I was having severe pain so I was referred to Dr. Kim. She didn’t seem too concerned, but went ahead and authorized an ultrasound anyway. The ultrasound came back negative, but I was still in such extreme pain in my left ovary that I went to Urgent Care and they referred me back to Dr. Kim. Her nurse called me the morning of my appointment saying she was canceling my appointment because if I had a negative ultrasound then it was probably just gas(that left me in such pain I could barely walk for a week?) and that I should just take advil. She totally missed that my new birth control had severe pelvic pain as a rare and dangerous side effect, and never told me that ultrasounds can sometimes be wrong and some things that could be wrong are only picked up by an MRI. I will absolutely not be going back to her again. She didn’t seem to care about my pain.

It might be a personality thing — I had a hard time finding the right fit with her. She had some good ideas and apologized for the nurse practitioner’s behavior(although it wasn’t Dr. Kim’s fault). I had some issues that I felt weren’t addressed, but I think it was because she didn’t realize the seriousness of it. I believe she is now working with college students and since she is friendly and open, this may be a great fit for both her and her patients.

Dr. Kim was warm, sweet, and professional. She made me feel very comfortable and answered all my questions without making me feel rushed… and I ask a lot of questions. I would recommend her to any of my girlfriends, and was very happy that I found her.

I’m shocked with the negative review! Well, I guess everyone is allowed an off day right? I’ve been with Dr. Kim since I needed to find a new OB/GYN since moving to the east bay from San Francisco in 2004. She has been a fantastic physician through some routine and not so routine times. She has been very patient, supportive, and more like a friend than your run of the mill doctor. She’s never been unprofessional and makes sure you’re well informed. I like my docs to be straight forward and to the point. That’s Eleanore. I’ve now gone through 2 pregnancies with her and despite moving further east(Dublin, CA), I plan on staying with her as my provider. I’ve also recommended her to several of my friends who have all loved her as well…

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Kim. I tend to ask a lot of questions, and Dr. Kim patiently supplied detailed answers without once giving off the impression that she was coddling me or that her time was being wasted. Dr. Kim is obviously capable, and she seems to keep up-to-date on current medical discoveries. Not only that, but she manages to strike an ideal balance between being supportive and being professional: you get the feeling that she’s genuinely concerned about your wellbeing, but it’s also pretty clear that there’s zero chance of her turning into some weepy Grey’s Anatomy caricature. When scheduling difficulties arose due to the need to coordinate between several different surgeons, Dr. Kim agreed to schedule my operation during a week when she was supposed to be on vacation. How often does something like that happen? By the way– if you’re on the UC-Berkeley health insurance, Dr. Kim is covered.
