I’ve framed several large charcoal drawings at Nielsen Arts over the past few years. The drawings are somewhat delicate and Nielsen did an impeccable job. I *love* the way they’re framed and feel so lucky we had them done by such an excellent shop. Patrick was extremely helpful in choosing the frame and mat, and he is also a lovely guy. I’m so happy that they’re a neighborhood joint so my money can stay local. I can’t imagine a better experience and I look forward to having more things framed!

Chris was very helpful and provided excellent service. I had 9 to 11 things to frame and he helped me find the most affordable option and offered helpful advice as to which color, size, and material worked best in the frames. I ended up getting 4 black metallic and 4 blue metallic frames for various diplomas and certificates, without a matte. I brought in two $ 13 frames that I bought at IKEA and he gave me a price estimate for two mattes which I accepted, also affordable around $ 15 — $ 20 each without the extras (e.g. wire hangers, foam backing, etc.). The whole package will run me $ 377 but it’s a good value for so many frames which he’ll custom size. I’ve held on to these diplomas and certificates for over 10 years and it’s about time to get them framed and hang them up. It’ll put this issue to rest. Chris made it so easy. He was not judgmental about my price concerns and was forthright and easy to talk to and even cheerful. Although I regret arriving late at 4:30, when they closed at 5, he was kind enough to stay several minutes late to help me complete my order. He didn’t have to do that and I could have returned another day, and I would not expect him to work after hours with a customer again, but it was an extra effort that was very generous. I am relieved to finally have these papers off my hands, temporarily, and into Chris’s hands so they can be nicely presented in a way that befits an Oxford degree. Which is what they are!

Yeaaaa… these guys rock. Pure and simple. Flawless framing, always checking in to make sure I’m pleased with the process, reasonably priced and super friendly to boot! Since I became a grown up and moved away from Ikea and Michael’s for my framing needs. Nielsen has delivered for my now more «serious» pieces of work in need. Love them! Patrick, the owner, is precise and honest, well priced for services rendered and an all around friendly guy. Never disappoints. If you have a chance to check out their shows for local artists as well, hop to it!

I have had a number of photos and art works framed by Neilson Gallery. They have provided excellent service, quality materials and superb advice. I especially appreciate never feeling rushed. Fast, friendly, and high quality. I needed something framed on really short notice. I looked through a bunch of options with Patrick, found a combination of frame and mat that I really liked, and paid a small fee for the rush. Within two days I had my framed poster in hand – a gift for my husband – just in time for our anniversary.

Patrick did a really nice job on several pieces of art from fine to lesser quality (but sentimental). The final tab was several times greater than I’d originally anticipated, and Patrick was kind enough to work with me so I could get what I wanted without completely breaking the bank or sacrificing quality. Just a really nice place and I’ve already been back to do more framing.

They took my damaged little fine pencil drawing of the Seine and Ile St. Louis at night, helped me pick just the right matte color, and now it hangs sweetly in my office. This is where you go when you don’t mind spending about an extra 15% to get finer quality on pieces that matter more than simple snapshots.

Got a groupon/​amazon local for Nielsen Arts as a gift and had a great experience! Kind, thoughtful and an excellent framing job at what I think is a reasonable price. The person who helped me gave me guidance but also let me really make my own «artistic» decisions. It was my first professional framing experience after I’d been turned away at other places who didn’t think my art was «fine» enough to be framed, and I don’t feel the need to find another framer! I’ll be back.

Nielsen Arts framed 2 posters for my office. They did a great job. I am not great at picking out winning color options for mattes and frames. I brought Patrick pictures of my office and carpeting and he came up with some great color contrasts that really popped when I hung them up in my office.
I really appreciated that Patrick took the time to figure out what would look best in my price range. I will definitely use them again.

Framed my mentor’s very meaningful painting here and it was done well. Patrick was great in explaining the options to me. Pretty decent quality frames but pricier than I had expected. Good craftsmanship and I’m happy with the delivery time (~2weeks) especially given how busy they are during the holiday season. I’d recommend it.

I came in to have my Ketubah framed without my husband. Patrick was helpful in picking the right frame and mat and completely patient as I called my husband a couple of time to ask his opinion. Super annoying customer, right? Well, Patrick was totally cool and even priced out a few of my favorite options so I could make an informed decision. The framing was done quickly and when I went to pick it up I was completely take aback by how beautiful it looked! I will go back to him, no question. We’ve got all our framing done at Nielsen Arts over the past two decades. The service has always been top-​quality, with a wide range of frames and mats to choose from. In addition, one can get UV-​blocking glass for valuable artworks prone to fading.
Recently our artwork collection was appraised, and Patrick Mercer provided the figure for all the framing — going down nostalgia lane for him! Always a pleasure to do business with him.
