I called there to get a quote from them before I headed down there with cash in hand… asked for the availability and price for a specific product(knowing what I needed/wanted). The guy proceeds to tell me that he’s not some«bargain basement» and that my asking for price means I’m not one of his customers — so he doesn’t need my business. I was looking for a go-to shop in the area, and this one was close to where I live. His loss… and hopefully many more will read this and make the same decision for themselves. He doesn’t deserve to be in business… and I can’t believe he has a customer base to support him.(Or does he?)

The man I spoke with that worked here was soooooooo rude. I am not a child, and do not need to be spoken to like one. I would give NO stars, but that is not an option on here. Totally not a place where you want to go and spend your money. There are too many other options!

I cannot agree less with the previous reviewer. First off, I like the people at Secret Garden. It is a much smaller shop but they are very nice, friendly and helpful. I do not regularly shop at Secret Garden so i have no real loyalty to them, but what she said is very unfair and inaccurate. The staff at EC is fine as i had been in there before, but that guy that owns Environmental Concepts has an ego bigger than his warehouse. Here was my actual experience: I walked in there to talk with him and he responded: «I get paid a lot of money for my advice and you are not paying me so go away.» He literally held the door open for me and shut it behind him.(the door is kept locked.) Maybe he was having a really bad day or something but there was no excuse for this. But he got his wish. I will never go there again. I am a very easy-going person but I was stunned by his completely uncalled for rudeness. The only thing I could say was to tell him he is rude. Since then, lots of other responses come to mind. Other shops I have gone to are always super-helpful. Maybe he does so much business it does not matter, but on this day I was the only person there and there were no other cars in the lot this time or during my previous visit when he was not present. First impressions count. My impression was that he lives in his little world of a vastly over-inflated sense of his self-importance. With rare exception have I found the need for someone to compensate for their lack of self-esteem by being such a giant you-know-what, especially a shop owner who treats others like crap by demeaning and belittling them so he can feel superior. This place apparently has a reputation. Live and learn! There are lots of better hydro shops within five miles of this place where people are willing to give you the time of day. They have a lot of much better competitors nipping at their heels these days.
