

When it comes to changing tires I want it done with the proper tools by someone who does it a lot. Even though I generally work on my own bike I don’t have those tools and every 2 years or so is not a lot. My tires were installed here today and they checked out the bike overall, gratis. They found a safety issue with the brakes and repaired that gratis, {There were no parts needed for the brakes} When I called them about installing the tires I was asked to drop off the bike in the morning and it would be ready to pick up that evening. That’s exactly what happened even with only one tech today. The best thing is that they didn’t have tires to fit my bike and suggested I purchase online so I did and the cost of installation is the same with tires you bring in. I could give them 5 stars just for this transaction but the story goes back a bit further. I was taking this bike apart the fist time to adjust the valves and came across a part I could not remove. I have the manufacturers repair manual and there was no reference on how to disconnect this part. I called to leave a message but Rick answered after hours and made a suggestion that worked. Previous to that they repaired a flat for me while I waited { I brought them the rim) They have always been professional, courteous and helpful. I trust them with my bike and highly recommend them to all of you.

Wanted to give these guys a quick thumbs up. I called ahead of time to see if one of their mechanics could check and out appraise a motorcycle I was looking at from Craigslist. The seller and I met at performance motorcycle and the mechanic their was great. He looked the bike over, gave me his impressions, and even took it for a test ride. I’m relatively new to motorcycles so it was so helpful to have an unbiased expert tell me what he thought of the potential purchase. Very helpful. Very friendly. And he did the checkup free of charge! Just great customer service. I will definitely recommend them in the future.

I found myself in Oakland next to the freeway with a flat tire on a Monday evening. I called Berkeley Performance Motorcycle, and the outgoing message had the number to call for a tow. 20 minutes later Rich was there with his great truck, he picked me up and dropped me off at my home, all within an hour after I pulled over. That is fantastic service and I really appreciate it. I’ve had my bike to the shop before for tires and service, and they do good work at reasonable rates — I’m glad shops like this exist!

I had these folks do some tire work a while back. Made an appointment, brought the bike in, it was ready when they said. Fine. No complaints.
Today the bike was a bit hard to start and once under way, it was running oddly –not revving freely, as if it just wouldn’t warm up. I had a suspicion, based on a past experience. I stopped and sure enough, my #1 plug wire was off and the plug itself had been broken off. Goddam crackheads break off plugs to use the porcelain insulator section for a pipe. #%&*!!
I was headed toward Performance so I stopped in to get a plug –it’s barely a block from the dealer but I like doing business with the smaller guys. I planned on swapping out the plug on the street but I asked if they would use their air hose to blow out the chips of broken porcelain from around the plug so they don’t fall in when I pulled the old one. Rich pulled my bike into the shop, blew it out, then pulled the old plug and popped in a new one, and I was on my way in minutes. and for just the cost of the plug!
Admittedly, it was a quick, easy fix, but I really didn’t expect him to stop what he was doing and deal with my little drama. He and the guy at the desk and the other mechanic were all very pleasant and sympathetic to my plight. I rode off in a better mood and feeling good about this shop. I’ll be back

FINALLY a smart and honest motorcycle shop in the Bay! Took my Honda Shadow (recently acquired from Craigslist… So you know what that means… Lol). They got me all set and didn’t jam on a bunch of non-​essential work. Thanks guys for being good at what you do. Don’t take your bike anywhere else. Period.

I would never trust this shop. I called the owner for 3 weeks before I got a response after dropping off my bike. I had to work and didn’t have time to go in and check on why they were being negligent and unprofessional. To top it off, the owner was belligerent and angry when I showed up and requested an estimate of parts and labor costs, and refused to a print out an itemized estimate of the repairs.
I strongly suggest taking your business somewhere else!

Do not go any where else!!!
A few nights ago my clutch cable broke and I was stuck in Downtown Oakland until the tow truck picked me up at 12 AM (I work late hours). I told the driver to drop my bike off at the parking lot next to Berkeley Performance. He told me he knew Rich, and would give him a call. Despite being almost 12:30 AM by this time, Rich swung by the shop just to open the garage so I did not have to keep my bike outside. I spoke w/​him and told him that, in addition to the clutch cable, I was due for a 17K service, and he told me he could take care of it by the end of the week.
Unfortunately, they had to order the clutch cable, so my service took an additional week. However, Rich completely made up for it when he waited until 9:30 PM for me to pick up my bike on Monday evening.
This is the best shop in the Bay area in my opinion. Not only is their customer service spectacular, but their pricing is very competitive!

I will not take my bike anywhere but BPM. Rich and Suzie are great about staying in touch with updates about work on your bike after you drop it off, and the crew of mechanics does consistently great work.
In over a dozen times I’ve had my bike into BPM, whether for routine services or to fix one or another problem that has come up (my bike has 50k miles on it now so it’s getting to that point in its life…), the only issue I had was a small piece of fairing that got cracked while they worked on the bike — which they pointed out to me when I came to pick it up, and which they fixed quickly a week later when the replacement part came in. I recommend BPM to all my biking friends.

Brought my bike in for a 20K service and rear brake fix on my Harley Davidson. They were informative, swift, and very reasonable.
My brakes acted up again a couple of months after the service, and Ian rebuilt them all pro-​bono.
I recommend these dudes to everyone who needs work done. This is the place to go.

I see the five-​star reviews, and I agree that Rich is an, honest, straightforward guy. My rating comes from own regrettable experience here. My first visit was to repair a dead cylinder, and I agreed to have them replace the rear tire as well. Price was somewhere around $ 400 for the total job. However, when I picked up the bike, the gas gauge was broken, the rear swing arm had been damaged, and the bike suddenly went from a gentle purr (it’s a ninja 250) to a throaty, load, choppy roar. They took care of the broken gas gauge on the spot, but I didn’t have time to stay for the wing arm and the increased volume.
I allowed three months to pass before bringing it back in to have those two issues addressed. Rich immediately identified the cause of the volume increase (some air intake thing), but told me that its breaking while in their shop was only coincidence, so he wouldn’t fix it for free. He did fix the swing arm, which he acknowledged was damaged by the shop. Lastly, when I came to pick up from that $ 110 job, having learned from the previous experience, I closely inspected the bike before riding away. The noise and the swing arm were fixed, but one of the panels hadn’t been properly set, so I had to wait for them to fix that.
Conclusion: Fair shop, but in my two experiences, they did sloppy work that ultimately cost me two extra trips and $ 110.

Wonderful, wonderful shop.
Repaired some relatively minor issues on my (first) bike for a very fair price, and gave me some amazing advice. Rich even took the time to show me a few things I should know, like how to check my tires. It’s hard to find good folks like this, they have my admiration.
I wish them the very best!

Straight forward on point place of business, treated my bf and his bikes like royalty… Long story short come here to truly be taken care of no BS included, even helped sell one of my Bf’s bikes, yayy more bag and shoe $$$ for me.
