Body Time

Body time offers a great selection of essential oil based perfumes and other natural products. I decided to make my own perfume and the sales girl, forgot her name :(, was of great help. I described scent i’m most comfortable with and she quickly directed me to oils that would match that profile. I now have a signature scent I can call all mine. Super plus, when you check in they give you a free glycerin bar. The only reason its a 4 star is because the oil at first irritated my skin. Overall the products and options are vast and the price more than reasonable.

the temporary hiatus to the arizona desert is over, and i’m home again… hence, my joyous return to the old Unilocal i know and love.
so, about body time. ah, yes. welcome to elmwood. my new, quaint, tree-​lined, sleepy little berkeley ‘hood. i now live 2 blocks away, so naturally i’ve walked by body time a few times. i desperately tried to avert my eyes knowing i would love this place.
then one day, as i strolled lazily down college avenue, i allowed myself to peek inside. i kept one foot outside, like it was going to stop me somehow. as soon as the smiling girl behind the counter beckoned me inside, i was a goner. two kindred spirits reconnecting like old friends, we excitedly compared different oils and combinations. she kept saying, «try this one! ooh, and you gotta try this one!»
they have a generous selection of oils and the enthusiastic shop girl helped me try out several different ones. i ended up choosing one with coconut and bembu for my body lotion and then a spray that had sweeter scent (can’t recall the names of the oils). you can have your oils added to any number of beauty products and it’s fairly inexpensive. she’ll even write down the combination you chose right on the bottle so you can recreate it next time. love the products on, the lotion makes my skin feel wonderfully soft and the experience itself is fun.
so indulge, go buy a little customized treat for the body… and smell like you just stepped off the beach. sigh. if only.

Great place to get a gift. I was in here and was able to buy a birthday gift for 20 dollars. It was great as I could customize the scent of the lotions and I got a really nice set of soap, body lotion and body wash. They also offer a 15% discount when you buy 3 or more products, which helped me save me even more money. I will probably visit more often and get gifts for friends.

This is for the mail order service. I’ve been a Body Time customer since 1975. I bought some face powder which caused an allergic reaction. I’ve requested instructions on how to return it to Body Time, with no answer. Customer service has disappeared since Body Time was bought by the De Almeida family.

Fun little perfume store in Berkley. We wandered in and stayed to shop. Great array of essential oils, and they will custom blend fragrances for you. Nice!

I’ve been on a natural beauty products kick, so came in to get some jojoba oil. I found the woman who helped me to be extremely kind and most important, helpful! I told her why I was buying the jojoba oil (to cleanse my skin), and she shared with me that she also oil cleanses, and uses some tea tree oil because she’s acne prone (I am as well). I bought the tea tree oil as well, and have been using that combination ever since and my skin feels great. Also, I wanted to buy the Gardenia scented oil, but she suggested i put it on my skin and wait an hour or so to see how the scent reacted with my body chemistry — i appreciated that she wasn’t trying to sell me a product right away, but rather wanted to make sure i liked it first. I live really close to the Body Time on Shattuck, so might end up going there more just out of convenience, but I was really pleased with the experience I had at this location, and it definitely made me a fan of their stores and products!

Wonderful products, honest and helpful staff. Check this place out, the store is so lovely and really make you think about the importance of what you put onto your skin!

Body Time has some magical products. I love them for the lotion; scented or not, the lotion will sooth and keep your skin moisturized for hours. I have dry skin to start, plus I wash my hands a lot throughout the day, and when it’s cold outside… ay. Body Time’s lotion does the trick!
On this visit, I decided to purchase some body/​room spray. Their spring scents are in (for a limited time!) so I thought I’d give it a whirl. The dahlia scent is soft and relaxing. I like to put it on after a bath, and then it makes my sheets smell good, too.
In general, the scents (they have tons you can choose from to customize your body products) do not overpower the store — a big plus! Instead, the store smells clean and relaxing.

I needed to buy a dozen of lotion of $ 25 plus tax that I wanted to take with me to the abroad. I wondered if I could get some discount. I emailed them but got no reply. I went to the store and talked to the lady. I left a message and my # to the manager, but still no reply.
I understand if they do not offer any discount for bulk purchase but I think they should have given some response at least. It is just about courtesy. It is sad since I had been using their products since 1998. I won‘t go back to the business that cannot perform normal sense of human interaction. I will switch to Weleda via Amazon instead. Cost much less than Body Time.
