Amazing coffee and breakfast burritos! I found this place on Unilocal and there’s such a good variety of things to choose from. We got some burritos and coffee, and clumsy me spilt my coffee immediately in my car after buying it. I walked back in and told the guy who worked there he immediately gave me a fresh coffee and offered me towels to help clean my mess. My new fav morning spot! I recommend the pesto burrito!

FIVEDOLLARS for their«famous» iced Mexi-Mocha that was simply chocolate syrup, 9⁄10 milk, ice, and maybe half a shot of espresso or something that didn’t even work because I ended up almost wanting to pass out anyways. Seriously?!? This isn’t the FiDi.

A cute little coffeeshop I discovered accidentally, and I’m so glad I did! I was very impressed by their drip coffee, delicious pastries and breakfast burritos. On top of that, they always welcome you with a smile and a friendly attitude. I wish they would stay open later though.

A Catahoula is a breed of dog, not quite a hound but more of a cur. Regardless, these guys are beauties. I was kinda confused with the coffee shop name thinking it was some random word from another language but hey I’ve saved you the trouble of questioning the name yourselves. Located directly across from the Torpedo room, Catahoula Coffee Company is the corner suite of a small shopping strip. There are street meter parking all around but a block away is free street parking, you may want to be careful when parking in the grocery outlet since the city is able to give you parking tickets there(it’s happened to me once). The inside is small, clean, and well kept. The walls are decorated with local art that you can buy, but they also have an array of coffee items that they have for sale. From their logo shirts, hats, to their coffee containers, mugs, to their French press. If you’re kinda sorta hungry, they do have breakfast burrito’s and pastries. What you’ve gotta try is their Hawaiian Mochi. Don’t let the looks of it pass you up, it’s delicious and the texture is memorizing! I’ll probably find myself buying that along with my coffee. But, the coffee itself is great. I’ve had the Mexi-Mocha which I found pleasant. It wasn’t too sweet or overbearing but I could taste the quality of bean in the background. Overall, I was satisfied. Their service was wonderful. From the designs in my coffee to their pleasant conversations, I have to admit I’ve grown found of this place.

Running with my holiday season morning coffee spree, I finally had the chance to properly check out this spot.(I had waited so long putting off visiting Sketch, the ice cream parlor that was the previous tenant, that I never actually got to try it out :/…wasn’t gonna let that happen with this one!!) Catahoula has a least one other branch up in Richmond, but the feel is still very small café-esqe with great customer service. I think it’s pretty cool that they try to support local artists here by showcasing various paintings and prints for sale. The Mexican mocha I got was pretty good with an amazingly thick layer of delicious foam, though not as spiced as I might have expected. Good amount of seating(indoor and out) and what they might lack for in pastries, they make up for with lunchy sandwiches/wraps.

Service was a little slow but the coffee was pretty good. These guys know what they are doing when it comes to coffee. We need to talk about that logo though. Papyrus font? Ehhh. Only slightly better than Comic Sans.

Amazing pastries, try the Hawaiian Mochi muffin. Festive staff(see photo) and spot on expresso drinks. Perfect before or after an Amtrak ride!

As good as it gets! I usually only give 5 star or 1 star reviews anyway :) but this is a real gem. Small and usually fairly quiet — outlets and pretty decent wifi speed(I’ve been here at least a dozen times too…) The customer service is usually great — at worst it is good. That’s a huge one for me. Coffee is almost always good too, like really good. But honestly I’ve come to expect good coffee as a starting point, at least in the Bay area. Pastries etc are REALLY good — especially the ones that are made on-site. REALLYGOOD!!! There are breakfast wraps and things like that also but not a huge selection. On the plus side they are always fresh — especially the savory pastries made on-site — the come out throughout the day and if you grab one hot out of the oven — WOW! I’d bike here because 4th street is getting trendy and busy, especially around the holidays. Hey! Another big plus — DOGFRIENDLY! At least if your dog is friendly anyway ha!

