this is the coolest college housing ever, and I didn’t even officially live here. I stayed here for about a week like 10 years ago and was greeted by some of the kindest, warmest people. There are a variety of spaces to hang out in, several levels, huge kitchen and fun Haring artwork painted on the bedroom walls. Large living room space with a pool table and piano, small downstairs space that was called Xanadu and it is in a beautiful location. Since my visit I heard they had to institute a rule where you must label cookies, due to the risk of accidentally consuming laced cookies during midterms. Sorry guys. If I went to UC Berkeley I woulda lived here, hands down. Fun, fun fun!

I love this house! I moved in not realizing the potential for growth and contentment this house offers it’s members, and it certainly wasn’t lost on me. I’ve met some of the most accepting, loving, and downright interesting people living here who I know I would have never met otherwise. Wilde offers so much wonderful in one house: the naked hottubbing, the baked oatmeal snacks in the morning, the rooftops mimosas, sunsets, snuggly movie nights, impromptu philosophical conversations in the kitchen, queer love everywhere, the parties are off the chain and hella inclusive(think beautiful shit shows). …I could go on… It’s also a wonderful and safe LGBT/Queer space on campus that’s an alternative to UCB programs. Plus, Wilde is WILD just sounds right :)

Oscar Wilde House made me realize and actualize my potential for happiness. There are no words to adequately express how much this house means to me and to all who inhabit or encounter it. Incredible people and the most accepting and inclusive environment imaginable. Simply, a heartwarming space to come home to.

Best parties, coolest coop, need I say more? Basically it is an awesome house that fosters a healthy environment where queers go to learn to be in their own skin and grow confident with their gender.

I Fucking Love You. I didn’t want to live here at first because I wanted an angsty lesbian with too much Ani DiFranco on their play list to take my spot. I wanted her to have a community she could really benefit from. Turns out I did too. The first time I came in her my future roommate Jason offered me fudge. It just made sense. For 2 years the general mess state of the house, the communal showers, the weird vegetable mush passing off as dinners were all part of your charm. Especially when most of my really good friends 3 years out of college are people I met who saw me at my weirdest, out of my mind & lived down the hall. I may be married to a wonderful man, but I won’t forget my wedding vows to you.
