Citizen Cinema Acting Workshop

If you are serious about the art of acting and independent film this is the class for you. Learn Direct Action techniques from award winning director Rob Nilsson – this man knows film – actors in the workshop learn relaxation techniques, learn about realist cinema, explorations into the philosophy, strategy and training of Direct Action Cinema (used in creating 10 dramatic feature films with the Tenderloin yGroup of San Francisco (1992– 2007) and five dramatic feature films from the Direct Action World Cinema series including films shot in South Africa, Jordan and Japan.)
Characters and circumstances will be created with improvisations on locations and in front of cameras. Principles of centering, listening, dramatic «writing in real time» and discovering scene objectives will lead to exercises with strong emotional goals. we walk away with a digital scene for our reel. I have studied at Carnegie Hall with a devotee of Sanford Meisner, at the Juilliard School and at USC and I have to say that Nilsson’s technique is unlike any I have encountered. It not only prepares me for film or even theater, it prepares me for life.