I love the coffee — almost every roast is just spot on. The nitro iced coffee is divine. The staff are a daily delight — and Steven is often the reason I come in for a cup(& a milkbone, my dog is a fan too). But I’m really disappointed in the food options. I’d love to have something to eat with my coffee in the mornings but am so sick of the same meager options. And on Sunday those slim options disappear! For us regulars in the morning the sparsity of the fare has been a topic of conversation for a while. Could we please get a muffin? A different Danish? Some variety & a change from the same four options that have existed 6 days a week since the place opened would be really really nice.

A nice little coffee shop just a minute from the train station. Really friendly barista and nice local artwork décor. Didn’t try the baked goods but had a tasty mexican mocha. Definitely stop by if you’re waiting for another late amtrak train.

I stopped by to pick up a fresh pound of tasty beans recently. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. Himself and I love the Monsoon, Lola and Butkus. I was pleased to see a mocha blend. I snatched it up. We had a cup after dinner. He said it was the best cup of coffee he ever had. It was just as good for breakfast. The coffee drinks are good here. I love the lattes and the mocha is delicious.

Delicious cold brew coffee that is full and rich in flavor; they also serve nitro style cold brew if that’s your thing. They serve these amazing little mochi type muffins that are super tasty and go really nicely with a coffee drink– try one! I liked the cold brew so much I want to buy a bottle to take home. Normally I’m a fan of Blue Bottle and Peet’s cold brew if that’s any indication of how I rate coffee.

Thursday, 2:30PM. Catahoula Coffee Company is tucked away from typical Berkeley traffic. Friendly for dog owners! Quickie: * Decent coffee * Mediocre service + Clean — Weak wi-fi(s-l-o-w) And then??? Static vibe. Quiet place to get work done if you can find a seat and indifferent to wifi speed. ********** Get your drank on: 1. Iced latte Constructive comments: *Option for compost

This place has space, plugs and free wifi to work. There is coffee pastry and other sandwich type foods! The environment is great for working. The baristas are very friendly! Love this place! Update: Barista just let me try a cold mint tea and it was the most refreshing thing I’ve had in a long time! Highly recommended especially with these heat ways we’ve been having!

Chill spot with some decent coffee. Staff seemed ambivalent towards patrons, however. Pastries looked good, but the cabinets seemed half-empty otherwise. These kind of dead vibes aren’t conducive to a very creative atmosphere, so one can only wish they’ll put more of a foot forward to making it feel a bit less like a lonely corner and more of a place to be.

5 stars for AWESOME pastries baked in house and awesome staff. Minus 1 star for very small space. Minus 1 star for good but not amazing coffee. I’m glad I tried Catahoula, but I will probably stick to nearby Artis and Highwire in the future for their tastier espresso drinks and larger spaces. But you should definitely come here for the mochis. They are AMAZING!

When I found out Sketch was closing, I couldn’t help being a little sad, but when I found out Catahoula was taking it’s place, I couldn’t help being a lot excited. I’m a monster fan of their leg shakin’ coffee and I dreamed of the day when I could stop driving to Richmond for a fix. Finally, that day has come. The new space is still in development, but I have high hopes. Between the outdoor seating, array of high quality beans, friendly employees, and expertly prepared caffeinated beverages, they are destined for a successful second location. I’m happy to see they’re working hard to make this site just as pleasant as the original. Coffee wise, my current favorite for home brewing is the Mokka Java. It’s such a rich blend, practically like velvet in a cup. When I come in, I find it hard to resist the Mexican mocha. Definitely one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of sipping. If you feel like snacking, they also have a large selection of baked goods(many of which are vegan friendly). Big thanks to Catahoula for fueling my work flow. Here’s to your new shop and many more jitters!

Go Timber!!! I’ve been a staunch supporter since 2008— very sad to see the nice husband/wife team at the helm of Sketch go, and behold Catahoula expanding into this second space in prime West Berkeley! I’ll be sure to patronize this joint after work. Philz and Catahoula goin’ head2head now… Ps possible soft opening Monday.
