There are folks who pursue a career in massage because they think it’s a good idea — and there are those who are called to share the abundance of their radiant being so that we may receive the benefit and blessings of such a gift. I met Mo 7 years ago. From my perspective there are very few bodyworkers who show up so profoundly attuned — to witness and support the client. Today I left feeling grounded and clear and aware of a joyful presence in my own being. Mo meets me where I am– and I get to sink into the bliss of receiving the touch of this extraordinary human being.

Anyone at the height of their craft approaches the work with great listening. I received my first massage from Mo and found it to be a powerful and deeply heartening experience. I felt very much at ease and that what I wanted was exactly what was delivered. This was he first massage I received where there was a hot bath waiting for me in another room before the massage. It was a wonderfully relaxing way to begin. If you are looking for a very sensitive practitioner who can tune in to the needs of the moment, then I highly recommend Mo.

I found Mo’s massage during a time when things were really hard in my life and I now continue to see him whenever I’m in a tough spot and in need of shifting and releasing stuck energy. He gives me a lot of space to create intentions for our sessions which over and over again proves to be a powerful and profound experience. When I leave I feel more grounded and optimistic and have much more clarity around whatever it is that i’m working through. Mo’s bodywork style is gentle and I always feel like I can easily drift away and let go of all the the things that I’m holding onto. He’s also very intuitive and so even though I tell him where I hold stress I trust that he know’s exactly what areas need attention. I realize that sometimes I don’t know where in my body I’ve got stuck energy and so it’s great to know that he can help me access those places without me telling him. If I could afford it I would see Mo every week. He is a wonderful resource and I’m so grateful for his care and support.

This guy is a pervert. He was offering massage at the farmer’s market and I fell for it, he sweat-talked me. Once I was lying on his table there was a lot of inappropriate touching and it was hard to get out of it. Only after that I realized his pre-massage interviews screen for vulnerable females, almost all his clients are younger women.

I’ve had massages before but the session Mo gave me was different. His warmth and persona were felt in the way he payed attention and seemed to intuitively know better than I did where to put pressure and attention. I felt deeply relaxed and almost fell asleep on the table even though I’d just drank coffee and was in the middle of a market square. Mo’s mastery of his craft has inspired me to do more self-care and I look forward to going back. I’m almost reluctant to write this review because once people know how good he is it might be difficult to book a future appointment! Ahh-mazing ^_^

I’ve been a bodyworker since 1999, so I know what my body needs and I am pretty darn picky about where I get my massage. Now that you know *that*, let me tell you — Mo is amazing. He’s one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet, and his hands are indeed kind to your body as they remove the tension and stress and unwind muscles you didn’t realize were tight. He has the training and experience(lots of both) but most importantly, he has the love. Bliss-tastic.

Mo brings all the artistry to massage that one could hope for. His emphasis on initial human-to-human connection(via a pre-massage conversation) helps to keep you checked into your body and your intention for the session. You also get to take a quick, hot soak before the massage which makes a lovely transition from the talking portion of the session to preparing for the massage itself. Mo works progressively — adding pressure and depth as your body opens up. He did a great job of intuiting my body’s boundaries. I also appreciated the music he chose and the sunny, clean, clutter-free space. Most of all, Mo offers his presence and attention from start to finish and there really isn’t anything so valuable as that. In my session, Mo and I talked for about half an hour before hand. I let him know what I was bringing into the room, in terms of what I’m working through in my life and also physically. I appreciated his mindful questions that helped me peer into the issues I was sharing and gain fresh, meaningful perspective. For me this conversation was imperative — in the past I’ve been prone to talking through my massages because I felt uncomfortable with just receiving, but since we had already talked it helped my spirit settle down. When I was soaking in the tub I told my body what was about to happen and that it was ok to trust this person. It was nice to have a moment with just myself before getting onto the table. If you’re looking to massage as a way to delve into your own psyche, to ease both physical and emotional pain, Mo is a safe, caring, talented individual who is adept at holding space. I give the highest of recommendations. It’s taken a lot to get me over the«am I really going to write a Unilocal review??» threshold and this massage did it.

Mo has a gift. That term is thrown a lot around these days, especially in the Bay, but I say this with all of the gravity and awe that the word deserves. I had a session with Mo and all I know is I left feeling deeply, deeply centered, fluid, strong, agile… reborn. I don’t know that I’d call myself a ‘bodywork connoisseur,’ but I certainly have had plenty of massage and bodywork in my day(I’m an ex-gymnast, so I know what a tweaked body can be like). My experience of Mo was that he’s tuned in, very professional, really takes the time to listen to what you need, and works at every level: physical, energetic, emotional, spiritual. He works magic. I have no idea how he does it, but he does.

Wilhelm Reich Mo Lohaus is an extraordinary massage therapist and body worker. His work produces ‘Reichian’ release of stored up emotional garbage. His techniques vary, but gentle is a common theme. My background as a 30 year body worker and 20+ year chiropractor gives me the experience to know excellence when I experience it. There is a little Tragger, a little fascia release, neuro-emotional technique etc. He is an artist who provides a safe place to move past physical and emotional trauma so that you can get back to living life at its fullest.
